How to create scrolling table for columns in a SharePoint Designer Data View

I have a fairly complex SharePoint Designer 2007 Data View they have added two more requirements.

1. Have the columns on the right side be able to scroll left to right as there is a large number of columns, while the first 3 columns on the left side stay locked in place.  This is only one list not two, and because of some other requirements I have it must remain to be just one list.

2. Then they also need to have scrolling up and down of the entire list with the headers locked in place.

The first requirement is more important than the second, but preferrably I need to do both.

I am new to XSL so not familar with the syntax. Is this something I can do on a custom Data View? Does anyone have any examples of how?

I have a drawing that show how it needs to look but I don't see an option here to upload a graphic.

So here is a link to my graphic example uploaded to my blog area: http://lindachapman.blogspot.com/  or just the image here: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_aB01ue__NvQ/TGL42MOvrGI/AAAAAAAAAA4/c3xP4uCy4BU/s1600/Scrolling.png

I failed to mention that 3/4 of the columns are HTML Calculated fields wh

Attachements problems - also - How to add Office Communicator link to sharepoint Form ?

I have created an Infopath 2007 form and published it to Sharepoint 2007.

1. I can add "attachements" to the form, but the function can handle only one attachement per link. If i need to add 10 attachements, i have to create 10 attachement functions to the form.

Is it possible to create one attachement function in the Infopath form, that is able to save several attachements under it?

2. Is it possible to save .exe, .msi and similar files to the form as attachements? Sharepoint says security settings prohibit this.

3. How can i add a link that shows up as MS Office Communicator link in the form? For example: John Smith in Office communicator is now Online. I want his name and his status to show also in the Infopath form, when somebody opens it in Sharepoint.

Please help!

Problem with link on sharepoint

I am having a problem with a link that was created in a link library on sharepoint. We recently upgraded to IE 8 (running on Windows 7). When a user clicks on the link, it starts to open the site in the same page (which is what I want it to do) but then it starts popping up window after window trying to connect ot it. It was working before we upgradfed to IE8. And if I put that link in my regular internet browser it opens just fine. So something is amiss between Sharepoint and IE 8 but I have no clue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Link Access 2007 to SharePoint 2007 Survey

So here is my problemo. I am trying to organize site requests into a system that will let us easially see what requests have come in and who are the particular owners or users associated with the requests. Currently we use a SharePoint 2007 Survey to collect all the requests. I was hoping to upgrade things by linking the Survey list to an Access 2007 db so we can manage the data better. However, whenever I attempt to link the Access DB to a SharePoint list, none of the survey lists show up. I was wondering if there was a way to make it so whenever someone completes a survey, it updates the Access DB. I have figured out a way to get this to work with InfoPath but I would rather use the surveys that already exist. Thank you, Jeb G.

How do I stop line feeds in a Hierarchy field from a SharePoint list to prevent wrapping

I'm developing a Reporting Services 2005 report that includes a Hierarchy field from a SharePoint 2007 list.  The Data Source for the report is an XML type. I would like to display the Hierarchy field on 1 line.  However, it is displaying in 2 or more lines. The field also wraps when rendering to Acrobat (PDF) file.  How can I get rid of the embedded line feed (I believe it's "&#xA").  I've tried using the Replace function in an expression, other functions and changed the properties, e.g., the CanGrow property.  Nothing seems to work. Does anybody have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Why is the scrolling with a scroll wheel on a mouse so choppy in VS.NET 2010?

I have a Microsoft Mouse that contains a scroll wheel used for scrolling the vertical scroll bars in applications. IE, Word, Outlook, Safari, you name it have smooth consistent scrolling when using the wheel.  However in VS.NET 2010 it is real choppy, like the scroll bar moves in steps or increments. Is there a configuration specific to VS.NET 2010 for configuring this?

SharePoint 3.0 stop logging after moving database

Hello! Our SP 3.0 logging and Usage Analysis Processing were used to working ok. After we moved database to another server for disk space reason, there is no new log file generated from the date of db moving. The logging settings and Usage Analysis setting are still the same. We tried disable / re-enable logging, it didn't help. From system log, I saw following errors, and then granted the service account all access to "IIS WAMREG admin Service" DCOM Config based on document found in MSDN. It still not help "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application ..." Could someone please share info/knowledge on similar issue and solutions? I really appreciate it! Thank you in advance! John

Link to Traditional File Shares from SharePoint 2010

Forgive me for possibly not using the right terminology.  I'm trying to determine if Sharepoint 2010 supports linking to traditional files shares so they can be presented as Document Libraries inside Sharepoint.  When searching I find lots of info about the capability to map traditional network drives to a Sharepoint Document Library, however that is essentially the opposite of what our customer needs to do.  Instead they want to keep a large repository of files out of a Sharepoint database, but still present it as a document library to their users.  I know that the BDC supports linking to External Data Sources, but I thought that is just for crawling, and searching external data stores. Is it possible to present a traditional file share \\servername\share as a document library (i.e. https://home.widgets.com/Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx) in Sharepoint 2010?It looks like the capability is there especially because Server 2008 R2 refers to default shares as Libraries.Thanks.Matthew

Hi All,      I want to keep the Forgot Password link in the login page of the Sharepoint FBA Site.     For this, i have make a copy of the login page in the 12 Hive and added an anchor tag by giving link to Forgot Password (FP) page in custom login page. The FP page is located in one of the document library, for which i have given anonymous access to view items there. Its all good, and i am able to navigate to FP page. But i dont want to show any other controls in the master page also to the anonymous user. And one more thing, i have two zones 1)Intranet and 2)extranet, i want to show different FP pages for both. How can i do this...? Please suggest me with this issue...... Thanks in advance

How can I stop a WinFormsHosted control from scrolling over my ScrollViewer?

I have a WPF application where the main window contains a NavigatorFrame and a ScrollViewer, like so: <ScrollViewer x:Name="scrollViewer" HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" > <MainWindow:NavigatorFrame x:Name="navigatorFrame" Background="{StaticResource windowBackground}" IsTabStop="False" NavigationUIVisibility="Hidden" > .... </MainWindow:NavigatorFrame> </ScrollViewer> I use the NavigatorFrame to display WPF Pages, and one of the Pages contains two WinFormsHost controls that each contain a WinForms SyntaxEditor (from Actipro). Unfortunately, when I try to scroll using the ScrollViewer, the WinForms editors move above the scrollbars and overlap other controls in my application. When I remove the ScrollViewer, the SyntaxEditors go back to behaving (except their Page doesn't have scrollbars). My understanding is that WinFormsHosts have a ZOrder that causes them to appear over WPF elements, which may explain this issue. Nevertheless, I'm wondering if

Mysite link missing when accessing sharepoint externally

Hi there,

I have a SharePoint server that works perfectly well internally. When Accessing it from home, users do not get the link to mysite. I have done some reading around (specifically this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288609(office.12).aspx) and wondered if this was to do with the AAM settings. However, many of the articles I have read relate to issues where the link is there but doesn't work. I haven't been able to find anything that directly refers to a missing link. I am at a loss as to what to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
