How to Establish a Remote Web Site Connection in SharePoint Designer 2007

I am modifying a SharePoint site and so far so good.  Some of the objects were created using Visual Studio 2008 (C#).  I was able to modify these objects and implement them on the targete machine without issue.  The final step is to implement the ASPX pages that were modified using SharePoint Designer 2007.  These are aspx pages that are used to modify items in lists.  All the pages involved in this upgrade are customized.  I need to upgrade the target site with the modified version of these pages.  My intent is to copy the code from the page in the source site and past it into the same page on the target site.  I tried using the Remote Web Site connection tool in SharePoint Designer 2007 but received the following error message:

"Unable to open 'https://(site address)'.  Server Error:  Could not find a Web server at 'website'.  Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly.  If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be temporarily out of service."

I am not sure how to first check to see if the Web Server is temporarily out of service.  I would appreciate your input on how to verify this.

Background information of target machine:  WinServer 2008, IIS 7, Sharepoint (MOSS2007), site on port 80

Web Site Admin Tool - cannot establish connection

Hello,

I have a question with this tool.  I have a database listed in the App_folder, and the database has a connection in Server explorer.  The connection string is listed in the web.config file, and I am able to add users and roles with the Web Admin Tool.  However, when in the Web Admin Tool, under Configuration tab, I receive an error when I click on the "test" button.  The error reads

" Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."

How can this be, and how do I correct this?

thanks

The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure

I've gone through lot of articles and not one solution worked for me:

I'm having IIS 7 on Windows 2k8 with SSRS 2008.

How SSL is configured: Its configured to access SSL over existing web-site. final url looks like https://url/reports. When I enter this URL I get the error message.

But, if I connect to same site using non SSL website from my local machine, it works fine. For example, if i use VS 2008 web server and connect to it, it works and shows me report, but as soon as I deploy it on webserver having SSL enabled, it just throws this message.

Somebody please help me wid this one

Can not establish a connection to SQL Server 2008 R2 via Visual Studio 2010 Framework 4.0

Hello All, I would appreciate any help with this.

I believe my problem exists within the web.config which already had code in it to connect to SQL Server Express 2008.

I uninstalled the SQL Server Express that came with Visual Studio 2010.

I installed SQL Server 2010 R2 Developer, and I'm able to connect via Management Studio and through Visual Studio's Server Explorer's Data Connections I am connected.

I did run aspnet_regsql.exe within the 4.0 folder in order to create the database with Microsoft Service Providers.

Here is the ServerName: USER-5529234649

Here is the name of the DataBase:  StepByStepChapter9

Here is the name of the Connection within Visual Studio's Server Explorer's Data Connections:  user-5529234649.StepByStepChapter9.dbo

Here is the code I changed in the web.config:

<configuration>
  <connectionStrings>
      <!--<add name="ApplicationServices"
            connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated   Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|\aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true"
            providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />-->
      <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="data source=user-5529234649\Step

Cannot establish connection to sql2008 aspnetdb - WebSite Administration tool

Good Afternoon all.

Noobie to asp.net and Admin Tool Site

Getting error: "Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider.
"

I am not usign SQL Express

1. Installed VS2008 + sp1 after that Installed SQL 2008 Standard x86 + sp1

2. Used aspnet_regsql to add aspnetdb to the sql (I can see that db in MSSMS)

3. From my WebProject I can access WSAT but when I click on the Provider and try to test I am getting above error.

Tried diffetent settings in the web.config and also check machine.config

Check different solutions form different forums but nothing seams to work.

I strongly believe there is something wrong with my <connectionString/> as by default WSAT points to .\SQLEXPRESS but I do not know which file should I update (web.config or machine.config or Web.config)

Do I need to add <connectionStrig> tag to web.config ?

All suggestions highly appreciated and appologise if this topic should no

Cannot establish a TCP Connection.

Hello,

I've written my own classes to have a TCPServer and TCPClient component in the .NET C# application I'm building. These components work fine and passed all unit tests to validate their working and code. I'm perfectly able to establish connections on my own system and to other systems in the same network. For kicks I tried my component to establish a connection to www.google.com on port 80 and it worked fine as well.

However, when I try to establish a connection to a remote location, I get the following error message:

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because the connected host has failed to respond

This remote location is a network from a large company that is added to our network through a  VPN connection, if I'm not mistaking, and becomes part of our network. I can ping the remote location from my system, establish a connection using the old delphi components and use remote desktop. When I try to use my .NET components however, I cannot establish a connection at all and receive the above error message.

This is the code I use to establish a connection to the remote "server" application. I've read some details on the MSDN regarding security and s

SharePoint 2010 and Reporting Services 2008 R2 Integration Fail - Failed to establish connection wit

We have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition on a virtual server (C-SQL) and SharePoint Server 2010 on another virtual server (C-SPOINT), with the SQL Backend of the SharePoint database residing on C-SQL. This worked fine.

SQL Server was installed with the domain administrator account and SharePoint with an account called 'visi' that has domain administrator privileges.

SSRS on C-SQL was initially installed as a native database. I changed this to a SharePoint integrated database with all authentications done as the visi user. Report server url was set to the normal http://C-SQL:80/ReportServer/.

On the SharePoint central administration site under General Application Settings -> Reporting Services Integration I filled in the details as required:

  • Could not establish connection database. ASP.NET Membership and Entity Framework

Ok, so this is my first Solution using the Entity Framework (EF). Here are my steps so far:

    1) Created Database named: BSA with an owner of username/password (AspNetServicesUser/password)
    2) Created Entity Data Model (EDM) in a separate project (contained within the same solution)
    3) Created an ASP.NET Web Application with basic functionality (new project within the same solution)
    4) Added Reference to the EDM in Web App and added Connection String to the EF
    5) Decided I wanted ASP.NET Membership added to the Web App
    6) Configured SQL Server for Application Services using aspnet_regsql.exe on BSA database

    Now, I need to know:
    a) Should I keep the ASP.NET Membership Tables in a Separate DB altogether?
    b) Should I update the EDM to include the ASP.NET Membership Tables?
    c) Then, how do I create the connectionString for the Web.config file in the WebApp?

FYI: I get this error using the ASP.NET Configuration Tool under the "Security" Tab:
    Login failed for user 'AspNetServicesUser'.

FYI: I get this error using the ASP.NET Configuration Tool under the "Provider" Tab --> Select a single provider for all site management data --> Test

Cannot establish an SQL Connection with the server

My machine is not allowing my to establish an SQL connection with an existing server.  All other machines can establish a connection without an issue, however, I keep getting the following error.

How to establish a connection between a web service and windows service

I must establish a connection between a web service and windows service. And i need some sort of listener between these two components when the connection is done both componenets must be informed. such as Web services will send an error message to the end user and the service windows will do a rollback of the operation he was doing.

What is the best way to implement this scenario.

Please help me with a speedy reply

    Thanks in advance

    SQL Connection String

We can learn or know how can we connect the database from our .net. This will help for freshers or .NET beginners!

abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.

ASP.NET provides a configuration system we can use to keep our applications flexible at runtime. In this article we will examine some tips and best practices for using the configuration system for the best results.

The element of a web.config file is a place to store connection strings, server names, file paths, and other miscellaneous settings needed by an application to perform work. The items inside appSettings are items that need to be configurable depending upon the environment, for instance, any database connection strings will change as you move your application from a testing and staging server into production.

    Encapsulation
Let's abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.
