Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi guys,I would like to know whats the best approach to store images for websites . The problem is i plan to have several websites on a web farm and 1 cms that control the content of the websites. The users will be required to upload images that will appear on the websites. Should the images be uploaded  in each websites or stored at a central location (CMS side) which all websites will access from?Is the idea of having a central image server to solution to go towards?Thank you for your help.

Search Engines and Multilanguage Websites - using .resx

I have a website (asp.net 3.5+c# +linq ) having thopition to change languages (2) by the user, Am using the search engine like in the example of:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/applications/SearchDotnet.aspx

this search will find any searched word in all the pages and return the link in the default language of the site, but problem for the second language , because by default the site language is English and the user have the option to change to other language.

and as I understood that the .resx files can not be searched like the aspx by the search engines.

I looked in many blogs and discussion boards for similar  case but unfortunately no clues on this issue .
The only same case posted :

http://forums.asp.net/p/1523698/3669127.aspx#3669127

and also I could not find any clue to move on,

Kindly requsted to guide me for the soultio

Thanks for your time and wish you all the best

Taming the Stateless Beast: Managing Session State Across Servers on a Web Farm

Running a Web farm means managing session state across servers. Since session state can't be shared across a Web farm with Internet Information Services 5.0, a custom solution is required. One such solution using a tool called the session manager is described here. The article begins with a description of the SQL Server database used to store state information, the stored procedures used to update it, and the retrieval of session data. ASP code drives the session manager tool and the COM and COM+ components that run the stored procedures.

Extracting Infopath form templates (with code behind) from a farm

Hi,

I am in the middle of a migration of MOSS 2007 on server 2003 R2 to server 2008 r2, to be in the position to migrate to SP 2010. I am trying to extract form templates (with code-behind) from the old farm to the new farm. I did not set this farm up myself, so I would have copies of everything that was deployed to the farm, but now I don't. I have tried grabbing the .xsn from the Form Templates form library, and the form comes over, but no code behind, it says, The VB or C# project for this form template cannot be found. I have also tried extracting the solution files, and changing the file ext to .cab and opening the file up, only to find nothing very useful.

I need to extract and open the code up because I believe one of the forms that sends emails dynamically, is pointing to an old exchange server, because the emails are not getting through, and the exchange server was recently changed.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Running multiple websites in Sharepoint 2007 with AX2009 Enterprise Portal

I need to setup two separate webshops with public access and different layouts using AX2009 Enterprise Portal.

However I am uncertain how to implement two completely different layouts/designs because the Sharepoint Templates are located inside the 12 hive and not seperate for each website.

Can anybody give me some hints on how to do this - and if so, which requirements I have to meet (VSS 3.0 or MOSS Standard / Enterprise) in order to do it.

I am speculating whether I need to setup two separate web-servers with each own Sharepoint installation (and Business Connector Proxy)

Thanks in advance

Sharepoint farm lost a server... How to proceed?

Had a Sharepoint farm I inherited that was running on ____ hardware in a ____ setup- raid controller failed, and the rack was setup so that I have to down 15 servers that might not come back up, just to get at the server... Complete, unrecoverable failure. This server was a member of our Sharepoint 2007 farm, and had Reporting Services on it. There are a lot of little pieces that are still referenced in the Central Configuration. I removed the server forcibly, and need to know next steps, specifically:

1. I tried to move Reporting Services to another server, but I get an error in the Grant Database privileges that I cannot connect to the Report Server's WMI Provider. I created a SPN on a DC, forced a replication a few hours ago, and still no luck. Any Advice?

2. How do I fix all the little things that reference that server? Anytime Sharepoint initiates a web page to Central Administration, it tries to use that server address.

I think the failed server was running SQL 2008 or SQL 2008 R2, and the server I am moving this to is SQL 2005 SP2. I have installed the correct Reporting Services for Sharepoint. Have I missed something?

Time is of the essence because management relies on Reporting Services and I am under a great deal of pressure to fix this. I appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks!

Hi

MOSS farm: 1 index, 1 WFE,  SQL cluster

When we try to start the wss search service from the web UI we gat a 'system policies must have full control' message. I can start it manually but the app log is full of event ID's 6482:

Reason: System policies must have Full Control.

There is an additional similar event (event ID 6483) that we also see regularly in the event log concerning Excel services:

can blackberry browse local websites

Greetings,  :smileyhappy:

I am a vb.net developer using visual studio 2010 and sql server 2005 express, windows 7.

Blackberry device that I am using is 8520. Now I have configured my blackberry to use wifi and I can connect to the internet successfully using my 8520. My development computer is also connected to the same router via ethernet cable, a normal lan cable.

I have developed a test application and I would like to browse the application from my device using my wifi connection to connect to my development pc. My blackberry device is set to automatically obtain an IP address and my wireless router dchp is enabled. My dev pc IP is 192.168.1.101.

So in the blackberry browser I type http://192.168.1.101 I should get the default IIS7 page. I don't get that. If I type http://192.168.1.101/test.html I don't get my test page. I turned off my anti virus also and windows firewall but I still cannot navigate to the page.

