Cannot create instance of "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "(null)" on x64 Vista with x6

I am attempting to take data from an Excel 2007 spreadsheet and use OpenDataSource to throw the data into a SQL Server 2008 SP1 table under an x64 OS and x64 SQL Server.  I was able to get this to work under x86 versions of the OS and SQL by setting sp_MSset_oledb_prop with values of AllowInProcess and DynamicParameters to 1.  However, under x64 SQL 2008, when I set the AllowInProcess option to 1, I get the following error:  "OLEDB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode."  If I turn this flag off, I receive the error shown above in the title.I saw suggestions about creating a .Net program and then forcing it to target an x86 processor, but this method did not work either.  I also saw suggestions about installing the 2007 Data Access drivers, and although I believe they already were installed, I installed them specifically, but it changed nothing.  I also tried remotely accessing the x64 system from an x86 environment, but it also changed nothing. Therefore, I cannot get the OpenDataSource method to work from Mgmt Studio or from an x86 program, so I would appreciate insights into how someone is supposed to be able to retrieve data from an Excel 2007 workbook in an x64 environment.  I find it hard to believe that with numerous servers running on x64 t

Linked Server using ASE OLE DB Provider and Select * into where datetime maps to SQL Server datetime

Hi, I'm currently using MSSQL Server 2008 x64 SP1 [Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit)], version 10.0.2531.0.  I'm using Sybase ASE 15.0.3 ESD#3, or 15.5 ESD#1, and doing a simple Select into query where my original table on ASE, pubs..sales with DDL: stor_id     char(4)     not null, ord_num  varchar(20) not null, date         datetime    not null I run this query with Linked Server, using ASE OLE DB Provider x64, 15.5.0.1016: select * into mssql_sales from openquery(ASE1550, 'select * from pubs2..sales') The table mssql_sales has the datetime datatype from ASE mapped to datetime2(7). Create view that amins to tables of another database on the same sql server instance

Hi to everybody, I found a situation ever met before. I develop on Dynamics NAV 5.01 and I have developed a method to be able to see some particular tables of an external database. In substance it deals with a property of tables of Dynamics NAV. When I create a table in NAV, I can create it in 3 different ways: table common to all the companies table  for company or table linked to a view.    This last case is mine, on the same db of NAV I have created a view with some fields, I have created in NAV a table linked with equal fields and types. Until here all normal.    The view, however, aims to another database that doesn't center anything with NAV but that it is on the same intance of SQL server.    The consumer that accesses NAV is a consumer type database SQL Server and has the permitted db_public and db_datareader on both the database. Then he can read the views on the db of nav both on the db of the other database.    When it tries to enter from the console of sql server, with the consumer database, all it works, if I do it by NAV, it show me an error "The server principal "username" is not able to access the database "some_database_name" under the current security context. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 916) "    If I add on the database NAV to the consumer, the role db_owner,

Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "ADSDSOObject" for linked server

Hi

I run following query in sql server 2005

Trouble with: Linked Server to Oracle using OraOLEDB.ORacle Provider

Hi--

I am running SQL Server 2005 on Win2k3:

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio      9.00.2047.00
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools      2005.090.2047.00
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)      2000.086.1830.00 (srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447)
Microsoft MSXML      2.6 3.0 4.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer      6.0.3790.1830
Microsoft .NET Framework      2.0.50727.42
Operating System      5.2.3790

I have the OraOLEDB.Oracle provider installed to the (C:\oraclexe) directory.

I am having problems querying from linked oracle server.  When i setup oracle as a linked server and purposely enter an incorrect password the query i run tells me i have an incorrect password.   So it at least knows that.  when i set the correct password and run a query I get this error:

(i replaced the real server name with "someServer".)

Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

The OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "SomeServer" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.

I following the steps to create the linked server in the GUI but failed with the following error message.

Damn this (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

Well my problem is this error message Message="A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)"

What I mean is that when I use Server Explorer Window on VS2008 every thing is fine (I can even insert and modify data from server explorer), in fact, when I use Datatables and I choose to preview data through TableAdapters (Design Time) I get data, and also can run the queries from there directly to the data base, but when I'm debbugin the application I get this error.

-when I run Sql Server Management Studio, its also fine, even though I can't see the Sql instance on the server (or any of my partners machine) when I try to browse them. But if I type the server path (servername\instancename) everything is OK.

-I know the problem is not the connection string 'cause mya partners nd I use the sa

How to Create a linked server to an iSeries (V5R4M0 and others probably) Using IBM's OLE DB Drivers

In the past we researched this many times before and tried extensively in the past on SQL 2000 and always failed to get linked servers working Via IBM's OLE DB providers. This left us having to use Microsoft's ODBC drivers instead and then a rather clunky manually written Openquery method to query data despite having read that this could be quite slow in comparison.

Anyway we are finally upgrading our SQL server to 2008 (Standard Edition AP Clusters, we had Enterprise before but didn't use anything bar clustering from this edition) I decided to have another go, having discovered that Microsoft think we ought to pay Enterprise edition money if we want to use their OLE DB drivers for DB2 I was even more determined to get IBM's (included free with Iseries Access) own OLE DB drivers working.

Anyway I have finally puzzled out settings that work and its actually quite easy through Server Management Studio. I thought I would post details here for anyone else who has struggled to get this working. Similar settings should in theory work through SISS though I haven't done enough with SISS yet to give details!

First Open Server Management Studio (SMS) and expand out

Server Objects, then Linked Servers, then Providers.

Right click Properties on the Providers you want to use (IBM ones start IBM, they are DA400, DASQL and DARLA, The f

ATL OLE DB Provider in SQL Server as linked server

Hi
I don't know if this is the good forum for my question:

- I need to create a OLE DB Provider which can work in SQL Server (as a linked server).

- I use Visual Studio 2010, and try to use ATL Framework.
If I start a new projet ATL, and add ATL OLE DB Provider class by defaut
or, if I use examples advancedPV and updatePV.

the builds are ok.

I see the My ole db providers in sql server, but I can not use it.

Error : 7403.

I can use ole providers in others clients (without "begintrans" method) and it work,

- what must I implement in the default ATL OLE DB Provider projet for use it in MS SQL Server ?
- where I can find codes sources samples ?
- others solutions ?

thanks in advance

best regards

Francis
