Delete User Account

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi,   I'm trying to find out what is the best way to remove a user from MOSS 2007?   What happens if I go into Site Admin and just delete the profile, does this remove the person from Search? Will this interfere with any places in the site where their name is evident in a people look up.   If you can provide me with any suggestions I would be grateful.   Thanks.

What is the best way to create user account for big group of people?

I need to create individual account for a big group of people (around 200) from an Excel spreadsheet. What is the best practice? It will take too much time to create account using web form. I think there must be a way to do it. Please advice. I tried to use Stored procedures created by ASP.NET. NOT SURE whether it is a good idea.

User Account Corrupted

I'm having this problem for quite sometime now. I'm using SQL Express for my DB.

First i thought it's because of Web Server 2003 so i migrated to 2008 but it did'nt solve the problem.

Some of my users suddenly cannot login anymore not All were affected and almost same user

encounter account corruption. My solution right now is to delete their account and create a new one.

I dont know if it's how they use the web service or something wrong with the browser.

My plan right now is to create a new "ASPNETDB" if i cant find any solution.

Hope some can asist me if in case you have already encountered this. Also thought that maybe

because i'm using SQL Express MS intended to do this to force me to buy licensed version.

BTW, normally i only have 20 users accessing Web at the same time.

User Profile Service account Write to AD Permissions

I followed this guide here (http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups.aspx) to provision the UPS service in sharepoint 2010. I found the guide very helpful and informative. Everything is working correctly except for the write back to AD I've followed the steps and have assigned the listed permissions to the UPS service account, however I still get permissiong errors in the FIM GUI Our AD is running in a 2008 environment but is in 2003 mode, so I made sure to add the UPS account to Pre Windows 2000 Compatible access built in group and restart the server so that the new group settings would take affect. Do I need to reprovision the UPS service or something? Or am I missing something completely. (Hopefully the latter lol!) Thanks RKB

Hi im having the following error in the windows event viewer Object Cache: The super user account utilized by the cache is not configured. This can increase the number of cache misses, which causes the page requests to consume unneccesary system resources.  To configure the account use the following command 'stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname portalsuperuseraccount -propertyvalue account -url webappurl'. The account should be any account that has Full Control access to the SharePoint databases but is not an application pool account.  Additional Data:  Current default super user account: SHAREPOINT\system after this the computer starts working slowly and slowly The account that the log shows is the aplication pool account of the first site collection I created   I followed the instrucctions in this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758656.aspx I set new accounts to the superuser and super reader I also tried using the same account that the first error showed has superuser and super reader However  I always get this error when I try to access the Site Collection after performing this The user does not exist or is not unique.<nativehr>0x81020054</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack> In the sharepoint log I get this same error plus this Could not get token super user token, reverting to system account.&

Hyphens in domain names get trimmed from account names in user profiles

We've been trying to launch an internal deployment of SharePoint 2010 MySites but we've run in to a problem with the user profile import. We've reviewed all of the relevant guidance and have been able to complete an import successfully, but all of the characters before a hyphen in our domain name are getting truncated from the imported username. To illustrate:   PREFIX-BLAH\tristan.watkins becomes BLAH\tristan.watkins after it is imported. When I log in, a new user profile is created for PREFIX-BLAH\tristan.watkins and all of the imported profile data is useless, since it is associated with a non-existent BLAH\tristan.watkins.   I'm assuming this is an issue with the beta version of Forefront Identity Manager 2010 that shipped with SharePoint 2010 beta, but I can't find any information suggesting this is a known issue and for all I know it may actually be a SharePoint issue rather than a problem with FIM. For what it's worth, this was not a problem in SharePoint 2007. Can anyone help?

Create user account for web authentication from non-web/local application

Hi, I have an application which is installed on local pc and is using SQL db. It is a client management system where I want to add capability to register new clients and give them access to my web site which is sharing the same SQL database with local application. At the moment clients can register on the web site and I have ASP.NET authorisation system set up with aspnetdb_user, aspnetdb_membership and etc tables. But sometimes it happens that I need to register clients on my local application on PC and ideally would like that registration to create online account for the client as well. Then I want to be able to send him user id and password by email and let him know that he has been registered in my database and online account is ready for him as well. Basically I want to have full synchronization between asp.net membership service and local application through SQL db. As I said both online and local apps are shareing the same SQL database. I would like to know if it is possible at all and what would be the best practice to implement it. Thank you.

User Profile Synchronization: Name of user account / id uses wrong Netbios domain name?!

I've got an interesting situation: I've got a domain e.g. FOOBAR.FI. The Netbios domain is due to historical reasons BARFOO. When I use UPS to import accounts from the FOOBAR.FI domain, the user account names in SharePoint are given the id of FOOBAR\<useraccount>. This works so and so. Users are identified and My Sites is fine. However the organizational chart and other fields where you can specify another user don't work as they should. If the manager is specified from AD, the organizational chart works. However, if I edit a profile and check the manager, it's in the form of FOOBAR\<useraccount>. SharePoint highlights this and a tooltip says that the account cannot be found. As a suggestion, it gives BARFOO\<useraccount>, which is found from the AD. All fine and dandy, until you check the organizational chart, which turns out to be empty at this point. This is because in SharePoint there's no user with the name BARFOO\<useraccount>, but only those FOOBAR\<useraccount> users who've been imported from the AD. So bottom line question is: How does UPS select and set the user account name?

SharePoint 2007 - Survey list - Getting user's Windows account ID from a web service using display

Surveys...grrrr.   I am developing a .NET console application that accesses survey data from a single survey list using the MOSS web service "Lists".   I am able to enumerate the survey list and get to the items except for the author of the survey response.  When I get to the column ows_Author, it appears to be a lookup value formatted like this:  "1066;#JOHN DOE".   How can I, using web services alone, lookup the corresponding Windows login ID of that user?  If I go to the survey in SharePoint and click on the name in the view, it takes me to a site-based user profile page that does show the account ID I want.  The page that displays appears to be a virtualized page like this "_layouts/userdisp.aspx?ID=1066".   What I really need is JOHN DOE's account ID like "domain\id". Can I get to this with the data I have available? Thanks

Creating local user account in Sharepoint 2010

I need to create a few account in Sharepoint 2010 that don't belong to the active directory import. I have logged on to the Sharepoint server and created the accounts and expected them to appear when I went to Site Settings and then people and groups and searched for the account names.

I did the same in 2007 and these still appear as the machinename/username.

Is there something I don't know about?

The Windows account doman\user does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator
Error result: -2068578304
Result facility code: 1204

domain/user is a domain administrator and also a local administrator and is the currently logged in user.  This failure is happening as part of A Citrix XenApp 6.0 configuration which was started as an Administrator

A Google search for
"The Windows account" "does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator"
Came up with absolutely nothing.

A Google search for -2068578304 failed to find anything, which did not surprise me.

-2068578304 translates into hex as 84B40000.

A Google search for 84B40000

Comes up with a fair few different textual descriptions with the same error code, which I am wading through.

Any help would be welcome.  I am also asking my friends at Citrix.

With thanks in advance.
