SQL Server Configuration Manager: Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion

I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over.  Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in.  The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one.   All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account.  When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.".  I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up.   All of the SQL Server services run fine.  It is just this management console that I cannot open.  I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history.   Any help would be appreciated.

SQL Server Configuration Manager - Protocol Name is blank

When I run SQL Server Configuration Manager (2008) and click on SQL Server Network Configuration and then Protocols for SQL, the right side of the screen shows the protocol icons and their status, but the names (TCP/IP, Shared Memory, Named Pipes, etc) are not there. Can someone tell me how to get the names to display again? They used to show up. A thought is that I installed XP SP3 and that made them go away, but I can't prove that.

Report Server Instance not shown in SQL 2008 R2 version for Configuration Manager

I am using Windows Server 2003. I have installed SQL Server 2005 and SQL 2008 R2 version in the machine. The sql server 2008 R2 version has the instance name as SQL2008R2

I am trying to configure "Reporting services Configuration Manager" for the SQL 2008 r2. I gave the machine name and hit the Find button, I am not able to get the Report server instance name.

But when I gave the server name, i am able to browse to the folders page in the Internet explorer. so the server is available . I gave like this in the IE, and I am able to see the page:

http://Server IP/Reports_SQL2008R2/Pages/Folder.aspx

In the eventvwr, I found the following errror "The Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.SQL2008R2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config file failed to load. This error may occur if the XML is not valid. "

How to get the Report server instance name in the configuration manager.

Thank you

Test Run: Configuration Testing With Virtual Server, Part 2

Because Virtual Server is built upon a set of COM modules, you can automate the creation and testing of virtual machines. Here we use Windows PowerShell to run the tests.

Asp.net server controls in BlackBerry Browser

The article Asp.net server controls in BlackBerry Browser was added by roopeshreddy on Monday, May 24, 2010.

Hi All,Some of the asp.net server controls(.NET 2.0) like DropDownList control, LinkButton etc., has postback property. When User clicks or selects these controls, a Postback will occur. Let us consider LinkButton control, which is extension of the HyperLink

All my server-controls became unrecognized!!! like there's compilation error or web.config missing!

please help - the problem is in post subject.

I have lots of warnings with following text:

"Warning 10 Element 'HyperLink' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing. C:\Users\Pavel\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\BioWebSite\ToScientist.aspx 26 18 C:\...\BioWebSite\"

But web.confg is there! And there's no compilation error!

Site builds just fine. And If I upload it to my hoster - it works!

But with all these errors I cant add controls to pages - VS2010 adds hyperlink without ID, and intelisens stoped to work.

Strange, but in my other project (web-application) I have no such difficuty.

Cannot enable TCP/IP through the Configuration Manager

Hi, I am using SQL Server 2008 sp1 Developer Edition.  The database engine service is running and the SQL browser service is running. It is set to allow remote connections. When I open SQL Server Configuration Manager and expand the SQL Server Network Configuration mode and select Protocols for <server name>, it shows Shared Memory as Enabled and all others as Disabled. If I right click on TCP/IP and select Enable, I get a warning stating that the changes will be saved but will not take effect until after I restart the service. When I click OK on the warning popup to close it, it still shows TCP/IP as Disabled. After I restart the service I return to the Protocols screen and check the value of TCP/IP. It is still Disabled. I am still unable to connect to it remotely. Configuration Manager is not allowing me to enable TCP/IP. I need to do this. I looked for an alternate way to enable TCP/IP but have not been able to find one that works.  Any thoughts?

Cannot start SQL Server Browser

Hello, I use SQL Server 2005 for multi-user access.  In the Surface Area Configuration, I changed the protocol from TCP/IP to Named Pipes and restarted the service.  Then I went to SQL Server Browser, stopped it and clicked on Start to restart.  I am getting a message "An error occurred while performing this operation".  I am not able to get the Browser started.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SQL server memory / speed configuration

Let me preface this by saying I'm aware of SQL server memory architecture, i.e it takes as much as it can get it's hand's on ...I've read through all the post's on here and they have been very helpful ... However if someone could take a look at these these configuration values ... I'm trying to get a new server dialed in, I'm still having some user end speed issues, and application hangup's that seem sql related ... I'm by no means a dba so if someone who's knowledgeable could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it ... I feel like something is not configured properly ... The box has Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (RTM) 64-bit on Windows NT 6.0 <X64> Service Pack 2 Dell Power Edge R10 16 Logical CPU, 8 Hyperthread 12gig of memory (Right now SQL has 10/12 gig allocated in the task manager ( I know this is not accurate ) I'm adding another 12 gig tomorrow ... So the machine will be running 24 gig) There's two 9 gig databases running on the machine with several 4-6 million row tables .... Server is SQL Dedicated Configuration Values   Page Life Expectancy 18,038 under moderate load, tho I've seen it as low as 1,200 under heavy load .... "Server Objects and Events" missing

Using in-line code in VS 2010 RC and I can't get the "server objects and Events" drop down to show up.Not sure if this is a bug or what...in VS 2005 / 2008 it would just appear at the top of in-line code files.  I've checked the options/settings menus and haven't found any way to enable it.
