Configuring and Getting Started with InfoPath Form Services

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi guys, I have some general questions regarding InfoPath Form services that I've been trying to research but I can't seem to get a straight answer from my google searches, so I'm really hopinh you guys can help me. We recently upgraded to SharePoint Enterprise 2010 and I will be the main person in charge of the content and administration. We had a 3rd party do the installation for us, but they don't know much about the From capabilities. We have several forms that we need to build and put on SharePoint so that our field managers (all around the country in 8 different states) can fill out, and submit. All of the information that they submit, or that is presented on a dropdown menu on the forms will be coming from our Microsoft SQL database on  a new sql2008 server we just bought. I have already made a database on the new server with just two tables in it in order to test out the forms. I was looking around on SharePoint and from the error message I got, I was under the impression that I first needed to build the form on InfoPath2003 (that's the version of office we have) and then just publish the form to SharePoint. Is this true? It's this simple? The more I looke online it seemed that I first needed to upload a data connection to SharePoint Central Administration..? the problem with that I would have to convert our sql database to the data type that it needs with

InfoPath form checked out so 'on create' workflow not being started

Hi all,

I have found a couple of threads asking for advice on how to check in an InfoPath form when it’s saved or submitted to a forms library. The reason for doing this is so a workflow can start based on a new item being created in that library, and so it doesn’t just sit there with a “Starting” status.

The answers I have found contradict each other:

·         You have to do it with a workflow.  This can be done easily with SharePoint Designer if that's an option for you. Source:

Infopath form services connectivity of printer

Infopath Form services help

Hi, I have a Sharepoint List "List C" , which has two look up fields from two lists List A & List B. Currently when a user enters a new item in List C, he picks a value from the two lists (A&B) However, List A has  mutli-value Look up from List B. Now I would like to customize Sharepoint List form for List C (hopefully use Infopath form services), and achieve cascading. i.e When a user Picks a value from List A to enter a new item in List C, I would like to casacade the Multivalue Look up values from List B. Is this possible at all? If so, can anyone out line a procedure? Thanks so much.

InfoPath Form Forms Services and Identity?

We have an InfoPath form running under InfoPath forms services that opens a data connection to a SQL database to invoke a stored procedure using Integrated Security.  It connects as NT AUTHORITY\ANNONYMOUS  LOGIN and is denied access. The following query failed: CPI_RPI_Table (User: LITWARE\smith, Form Name: CPI-RPI-Index-Published, IP: , Request: https://www.litware.com/_layouts/Postback.FormServer.aspx, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:CPI-RPI-Index-Published:-myXSD-2010-09-14T19-44-07, Type: DataAdapterException, Exception Message: The form cannot connect to the data source. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.) When we run it in the InfoPath client, it connects with the users credentials. Can we have the form default to another identity, that of the SharePoint Service acount? Thanks, Nikos

publish infopath form to sharepoint services 3.0 as content type

can an infopath form be published as content type to a sharepoint services 3.0 form library?

i have created 2 form libraries. one to store the tamplate an the other to store the form itself and where you can open a new form.

but whenever i click new to open a new form i get this error message:

the element "comment" is used but not declared in the DTD/schema.

does any one know what this error could be?

URL of current form (InfoPath Forms Services)

I need to programmatically determine the URL of the current form, preferably without adding new dlls to the form template and increasing the trust level.

The XmlLocation query string parameter looks perfect for this, but when I try to retrieve it using

String strSaveLocation = String.Empty;
e.InputParameters.TryGetValue("XmlLocation", out strSaveLocation)

it is empty.

In fact, outputting all the InputParameters shows that for my existing (i.e. already submitted and saved to a library) form, the XmlLocation parameter is not present (even though I see it in the querystring). Instead, there's SaveLocation (even though it's not in the querystring). The value of SaveLocation isn't dynamic - it points to the root folder even when my form is in a subfodler. I want a value that will work even if the form gets moved to a different subfolder.

Infopath Form Services 2007 pass URL from one XSN to another without code

Is it possible to pass the current URL value in an opened Infopath Form to another Infopath form withouth using code? Basically I am trying to pass variables from one XSN to another & the requirements are such that I cannot combine the forms & I am unable to use C#.

Just wish I could get a handle on the Site Referrer value out of the box in Infopath without code. Javascript might be ok if I can embed it in the XSN file and then somehow call it from the XSN file on submit. Is that even possible? Or can this be done without code at all?

Convert Web Based InfoPath Form via Form Services to a PDF

Does anyone have a good idea on how to convert a web based InfoPath form into a PDF?

I've been looking into the MOSS Document Conversions, which could prove quite interesting. OOB, It allows to convert from InfoPath Form to Web Page (Web Publishing Page). Does a converter like "InfoPath Form to PDF" exist? Or perhaps just a "InfoPath to plain PDF" exist?

I've also been looking into the http://www.websupergoo.com/abcpdf-1.htm - ABCPDF component. It's quite clever, as it's able to take a URL as a parameter and return the web page as a searchable PDF (not just an bitmap image). However it fails converting any pages coming out of SharePoint / Form Services (even though it actually supports JavaScript).

Hit me back on any suggestions and ideas you have on this subject.

Kind regards.

Building InfoPath forms against Sharepoint 2010 Data Connection Library and Form Services...

