URL routing with a dynamic .sitemap file

Hi,I've implemented URL routing now I've upgraded to .NET 4 following http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2009/10/13/url-routing-with-asp-net-4-web-forms-vs-2010-and-net-4-0-series.aspx.The only problem I've encountered is with the .sitemap file. If I put, for example: <siteMapNode url="~/recipes/Starters" title="Browse Starters"> it renders correctly. However, I need to do something like this: <siteMapNode url="~/recipes/{category}" title="Browse {category}"> - i.e. dynamically giving a titleOr, I'd settle for something like this: <siteMapNode url="~/recipes/*" title="Browse Recipes"> - i.e. covering all recipe pages Has anyone found a nice solution to this?

Need help with dynamic table generation

I am building a test script to help myself figure out dynamic SQL.  My goal is to generate column names from an existing table query.  To work in this direction I made the following test: declare @sql varchar(1000) declare @int int set @int = 1 set @sql = 'declare @test table (' set @sql = @sql + 'testfield varchar(10),' while @int < 5 begin  if @int < 4   Begin    set @sql = @sql + ' field' + CAST(@int as varchar(10)) + ' varchar(10),'   end  else if @int = 4   begin    set @sql = @sql + ' field' + CAST(@int as varchar(10)) + ' varchar(10))'   end  set @int = @int + 1  end select (@sql) exec (@sql) insert into @test (testfield, field1, field2, field3, field4) values (1,2,3,4,5) When I run this query I get the following from the select (@sql) query: declare @test table (testfield varchar(10), field1 varchar(10), field2 varchar(10), field3 varchar(10), field4 varchar(10)) This looks good.  When I run the exec statement, this returns 1 Row affected, so, that seems to work.  However, when I run the insert I get this error: Server: Msg 137, Level 15, State 2, Line 23 Must declare the variable '@test'. I know that GO statements will effectively create batch dividers between statement groups, but, I haven't yet learned

Creating Dynamic Sitemap in SharePoint

Hello all,

I have developed a publishing portal in sharepoint.I have a requirement wherein I need to create sitemap for the entire web application.

This should be dynamic, in the sense, whenever we update the contents of any given page in our web application, it should be reflected immediately in the sitemap page. What are the possible ways to achieve this and which is the best possible solution considering the scalability and easy configuration?

Thank you.

Css menu control with Sitemap, rollover and dynamic images

Hi all

I have been building a site (http://www.leisurepursuits.co.uk) but i am having some trouble.

I built it using a bunch of links with a css rollover style.

However, what i would like to do is a)have sub menu items and b) have it so that the button which relates to the page the user is on is always highlighted.

Now to me, the obvious choice would be to build a sitemap (which i have done) use the menu control (which i have done) apply images to each individual node (i dont know how to do this) create a rollover (i dont know how to do this) and then programatically make it so the button stays highlighted if they are on the relevant page (i dont know how to do this)

So is anyone able to point me in the irght direction for doing the last three at all?

I have been googling for ages and just cannot find a half decent tutorial on the menu control which covers the points i make above.

I would really apreciate your help

Thanks very much

SSRS 2005 Dynamic Table Generation

I am attempting to build a report that allows the user to select the value of 4 different parameters. The final parameter allows the user to select multiple values. My question is as follows. Based on the users selections, is there a way to generate the required number of tables dynamically?

For instance, if the input for the final parameter is A, B, & C can the appriopriate number of tables be generated for the same dataset (Sales) without having to build a table for SalesA, SalesB, and SalesC? Or do I have to build the maximum number of tables and use an expression to determine visibility based on the parameters. Note: max number of possible tables is more than 100.

How to create dynamic Sitemap for SharePoint sitecollections and their subsites

Hi All,

I have created a webapplication in that i have morethan 10 sitecollections and each site collection has morethan 10sites and subsites. I have a client requirement that they need a sitemap which shows how many site collections, sites and its subsites, it should be dynamic (when ever a new site is created then immediately it has to be reflect in sitemap).

1) Can this be possible through OOB? If yes please do let me know how to implement this.

2) Can be possible through custom coding using UserControl.ascx?

Please let me know how can i implement sitemap feature. Thanks in advance

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Dynamic Data Templates in GridView ASP.NET 3.5

At a high level, Dynamic Data Templates can be seen as a system to very quickly build up a User Interface linked with the relevant data model, immediately enabling you to perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on the database using the specified data source. They provide a powerful method for building up these kinds of applications, and I'm going to focus on an overview of what Dynamic Data Templates actually are, and a few ways of customizing them to suit industry needs.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Dynamic Systems Development Model (DSDM) Methodology

The Dynamic Systems Development Model was developed in the U.K. in the mid-1990s. It is the evolution of rapid application development (RAD) practices. DSDM boasts the best-supported training and documentation of any of the agile software development techniques, at least in Europe. DSDM favors the philosophy that nothing is built perfectly the first time and looks to software development as an exploratory endeavor.

Adding Dynamic Rows in GridView with TextBoxes

I decided to write this article because this has been asked so many times before at the forums(http://forums.asp.net) . Basically, this example shows on how to generate a Row in GridView with TextBoxes when clicking a Button that is residing inside a GridView Footer.

What is the difference between "dynamic" and "object" keywords?

Let's take a quick look at the object keyword first. I'm not going to talk a lot about it because it's been around since C# 1.0. This keyword is nothing more than a shortcut for System.Object, which is the root type in the C# class hierarchy. (However, as Eric Lippert pointed out in his blog post, not everything in C# derives from object.) This is a powerful mechanism, since you can assign almost any value to instances of this type.

Dynamic in C# 4.0: Introducing the ExpandoObject

You have probably already heard about the new dynamic feature in C# 4.0 and how it is used to support COM interop. If you haven't, I strongly recommend reading the following MSDN articles: Using Type dynamic and How to: Access Office Interop Objects by Using Visual C# 2010 Features.
