This machine had sql server 2008 installed. I removed it since the upgrade would not work. The machine currently doesn't have any sql installs. The error fails during the Setup Support Files step. Any
help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've included last part of file since you can only include 60k chars here.

We have SQL server 2008 installed in a virtual server and I just want to download tools for querying etc...om my pc. I downloaded the SQL Server 2008 Managemnt Express and installed the tools. My DBA is saying remove the express install and install the tools
from the full version. Is he correct or could I have used the SSME install to query the full version?
I am using Windows Server 2003. I have installed SQL Server 2005 and SQL 2008 R2 version in the machine. The sql server 2008 R2 version has the instance name as SQL2008R2
I am trying to configure "Reporting services Configuration Manager" for the SQL 2008 r2. I gave the machine name and hit the Find button, I am not able to get the Report server instance name.
But when I gave the server name, i am able to browse to the folders page in the Internet explorer. so the server is available . I gave like this in the IE, and I am able to see the page:
In the eventvwr, I found the following errror "The Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.SQL2008R2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config file failed to load. This error may occur if the XML is not valid. "
How to get the Report server instance name in the configuration manager.
Hello, When installing any version of Sharepoint(2007,2010) during the "Creating Configuration Database" Step it takes over 10 hours to complete. Then creating a web app takes just as long. and the sites are extreemply slow.
1) DB Server - SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2
2) Webserver - to host Sharepoint 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2
The Servers are on the same network and running with lots of horsepower, disk and memory. Are there any know issues with this and should we install Cummulative Update 3? Maybe that has a fix. We exhausted all our options and need justification
to apply the CU3 hotfix(s).
Thanks for your help.
How do I identify if the SQL Server 2008 R2 version that is installed is 32 bit or 64 bit. I see that the are some files in Program Files directory and some others in Program Files(x86) directory on an Windows Server 2008 R2 OS.
Let me know what shall i do for this,
The Merge Agent failed after detecting that retention-based metadata cleanup has deleted metadata at the Subscriber for changes not yet sent to the Publisher. You must reinitialize the subscription (without upload). (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147199401)

i know it was a SQL bug in 2005 but i guess it should have some work around, out of increasing the rentention Days...
Even after increasing the Days we are getting the same error message.
Our Envi settings are like:
Merge type Pull subscriptions
Publisher: Sql server 2008 Sutdio 64bit
Subscribers: 2008 Express SP1
Existing Retention Days : 14days
Please advice me i am fed up with this error, we have 1300 Subscribers its hitting some or other way.
I am using SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and one of our servers running as a windows service (on Windows Server 2008 R2) contacts the SQL Server 2008 in a timely fashion to get some information. During one of these runs, we encountered the following
error logs in the service logs and thereby we took a hit in serving client requests. The jdbc jar that is used for database connectivity is of version 3.0 (sqljdbc.jar).
I can provide more details on this issue. Can someone please let us know why this can be occurring ? Just so you know, the set of errors repeats itself after sometime although on a different JDBC Connection (with different ConnectionID). We have a reconnection
algorithm running in case the JDBC Connection is lost for some reason (but I would be surprised if this issue relates to the re-connect algorithm).
