InfoPath Deployment as a Feature

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
My problem is as follows:  We have a custom content type called eForm that inherits from Form. I have a browser based InfoPath form with code behind that needs to be deployed as a feature AND needs to inherit from eForm The content type deploys properly and inherits as expected when I try to launch the form in the browser the client opens and eventually says it can't find the template  I wondering if this is even possible as SharePoint will deploy the form as a content type anyway.  Thanks so much for any help!   Jason My feature.xml file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <   Feature xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/"     Id="2143d033-8aa5-41be-8c62-75f94be6d9b1"     Title="ROW.InfoPath.PublishingRequisition"     Description="Deploys the Corporate Publishing Requisition Content Type and InfoPath form template"     Version=""     Scope="Site"     DefaultResourceFile="ipfscore"     ReceiverClass="Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Administration.XsnFeatureReceiver"     ReceiverAssembly="Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429

Infopath Template Deployment Locking Existing Records

We are currently using SharePoint Server 2007 and have multiple InfoPath lists configured and one workflow tasks list. We have workflows configured for these InfoPath lists using Visual Studio to design these workflows and use InfoPath forms as the main document. After using the workflow items for a while we have changed and upgraded the workflow for the last year. The issue came when we tried to upgrade to the third version we designed.

We have two InfoPath lists in SharePoint that have identical form templates. In both lists there are around 3000-3100 InfoPath forms give or take. I modified the template to accommodate some new fields and promoted additional fields but did not go over the

Error when activating Infopath form deployed as a feature

I've packaged a form as a feature and created the appropriate WSP file for it.  i then deployed this feature to a target system using the following commands: @SET STSADM="C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN\STSADM" @ECHO OFF ECHO Retract Solution %STSADM% -o retractsolution -n "Crown.SharePoint.CAPEXForm.wsp" -immediate ECHO ====== %STSADM% -o execadmsvcjobs ECHO Remove Solution %STSADM% -o deletesolution -n "Crown.SharePoint.CAPEXForm.wsp" -override ECHO ====== %STSADM% -o execadmsvcjobs ECHO Adding Solution %STSADM% -o addsolution -f "Crown.SharePoint.CAPEXForm.wsp" ECHO ====== %STSADM% -o execadmsvcjobs ECHO Deploying Solution %STSADM% -o deploysolution -n "Crown.SharePoint.CAPEXForm.wsp" -immediate -allowgacdeployment -force ECHO ====== %STSADM% -o execadmsvcjobs The deployment process completes without errors, and when I check under Central Admin > Solution Mgmt, my feature is there and shows as "Deployed/Globally Deployed".  So all looks good at this time. However, when I go to the Site Collection and try to activate the feature I get this error -- any ideas what may be going on here or what I'm missing? Feature '25f5615f-b338-48ff-8eb7-2ba05dd9972c' could not be installed because the loading of event receiver assembly "Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server

Feature Deployment of Inherited Content Type

I'm encountering a strange behaviour and I'm not sure of the root cause or solution.  I have a custom content type that inherits from form with a content type id of: 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.  This was created in from the SharePoint UI. I'm attempting to deploy an inherited content type from as a feature.  The feature activates fine but no content type appears in the UI.  From that point forward I get the following error in the UI if I attempt to create a child content type of 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.    "The local device name is already in use. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070055) "  In the logs I see the following error 3 times: Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a8601". At this point I uninstall the feature but still can't delete the original custom content type because it says the content type is in use.  Using the SP Manager tool from codeplex shows me that the child content type is still associated with the parent despite the fact that it never showed up in the UI! Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c9

MOSS 2007 Content Deployment Issue Could not find Feature UsageReportingTemplateList

Could not find Feature UsageReportingTemplateList

Please help

Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': An object of the type Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.

While trying to deploy custom SharePoint workflow solution in VS 2010, along with InfoPath custom task edit form, I ran into the following error message.

Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': An object of the type Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Administration.FormTemplate named xxx already exists under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPFarm named xxx Rename your object or delete the existing object

How can I resolve this problem? I have did some research but none helpful so far.

Feature deployed InfoPath Forms not retracting completely.

I've deployed dozens of custom InfoPath forms using the Solution\Feature technique described here:

Basically when you deploy the feature it runs an InfoPath feature receiver which uploads the InfoPath form and wires up the content type. If you ever needed to update the form you would just run the 'upgradesolution' command and then retract the solution and immediately redeploy it.  That would result in the new form getting uploaded to the server.