I cannot use the visual studio blackberry plugin because it does not support visual studio 2010. All I want to do is browse my test

Updating Config Files in Sharepoint Farm

I am trying to update config files web.comnfig in the Virtual Directory of my server so that users are allowed to upload more that 50 MB of files in my IIS 7 server. Everytime i do the update it works fine but after few days when there are few changes then it removes the added elements itself and restore in the Original Stage. I used to edit my config files manually. I found a way of creating a config files and saving it to the Config Directory under 12 Hive in Server. Like the Content will be similar as follows <actions>    <add path="configuration/SharePoint/SafeControls">       <SafeControl          Assembly="System.Web, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral,             PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"          Namespace="System.Web.UI.WebControls"          TypeName="*"          Safe="True"/>    </add>   </actions> I have to add following line <system.webServer>     <security>       <requestFiltering>         <requestLimits maxAllowedCon

The URL 'ao/AO Document/Admin Guideline/xxxxx.jpg' error on 2nd SharePoint server in farm

We just added a 2nd SP2007 server to mirror our site.  The original site is in China, the new site in the US.  They are connected via a permanent  site to site VPN.  We are hitting the errors when attempting to upload files to the US mirror.    Environment: US server site: OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (64 bit) APP: Windows Sharepoint Server 2007 Enterprise SP2 (64 bit) DB: Windows SQL Server 2008 Enterprise R2 (64 bit) China site: OS: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 (32 bit) APP: Windows Sharepoint Server 2007 Enterprise SP2 (32 bit) DB: Windows SQL Server 2008 Enterprise R2 (32 bit) Background: We setup two test Sharepoint farm to be syncronized with only its content database. The upload works good on SZ site. But we got the following 2 error messages randomly when uploading file to document library of SF side. Error message: 1. The URL 'ao/AO Document/Admin Guideline/xxxxx.jpg' is invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in the current Web. 2. Cannot open file "ao/AO Document/Admin Guideline/xxxxx.jpg". -- We've tried the official hotfix, altering the schema, changing the IIS memory limit settings, and restarting the application pool. Could the issue be related to the different OSes 2008 vs 2003, or 32 vs 64bit?

SharePoint Version 2.0 (WSS 2.0 SP3) Content Database restore to new farm

Is it possible to use an SQL backup from a sharepoint Version 2 SP3 database to restore the content on a new server farm and attach to a new web applicaiton. NOTE: This is WSS 2.0. In WSS 3.0 this is a very simple task, but it is not the same in WSS 2.0 (the add content database option CANNOT be used to attach to an existing content database like it does in WSS 3.0). The options I have found appear to say you need the configuration database from the old server then it can be done. I am migrating from an outsourced deployment, so I do not have access to that. Plan B is to do a sharepoint STSADM backup. THis seems to be a more likey way to do it.

Central Administration no longer accessible by any account after changing Farm Account in SharePoint

I have a problem, that I no longer can access Central Administration Website, only the Sharepoint itself. I was running installation of Sharepoint 2010 Server with administrative account ImTheAdmin, who is a Domain Admin in the MYDOMAIN domain. Using ImTheAdmin I installed Sharepoint 2010 on one of the Windows 2008 R2 member servers. Besides that, I made ImTheAdmin the primary administrator of the Sharepoint. ImTheAdmin became the only user of this Sharepoint 2010 server after installation.  I installed everything on one box with default installation settings. I used builtin SQL server, not Standard or Enterprise. What then happened is: Using ImTheAdmin account, I opened Central Administration Website, and it said, that I need to change the Farm Account, as the account for Farm was the default one (I think it was network service). So I created a regular domain user in AD Users and Computers called MYDOMAIN\SPFarmAccount. Then using IE, I went to the Central Administration Website page, which is meant for changing farm account usernames. I put in MYDOMAIN\SPFarmAccount down in to the form of Central Administration Website, added the check mark, that it would react to password changes, and pressed Change. Browser worked for a while, and after that nothing seemed to work. Neither my Sharepoint, nor Central Administration website. When going to Central Administra

Failed to change Farm Account in Sharepoint 2010 server, now Central Administration is not accessibl

Hello, I have a problem, that I no longer can access Central Administration Website, only the Sharepoint itself. So I created a regular domain user MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccount. The account name was too long to be as a Windows 2000 name, so it showed there without last 't', e.g. MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccoun. I thought, Windows 2000 is long gone, so I didn't pay much attention, I think everywhere the account SID is important. I don't know if that is the real problem with my failure later, but it might be one of the reasons. I put MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccount down in to the form of Central Administration Website, added the check mark, that it would react to password changes, and pre

Consistent navigation for list which is available in several sub websites

As far as my SharePoint knowlegde goes a list is deployed to a certain location like your root site. If you got a sub site and you add a link to your list to the quicklaunch navigation you're redirected to your root site. You lose track of where you've been before. Is it possible to have a link to one list in several sites (in one site collection) without being redirected to the root site everytime you click on a link? I would love to create a custom siteMapProvider if that's what I need to do, but I could really use some hints and help how to start on this topic.
