Server Error in '/' Application

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi. I followed Scott Mitchell's instruction for Building a Store Locator ASP.NET Application Using Google Maps API and hosted the application on my GoDaddy shared hosting account here: http://www.realchoicedentalcenters.com/Lookup/. I am getting Configuration Error message and was hoping you could help. I also added <customErrors /> tag so you can see the error message remotely. I really appreciate your help on this! Thank you,

Error Handling: Throwing Custom Exception Types from a Managed COM+ Server Application

Exception handling semantics in .NET are based on type, so you can create custom exceptions that have their own properties and methods. In .NET, exceptions are first-class citizens, and since they're the built-in error handling mechanism, all .NET-compliant languages must support exceptions. In addition, COM+ services are available to .NET code as Enterprise Services, so you can leverage exceptions in your Enterprise Services design. In this article the author describes custom exceptions, throwing exceptions across COM interop boundaries, and working with Enterprise Services.

I was installing MOSS using remote log-in and went through the "Setup" and "SharePoint Products and Technologies Congfig Wizard".  Near the end of the wizard I see the Success Page and SHOULD be able to view the SharePoint Central Admin Page but get this:   "Server Error in '"/" Application  RUNTIME ERROR   Description: An alpplication error occured on the server.  The current custom  error setting for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed.  Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine please create a <customErrors> tag within a web.config file located in teh root directory of the current web application, This <custom error> tag should have its mode attribute set to "Remote Only:  To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines please set mode to "off".   <configuration>   <system.web>         <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly"/>   </system.web> </configuration>     Where can I find the web.config file and do I have to insert a new tag or just replace "Remote Only" attribute with "Off" ?

Error while Deploying WebMatrix Beta Application having SQL Database on Remote Server

Hello All,

I have created "DotNetNuke SQL Database Application" from the WebMatrix Gallery.

Now I want to deploy it on the remote server using Web Deploy method.

Without selecting SQL database, application is deployed successfully but when I select SQL database it gives following error:

Publish : Error - Make sure the database connection string for the server is correct and that you have appropriate permission to access the database. (Web Deploy provider is dbFullSql).

Can anyone have the solution of this error?

Thanks in advance....

Search server 2010 setup - error creating search service application

I am running in a very similar siutation as this post:

I am configuring a new Search Server 2010 production environment.

I used the search setup account to run the setup and run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard.

During the first run of the SharePoint configuration wizard (where the farm account and service applications are setup), the process failed because the search service application could not be created.

Errors were encountered during the configuration of the Search Service Application.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: User does not have permissiont to perform this action.

I was under the assumption that the setup account had securityadmin and dbcreator SQL Server roles.  However, this was not the case and I had them added.  My original thought was the setup failed because of this.  After those roles were added, I tried to recreate the search service application and I still get a failure.

I am pretty sure I have followed the prerequisites as prescribed by Microsoft in terms of account setup (

A SharePoint solution I am currently working on is displaying the error above and shows the following in the body of the stack trace (IE 8):

[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]

The solution makes use of a custom master page and this includes a server control with a class (in C#) that inherites from two base classes - a custom class as well as IDesignTimeHtmlProvider (a no-no?). This server control seems to be breaking the master page and all associated content pages.

Did moving the solution from .NET 2.0 to 3.5 and using Visual Studio 2010 instead of 2008 (used for the solution's initial development) cause the problem above?

Please let me know if further information is needed. Many thanks for your help with this.

Server Error in '/SecurityTokenServiceApplication' Application

I am using sharepoint 2010 foundation on win7.

when I click on http://localhost:32843/SecurityTokenServiceApplication/securitytoken.svc, it gave me the error "The 'CustomBinding'.'http://tempuri.org/' binding for the 'IWSTrust13Sync'.'http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2008/06/identity/securitytokenservice' contract is configured with an authentication mode that requires transport level integrity and confidentiality. However the transport cannot provide integrity and confidentiality. "

And in sharepoint 2010 Central Administration, The SharePoint Health Analyzer has detected some critical issues, one of the issue is "The Security Token Service is not available.".

I already installed the hotfix (KB976462).

Thanks in advance.

Server Error in '/' Application on a personalised sharepoint page

I have a login to a sharepoint subsite where the default.aspx has been modified to show a personalised page. Unfortunatley it is now showing an error relating to a datasource for a report. This has been fixed but the personalized page stillthrows an error on login so I cannot get to the settings to remove the problem.

Is it possible to remove the personalised page via the back end? Either via the sharepoint database or by Sharepoint Desiginer.

Thank you.
