Save & Send prompts login for FQDN is this a known bug?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I've been able to resolve issue for opening documents from sharepoint with setting the FQDN as part of intranet zone in internet security. I'm not able to though to stop the logins from prompting when you try to go to save & send in word and save to a document library. It doesn't seem to maintain your authentication. When it is not a FQDN like http://sharepoint instead of http://sharepoint.mycompany.com it works fine. I've read that it is a Windows 7 bug but I tried the registry change but that did not seem to fix anything. Any one experienced this issue and fixed it? Anyone know if its just a known bug waiting for a patch?

SharePoint 2010 prompts to save PDF documents when opening.

Our users are being prompted to save PDF documents when clicking on them in SharePoint 2010.  We set the 'Browser File Handling' setting to 'Permissive' for the Web Application, but we are still being prompted for some of the PDF files.  Some PDF files open fine, though.  Doug

Multiple Login Prompts for Intranet

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with specific users when they are attempting to login to our intranet. When they put the  following in the prompt:

They are presented with the authentication prompt 2 or 3 more times. The site is in the trusted group of sites so I don't think it's that. I've logged in with my own account with no issues.

Forgive me if I'm lacking in any more detail but I'm not a developer nor am I nearly as savvy as anyone else on these forums I'm just breaking into the admin functions here as I just started working here. I have no background in sharepoint so any help would be very much appreciated.

If there's more information you need I can see what I can provide. Again, this is occurring on two different users' computers. I've attemped using their logins and pws as well as adding new users as per hosting company. They created new users in AD and had me add them to Sharepoint. No luck.

Thanks in advance!

I've tried to read through a number of various solutions provided both through here and on google but they all seem to lead to the trusted sites solution which is not the problem I'm having. I've tried google for other possible solutions but haven't found anything.

I'm almost certain that our sharepoint server is hosted by someone so any sp

EditForm.aspx submit button prompts user to open/save document.

I'm not sure if anyone can help since I'm dealing with a slightly modified Edit Form and a custom work flow, but here it goes.

I am testing a SharePoint 2010 deployment which uses our 2007 production content database. Most of the database attachment process went okay, but I'm seeing something weird now on my EditForms. Whenever a user uploads a document to a particular document library, we send the user to an edit form to collect some meta data for some custom fields. As soon as you click the submit (OK) button, the form prompts you to open/save the file, as if you were trying to open it from the within the library. Once you handle that pop up, the form is then 'dead'. It doesn't redirect you as it should and the submit/cancel buttons no longer work (yet they are active).

Here's where it gets weird(er). If you try to upload a document from within the library itself, no problem. My issue only happens when you get to the upload page via a dataview of the library from a subsite (which is just a filtered dataview with a site specific filter, nothing too crazy). The link takes you to the normal OOB Upload.aspx just as if you were to get there from the document library itself, but for some reason navigating to it from the dataview (even though it takes you to the same page with the same list ID in the query string) the subsequent editform (again, same form

Save images to SQL CE

Storing binary objects (such as image, office document etc.) into database is a little cumbersome when it comes to retrieval. Hence the most commonly accepted way is only store the file path in the database, and to store the documents on a file share.

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.

I thought this would be simple... Trying to create a login does an ajax check before submit

I have the standard .net login control that is working.  (Still learning .net after 15yrs of classic)

What I want to do is OnButtonClick run a javascript function (to do an ajax call to the db to check if login is valid or not) and if it returns true, then submit the form normally, else don't submit. The piece that I can't figure out, is how to correctly override the default click even to hit my JS routine and then submit the form properly afterwards.

Thanks ahead of time

How to modify the login control

I'd like to record more information than the default control allows as well as perform actions with the input when the form is submitted but I'm having trouble figuring out how.

So firstly, if I want to record the middlename for example, how would I do that, and by default, where would it go if anywhere?
When the form is submitted, I'd like to take specific input, such as just the middlename for example, and write some linq to sql code to specify when and how it's stored.
In what event would I put this code?

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?

Send object from one page to another

I want to create object in 1.aspx, and then send it to 2.aspx. This methods are bad, because:

1)Send object with url, like this:

This is not confidential.

Session["field1"] = "12345"; // set
Object foo = Session["field1"]; // get

This is bad too, because in 2.aspx this fields send to textboxes, and if user go to 2.aspx without 1.aspx, he'll see old data.

Profile not being save after redirect.

I am trying to save values into a Profile on Page1, then redirect to Page2 and access those values.  However, after the page redirects the profile values are blank as if they were never saved.   When stepping through the code I can see that they are being save on Page 1.

I suppose I could use session variables to store the information but I don't understand why saving the profile doesn't work.

Visual Web Developer 2010 Express "Copy Web Site" using different login

I created a site and am trying to grant another pesron access to upload changes to it without giving them my super-user login.

I made a login for her but I can't test whether it works or not because no matter how much I "disconnect" in the Copy Web Site page of VWD 2010, reconnecting to the same site always logs in as my superuser account without prompting me for a login again.

How do I test is the account it set up correctly before having her try to upload to it?    I want to force the login to remote site dialog to pop up again to test her account.

Any ideas?
