Cutting Edge: Customize Controls with AJAX Extenders

AJAX Extenders extend the behavior and features of ordinary Web controls so you can reduce postbacks and control input even better than with AJAX alone.

With Anonymous access disabled, is there any way to use an AJAX-enabled WCF Service?

I have a website where anonymous access is disabled but I want to user an ajax-enabled WCF service. Configuring the service's binding security to use "TransportCredentialOnly" with clientCredentialType="Windows" seems like the obvious thing to do; indeed, many posts in various places suggest this approach. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't work. I always get the error "Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for the IIS application that hosts this service." How can I configure the service to function correctly. I'm running IIS 7.5 with .Net framework 4.0. Thanks.

AJAX Extenders in SharePoint 2010

Hello All, I have few WebParts from 2007 and I am trying to deploy them in 2010.  None of the extenders seem to be working. Initially I got the error: "Message: AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll." I added the tag: <cc1:ToolkitScriptManager id="ScriptManager" runat="server"></cc1:ToolkitScriptManager> it went away. Now I am seeing: Message: 'Sys' is undefined Message: 'Type' is undefined Message: 'Sys.Extended.UI' is null or not an object Message: Sys.ArgumentException: Value is not the name of the type being registered or the name is a reserved word.Parameter name: typeName Can you please help me. Using AJAX update panel to show image but still blinking

May anyone help me on this issue please?I'm developing a web site that can grab image captured from cameras and show in the web page, i'm currently using Ajax's Update panel to update the image every second, my web files and Images is located in IIS virtual directory, browsing using IE7.My code is as following :<asp:UpdatePanel ID="uPVideoPane1" runat="server">                                 <triggers>                                     <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="Timer" EventName="Tick" />                                 </triggers>                                 <contenttemplate>                                     <asp:LinkButton ID="linkCamera1" runat="server">                                         <asp:Image ID

Using AJAX Extenders To Make Client-Side Happy

I am developing a web application that needs to retrieve, display and write data to an SQL database.  I'm trying to use AJAX and Javascripts in order to populate fields, lists and data, and to have button and calendar controls on the page that can update the page without refreshing and losing the data page.  Therefore, it's necessary that I find ways to doing as much as possible (ideally, everything) client-side, without page refreshes. Now, for security purposes, I've heard that there's a method for retrieving a copy of all relevant data from SQL at loading time, keeping a copy of it, perhaps on a separate page, and send-retrieve-display this data on my page, and then, at Submission time, write this data back to the Server.  This is to minimize hits to the Server and to preserve data integrity.  I've heard that doing this is called using an Extender, but we can't find examples of how this works so far. Can anybody provide me with a code example of how this is done and what it looks like?  Trying to find out how this is done, and decide if it's practical. Any suggestions and questions are welcome.

ModalPopupExtender allows content panel to show, but everything is disabled

I have a user control (ascx) vs 2010 that contains a modalpopup extender thats popup control is an asp:panel.  In that Panel I have an update panel and a contenttemplate inside the upd panel.  It is a pretty simple example of its use, in that I have list box allowing the users to create a new row in a table.  However, when I click targetcontrol, the background changes to the expended modal background, but instead of being able to use the listbox, everything in the content panel is the same as the background and none of the controls on the panel are enabled.  In other words, the entire page is loaded dimgray, including the updatearea. Not sure what is going on here, but any help would be appreciated.

trying to show new image in ajax slidehow extender immediately after uploading it

 hi,   On my aspx page I have a slidshow extender.   In the code behind I am filling a data table from the datbase and using GetSlides() Method to show the images in the slideshow. The problem is I have a file upload control on the page as well. When I upload  a new file I am expecting it to show in the slideshow after postback but it does not. Only when I click refresh again or cause another postback the second time does the new image show.   My code behind    private static DataTable tblData = new DataTable(); protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)         string strSQL = "(my select query is here";        SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=(mydatasource here");        conn.Open();            SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(comm);        tblData = new DataTable();        da.Fill(tblData);         conn.Close();           // set the initial image        if (tblData.Rows.Count > 0)        {

Ajax, Smart Parts(web part w/ ajax support), User Control, and a GridView

So I am playing around with a user control that I created that adds some functionality to a SPList. I have scoured the web looking for a way to get a web part that had a gridview with custom buttons that is bound to certain Items in a sharepoint list. I found Smart Parts and created an Ajax enabled User Control. the problem is that the label is updating but the gridview is not. and on a site note how can I format the Time on Board column to not include milliseconds(the fields are showing up like '1.02:48:31.8633636') i just want 1.02:48 and maybe the 31:

here is my ascx:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="AlertControlWebPart.ascx.cs"
  Inherits="AlertControlWebPart.AlertControlWebPart, AlertControlWebPart, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToke

how to make VS Intellisense show complex object's properties for result of Ajax call?

I've create a WCF webservice and created a proxy to the service using ScriptManager.

I can see the created a proxy class, and intellisense pops up the methods of the webservice (great!!). But, I can't see the properties of the method params, return types.

The webservice method:

searchResponse DBSearch.Search(searchRequest)

have comlex types as a parameter (searchRequest) and a return type (searchResponse).

Intellisense does recognize these types, but I can not see the properties (javacript does);

var _searchRequest = new DBSearch.SearchRequest; (intellisense knows type SearchRequest)

_searchRequest.query = "liver lacerations"; (intellisense doesn't know it's property 'query')

_searchRequest.searchOptions = "modality=mri";

Obviously, with javascript, var _searchRequest is not typed, but is there a way to hint intellisense into the properties of the class?

can show but canNOT save profiles through ajax.

AJAX Validation callout extenders firing when other buttons are pressed

I have several buttons on a page, but have assigned some validators and AJAX validator callout extenders to one button in particular. However, the validator callout extenders seem to be firing even if I press a different button. I thought this was the point of setting a TargetControlID (for the valiator callout extender) and a ControlToValidate for the validator itself! Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

<asp:TextBox ID="tbNewDuration" runat="server" />   Duration <br />
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="tbNewDurationRFV" ControlToValidate="tbNewDuration" ErrorMessage="Please enter a Duration value." Display="None" runat="server" />
<cc1:ValidatorCalloutExtender ID="tbNewDurationVCE1" runat="server"  TargetControlID="tbNewDurationRFV" />
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="tbNewDurationREV" runat="server" Display="none" ControlToValidate="tbNewDuration" ErrorMessage="Please enter a number of 10 digits" ValidationExpression="^\d{10}$" />
<cc1:ValidatorCalloutExtender ID="tbNewDurationVCE2" runat="server" TargetControlID="tbNewDurationREV" />

Do Ajax Toolkit Extenders participate in server side validation?

If I use the extenders (for example mask edit) in place of some of the built in validators such as RegularExpressionValidator for exampe, will Page.Validate() still be called automatically and perform server side validation using the extenders?