Hi Sharepoint Experrts,

I'm trying to develop InfoPath 2010 forms that use External Lists that have been created in Sharepoint Server 2010.  I have problems when testing the forms because access is denied to the external lists.

When I try deploying the forms to the sharepoint site, I cannot upload the form template because it says I have to be a member of the local administrators group.  However, I'm running the administrator account used to install and setup sharepoint on the Windows 7 development machine I'm using.

I also tried loading the InfoPath Data Connections to a data connection library on my Sharepoint site... I can see the files when I login to the site but when I try creating a New form from a Data Connection File, I get an error message "This location does not contain any data connection files with the appropriate settings".  What ARE the appropriate settings?

I'm just really confused about this because I cannot seem to be able to build forms that use data connection files loaded onto a Sharepoint site or central server....

I appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks, KBW

MOSS 2007/InfoPath Form Services Error

We are using MOSS 2007 with InfoPath Form Services and receive this error in our event log when trying to submit a form.  We increased the Maximum size of form session state to 16384 and continue to get this error message on large forms.  We are not allowing attachments.  We are running MOSS 2007 version

Getting Started with Windows SharePoint Services

Of all of the capabilities of SharePoint, I thought I would start with the most basic installation - as a corporate intranet. It is likely that we will need to discuss some of the elements of SharePoint as we go along, so this also gives us the opportunity to review these elements for future reference.

Before going into too much detail, I would like to point out that you can try the core SharePoint framework (known as Windows SharePoint Services or WSS) for free. On Microsoft's Web site you can download a trial version of Virtual PC 2004 (VPC). Using VPC, you can install the Windows 2003 Evaluation Kit and the WSS add-on. This combination will give you 45 days to evaluate the setup.

Using Infopath form fieldnames in a workflow fails

I designed a form in Infopath and I published it on a SP2007 server to use in a workflow in a library. That goes fine. In the workflow I send an email message. I can use the fields from my Infopath form in the message that I create.
If the workfow is starts, Shrepoints sends me the message. But it does not use the fields from my InfoPtah form in the message in stead I see questionmarks.

Why doesn't it show the fields?

I alse saw (maybe this makes it clear) that when I let it dipslay the URL in the message, it show: http://1.portal.lucasonderwijs, but the actual site is whithout the "1" and it should also start with https://

Has anyone seen this before?

Thank you,

InfoPath Workflow Task Form "Loading" event handler only being called after App Pool recycled.

I have a Workflow that is using an InfoPath task form.  In the "FormEvents_Loading" method event handler I have some code that needs to run each time the form is opened.   I recycle the App Pool and open the form the code runs perfectly, but if I close and try to re-open the form the code is not run at all.  I can then recycle the App Pool again and on the next load the code executes just fine.   The code that is supposed to be run is a very simple statement to set a field value, so I don't think it is interfering.

Does anyone know what this might be?

Problems moving an InfoPath form from a DEV system to QA environment

We developed an InfoPath form using a local DEV environment.  The site collection under which the form was developed was http://server1/.

We are now attempting to deploy this form to a TEST environment that uses a slightly different structure for the collection, namely http://server2/sites/sitecol1.

In both cases the site that contains the form is /fin (so we were using http://server1/fin in DEV and want to use http://server2/sites/sitecol1/fin in TEST).

The form contains VBA code and so requires admin-based deployment via Central Administration, so to deploy to TEST we:

1. Publish the form against the TEST server using InfoPath Designer

2. Upload the form using Central Administration > Application Managment > Manage Form Templates

3. After upload, we activate the form for the site collection http://server2/sites/sitecol1/

4. The form is then associated with a Form Library

When we try to create an instance of the form within this library we get the following error when we click on New to create the form instance:

The following location is not accessible, because it is in a differ

Infopath cannot load this form. Either the signature is corrupted, or the certificatie used to sign

I have a whole bunch of forms contains errors like whenever you try to open it up.

Infopath cannot load this form.  Either the signature is corrupted, or the certificatie used to sign this form is expired or revoked.

The forms were orginally created with digital signature with it.  But we were in the middle of transition from one company to another company.  The digital signature was no longer valid.  Actually, the certificate should have been expired by now.  I removed all the signatures for all of the forms.  So they can continue using the forms to fill in the information.  The problem right now, is trying to open the old forms with digital signature on it.   Not only the company has changed.  We also moved sharepoint from the old server to the new server.

Any idea to resolve th

Insert image into Infopath form and save to SharePoint as PDF file

I have an InfoPath web-enabled form in MOSS 2007, that is integrated with a K2 blackpoint process for an approval workflow.

Once the form (a Purchase Order request form) has been approved in the K2 workflow process, I switch the form view to a "print-friendly" view for the requestor to view from the browser.  However, now I need to go one step further with this scenario:

1) I need to somehow insert/embed an image with the scanned-in signature of the approver (likely stored in a SP doc library) at the signature line section of my form.  Also, what are the security requirements for storing such images, but not granting all users access to these (e.g. only services accounts that need to access this for embedding into the form, etc.)?

2) Then I need to convert this final "print-friendly" view of the form (with the signature image) to a PDF document so that I can store it in SharePoint (and email it to the requestor using K2's email event capabilities).

Can anyone help me with a solution to both of these requirement, or point me to some resources for this (even 3rd party components are open-game).
