rules execution without workflow and ruleengine

Hi,   I have a XML file with rules. If I execute that XML file using Rule Engine, it is taking lot of time. So I wonder, Can i execute the XML file with C#? convert that file to regular C# code in runtime? and execute it without RuleEngine. Is there any possibility?

Automatic Workflow execution

Hi folks, I have a task list which i have set to (require content approval for submitted items). I want to move the tasks which are APPROVED to another approved list. To accomplish it, i created a workflow in SPD. if Current Item:Approval Status equals 0;#Approved                 Email Current Item:Assigned To                 then Copy item in Current Item to Approved Tasks                 then Delete item in Current Item   I have set the workflow to automatically start when a new item is created or changed. When i approve a task; the workflow does not start. I have to manually start the workflow which then works fine as designed. Please advise what is missing for the automatic worklflow execution to work. You miss 100% of the shots you do not take!

How to do Time bound workflow execution

The requirement is that the workflow should complete in a time specified as a workflow parameter, if it is not able to execute all the activities , it should terminate itself. Can anybody give me an idea how i can do that. regards

sharing data between workflow during execution

Hello, I have number of workflows which are running at the sametime. I have a activity that gets the file from a remote location. It is possible that multiple workflow might require the same file. Is it possible, that once a given workflow has requested for the file, and if someother workflow wants the same, instead of looking for file, it waits for it, when the other workflow has downloaded the file, then it can use the same file. Similarly i have workflow loading files to a dataset, it is possible that other activity might want to load the same to a dataset can somebody please point to me, how can i do it, i have read about extension, but I am not able to find any documention, thats shows how can i use them for sharing information between workflows.

Rules w/ Workflow Queues

I may be barking up the wrong tree but I was wondering if rules could be applied to dequeing items from a workflow queue?  The idea being that I may want to prioritize items in a workflow queue based on certain properties of the items contained within.  From a cursory look they appear straight FIFO so I think the answer is no, but thought I'd check.

EventType clr20r3 on Workflow execution on Windows 2003 64bit

Hi there, I'm in big troubles because I'm facing a big failure on our customers server. Our Workflow Foundation 3.5 based server app crasches with this error:

Event Type:    Error
Event Source:    .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category:    None
Event ID:    5000
Date:        30/03/2011
Time:        14.20.45
User:        N/A
Computer:    WFSERVER
EventType clr20r3, P1 keystoneserver.exe, P2, P3 4d92f52f, P4 system.workflow.runtime, P5, P6 488f01cc, P7 259, P8 310, P9 ddtyh4crnqi0jcb1xjkwm10z55wsa2sj, P10 NIL.

but only on customers server (running Windows 2003 R2 64bit). Yes, on my development PC (Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit) the same code with the same database works fine. What it seems strange is that some time before all worked well. What happened in between I'm not sure... I've installed VS2010 SP1 on the development machine... some Windows 2003 R2 update... I don't know. Does anybody knows the reason for this error? Thanks... I'll appreciate you help... It will keep my had on my neck... :-/

track rules without using workflow?

Im currently using the rules engine in code (not in a workflow) and I'm wondering how it is possible to track rules without using the workflow?

Workflow Services: Visual Design of Workflows with WCF and WF 4

The .NET Framework 4 makes it easier than ever to implement WCF services using WF. We'll demonstrate just how easy it is by modeling a long-running, durable and instrumented workflow based on a real-world business case without having to write any code.

Foundations: Workflow Services for Local Communication

This month's column describes how to use WCF for communication between a workflow and a host application in Windows Workflow Foundation 3. This knowledge should help developers with their efforts using WF3 and prepare them for WF4, where WCF is the only abstraction over queues (referred to as "bookmarks" in WF4) that ships with the framework.

Foundations: Windows Workflow Design Patterns

Design patterns provide a common, repeatable approach to solving software development tasks, and many different patterns can describe how to accomplish a certain goal in code. When developers begin working with Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), they often ask about how to accomplish common tasks with the technology. This month's column discusses several design patterns used in WF.