Everything works fine with MOSS 2007 but it's not cleaning up completely in 2010. I can deploy the forms fine, and any existing forms are working, but when I retract the solution there are still entries left in the sharepoint_config database so it won't let me redeploy a new version of the form - ever.

Here's the error message:

An object of the type Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Administration.FormTemplate named "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:FormNameHere:-myXSD-2009-06-19T17-58-09" already exists under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPFar

Using SharePoint Search feature in ASP.Net Application

Integrating ASP.Net application in to MOSS 2007 to utilize SharePoint Enterprise Search Feature can be done by using Business Data Search.

Debugging ASHX after deployment

I'm finished with a part of my ASHX handler and need to test it against the software that'll be calling it using HTTP POST. The software required an https url so I created an internally hosted site in IIS and published the project there.

Question now is how do I do any debugging on the script to see what data is coming out of it before the data goes back into the software that's calling it? Do I set something on the project itself to be able to step into the published DLL?

Multiple MSIs from one deployment project

We have several .NET based products for which we need to generate multiple MSI files to allow for multiple instances of the same app to be installed on the same machine.  For instance, we might have a single server running version of the app that are pointed at either test or QA databases, or may use the same server box to deploy the product for multuple clients.  (So, for instance, our web server might have separate installs of the same code in different locations for product names "Client A test", "Client A QA", "Client B Test", etc., where the only real differences are in the web.cionfig files that are not overwritten by the install of a new version.)

Right now we simply have a deployment project for each named variation of the app.  This works, but is likely to become a maintenance mess as the number of instances grows.  We'd like to be able to maintain only a single deployment project and script the creation of multiple MSIs, one for each product variation, after the build of a baseline MSI.

As I understand it, this should be acheivable by building the MSI, then for each possible instance, making a copy of the MSI and giving it a unique ProductCode and PackageCode; this way Windows should recognize each instance as a unique application.  I've done this (as well as changing the produc

web deployment project (WS_deploy) on VS2008

I am building a asp.net webservice in VS2008 and the web service compiles and debug fine. The project should be using : Net 3,5

 I have

  1. VS2005 and VS208 installed
  2. .Net 1.1 - 3.5
  3. WebDeploymentSetup for VS2008 (and most likely a version for VS2005 as well)

But when I add a web deployment project the fun stops. The .WS_deploy project will not compile and I cannot find any precompiled output.

vs2010 web deployment project restarts w3svc even when restartwwwservice = false

We've updated some of our projects from VS2008 to VS2010.  When these projects are deployed the w3svc is restarted on the target machine, even when restartwwwservice = false in the vdproj file.

This was a problem in 2008 until SP1 (http://forums.asp.net/p/1300097/2534736.aspx).  Does this same problem exist in VS2010?

This is a major problem for us -  we need to be able to deploy projects without restarting IIS.

I've tried creating a new web deployment package and setting the restartWWWService field to false, but this still does a restart when it's installed.

Has anyone come across this problem in VS2010?

Web deployment project - web.config section replacement does not add remove tag

I have a web application that is actually installed as a component of a third party site.  In some configurations, I need to remove certain connection strings and re-add them.  I'm replacing this web.config section with a xml file that includes the following:

      <remove name="MyOverridenConnection"/>
      <add connectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=MyDb;Data Source=MyServer" name="MyOverridenConnection"

For some reason the remove tag is left out during the substitution and I end up with the following in the installed config:

      <add connectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=MyDb;Data Source=MyServer" name="MyOverridenConnection"

Is there any way to issue removes in replaced sec

Web Deployment with IIS settings of remote server

Im trying to deploy a web application project (VS 2010) via team build (TFS 2010), i got to use IIS settings of development server for deployment. So from the project properties I configured the web projects to use Custom web server, (enabled radio button), once i do this the Option in the tab Package/Publish Web "Include all IIS Settings as configured in IIS manager" gets disabled and as a result the deployed web project does not have this IIS settings.

What am I missing here, Im not using the option "Use local IIS Web Server" because the build happens in a build server and would try to take local IIS settings for packaging which is not present.

If this is not possible, suggest me any workaround. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
