'System.Array' does not contain a definition for 'FirstOrDefault' and no extension method 'FirstOrDefault' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Array' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) What am i missing Ctrl . does not work here ( I am using MVC 2) :( its for getting the string length from the metadata of a class var stringLength = member.Member.GetCustomAttributes(typeof(StringLengthAttribute), false).FirstOrDefault() as StringLengthAttribute;  Its part of some code i found on the net for a custom helper to create textboxfor with Maxlength without having to add to to ever textbox for manually.   But it is not compliing

XmlSerializer: Serialize an array of System.Drawing.Color

Ok,  here is my problem... I am building a UI configuration tool that utiliizes a PropertyGrid.  One of the properties is a indexed list of Colors contained in an array: CategoryAttribute("Style"), DisplayName("Data Set Colors"), DescriptionAttribute(""), XmlArray("SetColors"), XmlArrayItem(ElementName="Color",Type=typeof(SColor))] public Color[] SetColors { get; set; } The beauty of the PropertyGrid is it knows how to handle this Poperty and properly handles array and list of Colors. BUT...   As we already know in order to serialize a Color,  we have to use a surrigate property,  which is very unfortunate, and I fear is one of those little thing MS just overlooked.  (I understand it is actually a structure and not a class and has not default properties from which to get type info from.) I am really amazed that when I do serialize the class,  the XML is soooo  close to what I need,  its just missing the actual color value data: <AppGridColumnConfig xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Name>Label</Name> <SetColors> <Color /> <Color /> <Color /> </SetColors> <IsDefaultEditable>false</IsDefaultEditable> <IsDirtyCheck&

Converting a System.Windows.Control.Image object to byte array.

Hi i need to convert a specific System.Windows.Control.Image object into an (int) array, because i'm trying to convert a silverlight application into a wpf project. private void createGi02GradBrush()<br/> {<br/> WriteableBitmap oWriteableBitmap = new WriteableBitmap(256, 256);<br/> Image oImage = new Image();<br/> oImage.Arrange(new Rect(0, 0, 256, 256));<br/> oImage.Measure(new Size(256, 256));<br/> oImage.Source = new WriteableBitmap(256, 256);<br/> Gi02GradShaderEffect oGi02GradShaderEffect = new Gi02GradShaderEffect();<br/> oGi02GradShaderEffect.pArray = oPImageBrush;<br/> oGi02GradShaderEffect.gi1GradArray = oGi1GradImageBrush;<br/> oImage.Effect = oGi02GradShaderEffect;<br/> oWriteableBitmap.Render(oImage, null);//here<br/> oWriteableBitmap.Invalidate(); <br/> this.oGi02GradImageBrush = new ImageBrush();<br/> this.oGi02GradImageBrush.ImageSource = oWriteableBitmap;<br/> } I've found some similar topics however Image object is not the same and most of its methods aren't available. Here I'm rendering a writablebitmap with a given Image object, but in wpf we need an array. oWriteableBitmap.Render(oImage, null); Any idea? Thanks. Joseph.

WCF Hosted in IIS Gives System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException When transfering large byte array

I have a WCF service hosted in IIS that takes a byte array. If I send a small byte array the service works, if I send a large (282, 624) byte array the service fails.

I have tried increasing values etc in the config files and nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The config files are as follows:

System.String[*] -> cannot be casted to System.Array

I have been trying to access the synonyms using word interop assemblies. The type returned is of System.String[*].

I have searched the internet for ways to cast it to some type to use it and have tried doing everything including trying to cast it to System.Array.

However, the exception still crops up regarding its inability to convert System.String[*] to System.String[].

Kindly suggest a way out.

System Development Life Cycle

The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in an information system development project from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. Various SDLC methodologies have been developed to guide the processes involved including the waterfall model (the original SDLC method), rapid application development (RAD), joint application development (JAD), the fountain model and the spiral model. Mostly, several models are combined into some sort of hybrid methodology

Performance Tests: Precise Run Time Measurements with System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch

Everybody who does performance optimization stumbles sooner or later over the Stopwatch class in the System.Diagnostics namespace. And everybody has noticed that the measurements of the same function on the same computer can differ 25% -30% in run time. This article shows how single threaded test programs must be designed to get an accuracy of 0.1% - 0.2% out of the Stopwatch class. With this accuracy, algorithms can be tested and compared.

Problem upgrading to MVC3 - System.Web.Routing

I'm trying to upgrade to .NET 4 and MVC 3.

When trying to compile my project, I get the error:

I do have the System.Web.Routing in my references for the project.

BUT - when I try to view System.Web.Routing in the OBJECT BROWSER, nothing is inside!  The System.Web.Routing namespace is not in there - the entire thing is empty!  Could it that the dll is corrupted?  I tried to reinstall the .NET 4 and MVC 3 stuff, but its still empty!

The dll is coming from here:

How to cast integer values as an array of enum values?

Hello all!

I'm working with VS2010 Beta2, ASP.NET and Dynamic Data. I'm using VB but will certainly be happy to receive a C# example if necessary. Laughing

I used a few of Steve's examples (Writing Attributes and Extension Methods for Dynamic Data and Dynamic Data - Hiding Columns in selected PageTemplates) to create a custom property attribute to be applied to a dynamic data column and want it to accept an array of enum values (each value will represent a dynamic data page template where this column should not be displayed).  My new attribute works fine when I hardcode it like this, meaning the HideColumnIn attribute is properly populated with the array of enum values:

<HideColumnIn(PageTemplate.List, PageTemplate.Edit)> _
Public Property My_DD_Column As Object

However, I want to store the values to be used for the HideColumnIn in the DB as integer values that correspond to the

System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPerm

Good Day all,

Having an issue with an outside user accessing my IIS7 box. I do not have this problem when running the website from my host machine. I found this post: Http://forums.asp.net/t/1371394.aspx. I assure you that this is not a solution because I am not storing any of my files on a network share.

What do you think my approach should be.

I already have read rights to IIS user to my BIN folder.

Thanks for the help.

System.IO.Packaging is not visible

I am new to ASP.net, I installed VS2005 and IIS 5 on my PC and set up my first website using IIS (not the embedded webserver in VS).

For some reason I cannot find the Assembly: "System.IO.Packaging", please let me know if I am allowed to use it in that medium and how can I reference it?

Thanks in advance.
