Hello all,I am running into an interesting scenario on my desktop.  I'm running developer edition on Windows XP Professional (9.00.3042.00 SP2 Developer Edition).  OS is autopatched via corporate policy and I saw some patches go in last week.  This machine is also a hand-me-down so I don't have a clean install of the databases on the machine but I am local admin.So, starting last week after a forced remote reboot (also a policy) I noticed a few of the databases didn't start back up.  I chalked it up to the hard shutdown and went along my merry way.  Friday however I know I shut my machine down nicely and this morning when I booted up, I was in the same state I was last Wenesday.  7 of the 18 databases on my machine came up withFCB:pen: Operating system error 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) occurred while creating or opening file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\Test.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation.and it also logs  FCB:pen failed: Could not open file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\Test.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.).I've caught references to the auto close feature being a possible culprit, no dice as the databases in question are set to Fal

Error: 5123 CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.)

 HI ,

 This is a problem I encountered when I had to detach a database file (type .mdf):

 1) I went to the MS SQL Management Server Studi and detached my database file successfully from a connection called Workhorse.

2) I needed to place the .mdf database file into a zip file in order to put it on a remote server. I did this using Shared Portal.  This was also successful

3) However when I tried reattaching the database file, I got this error:

CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file "C\Program Files\MSSQL Server\MSSQL\Data\<databasename>.mdf'

Q) The database file and log file (ldf) exist in the correct directory so I don't know what happened. Can any one help?

 Thanks much

Restoring 2008 Database with Filestream - Process cannot access file error

I'm trying to restore a copy of a database that has a filestream and am getting the error below. I've tried with move option to specify a new path and left it with default path, neither worked. Did a trace with procmon, didn't see anything. FileStream1 is a new folder that the restore process creates. I've deleted the folder, tried it with a new name, re-took the backup from the source machine, restarted SQL, rebooted the machine, drive permissions are open. I've run out of ideas on how to debug further. Looking up the error online wasn't much help either. Msg 3634, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The operating system returned the error '32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)' while attempting 'OpenFile' on 'X:\Data\FileStream1\4ecb2e48-0eee-4c99-a3f0-f1e6c7f00b24\f2efe374-9481-4c1b-a7f2-dcdcee350807\0000001b-0000aaa6-00f6'. Directory lookup for the file failed with the operating system error 5

Hi I have a Windows desktop application that uses a SQLServer Express database.  The database files are downloaded from my website, followed by the application download (written in VBE).  The first procedure is to attach the database to the SQLServer instance from within the application. I have two test machines one runs Windows XP x84, the other Windows 7 x64.  I never have issues on attaching the database files in my test envirnoment but twice now other people downloading have got the following error System.Data.Sqlclient.sqlexception (ox 80131904) Directory lookup for the file C:\Documtents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Tem1.mdf failed with the operating system error 5 (failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason 1815) changed database context to 'master'. I'm not sure what the problem is and therefore how to correct the issue.  I attach the database in code using the create statement e.g. cmd7.CommandText = "USE Master CREATE DATABASE Tem1 ON PRIMARY (FILENAME = '" & DBFullPath & "') LOG ON (FILENAME = '" & DbLogPath & "') FOR ATTACH" Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Error when trying to open a file with Process.Start()

Well, I have a folder called GUI. Inside GUI thers another folder called PDF and inside this folder, there are some PDF files. This folder (GUI) is uploaded to the server too.

Then I have a WebForm with some ImageButtons. When I click one of these ImageButtons, I want the file to open in a new tab. I tried with the following code:

private void LnkRelease_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
 try { if ((((System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl)(sender))).ToolTip != "") { string virtualFolder = @"~\GUI\"; string physicalFolder = Server.MapPath(virtualFolder); string virtualPath = physicalFolder + "PDF" + @"\" + ((System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl)(sender)).ToolTip;  System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(virtualPath);
  } else { Console.WriteLine("The URL is broken"); } } catch (Exception ex) { throw ex; } }

As you can see, I build the path using the tooltips of the different ImageButtons. The ToolTip = File Name I want to open.

When I try this in debug mode, it works. It opens the pdf file in a new tab. However when I

The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).

Hi.   I have read the other threads regarding this but they do not solve my problem. All i am trying to do is upload a file from the webserver onto another server via FTP. But i get the above error and am at my wits end as to why.   below is the code:   Dim fs As New FileStream("H:\Visual Studio 2005\Websites\Website1\testfile.txt", FileMode.Open) Dim filecontents(fs.Length) As Byte fs.Read(filecontents, 0, fs.Length)   Dim remotePath As String = "ftp://elonwactd.uk.ml.com/apps/files/IPBHVGTRADE/QA5/in/testfile.txt" Dim ftp As FtpWebRequest = FtpWebRequest.Create(remotePath) ftp.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("user1", "passwd1") ftp.KeepAlive = False ftp.UseBinary = True   ' (have tried UploadFile as well instead of UploadFileWithUniqueName) ftp.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.UploadFileWithUniqueName     fs.Close()   ftp.GetRequestStream.Write(filecontents, 0, filecontents.Length) ftp.GetRequestStream.Close() ftp.GetResponse.Close()     Below is the stack trace that i get. I'm getting this error following installing SQL 2008 on a Windows 2008 R2 OS when trying to open SQL studio, can anyone offer explanation why this is occurring ?  I have installed SQL 2008 SP1. I see many others have also had this issue but cannot find a documented solution and/or confirm reason as to why it occurs.

File not found error when trying to open site permissions on a blog site

We have created a simple team site and a block subsite.  When trying to edit the site permissions we see the following error.  Any ideas? When opening a blog site and clicking Site Actions - site permissions we received a new page with the following error: Error File Not Found Troubleshoot issue with Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation Correlation ID: 51b54786-f344-4474-b88e-3080c363693 Date and Time: 3/24/2010 3:03:38 PM

Uploading a file to a document library produces access denied error, but only on first try.

Hi I have a task which uses a custom form which is part of a custom workflow.  The form incorporates an asp fileUpload control to allow a user to browse for a local file which they can then select and it will be upload a file to a folder in a document library.  The first time this action is performed the folder in the document library will not exist so the code creates a folder and then uploads the file to it. The problem I have is, the first time users try and upload a file the directory is created in the document library as expected, but then the user gets redirected to the standard SharePoint Access Denied page.  If the user goes back to the task list, then loads the task web page again, selects the same file and hits upload, then the file is uploaded fine. All subsequent file uploads work fine after that for all users. Users have Contribute permissions on the document library. The code to do the upload is as follows.  The task has a "CR Number" associated with it, which the directory in the doc library should be called.  It uploads the file to a stream.  Then gets the url of the web and works out the file url and uploads it.  The creation and checking of the folder in the doc library happens in the getDirUrl method. /// <summary> /// Processes an uploaded file. /// </summary> /// <param name="
