What are the Steps Installing Infopath Form Service on WSS 3.0 or do I need to upgrade to MOSS?

I  have configured Extranet Https Portal for our configuration. It includes some custom web-parts features in the site. My WSS 3.0 -Cenrtal Admin version is 12.0.0.6421 I have MOSS 2007 - Central Version 12.0.0.6219 Now I have designed a Infoapth form and want to publish to a library in the site.We can publish the form to a library but At client side Infopath 2007 sholud be installed in order to submit the form.It is not Browser Enabled. ( You cannot enable InfoPath Forms Services in WSS, because it is not present in WSS. Before you can enable InfoPath Forms Services, you have to install Forms Server or MOSS Enterprise.  It is not Browser enabled.  ) Infopath form services is a component of MOSS not WSS Is there any other way instead of intalling Moss 2007 can I only Install Infoapth Form services on it. Can I upgrade the WSS 3.0 to MOSS 2007 and get the Infoapth form services to the existing site without any loss of data.   I have read that while upgrading wss to moss the central admin version  should be same then only you can upgrade is this true?? what steps I need to consider ?? Guide me Thanks in Advance Harish

What are the benefits of using ASP.NET Session State in a Web Service

I have a question regarding session state usage in a  Web Service method. I thought about this situation as I came across an article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480509.aspx Situation is that A. There are web service methods which are being exposed. One web method to store value in a session state and another to get value from session state. B. There is another asp.net website which calls the above web methods.        B                    ----------------------------------->       A (Another ASP.NET Website)                 (WebService hosted in an ASP.NET website)   Questions: Does webmethod can store data in a session variable in Webservice application's IIS (in Proc)? I tried this (refer below code snippets) but I was not able to store and get data thru webmethods into/from state. Why?? What is the use of storing it in the state of the Webservice's website IIS (in proc). Will there be any session objects create due to any web service calls from clients? What are the benefits of saving a value in WebService's session, not in the calling website's session. A WebService's webmethod can able to use session state, does that mean that a session will b

Import from web service into MOSS user profiles

Greetings.

We have a problem which is kinda explained in this article:
http://sharepointmagazine.net/technical/administration/everything-you-need-to-know-about-bdc-part-6-of-8

We have company portal MOSS 2007 based, and a HR database (not sql server based) which has all employee data. Right now this data is manually typed into Active directory when new employee is hired, then it gets imported into MOSS (automatical import).

We would like, for example, to import birth date, which has no field for in AD, directly from HR, and we also would like to import other fields from HR database. I can write custom web services in the HR base to give out this data.

I tried to read the article above but i understood nothing. Author tells to write some xml but i dont understand where do i put that xml. And it seems that he is importing from SQL server database but in my case it will be an xml output of a web service!

There is also an article by the author about writing custom code  here

WCF session client service reference "State" is not updated when the server side has closed

I am using vb.net (Visual Studio 2008 with framework 3.5). I have a server that exposes several services requiring sessions. I am using wsHttpBinding for all. One of my requirements is to allow non-dot net third parties to access these services. When a client connects to a service and then some time later the server goes away, the state of the connection is still reporting "open".

Currently I have implemented a "ping" function on the server. My client calls this function every 5 to 10 seconds and if the server does shutdown, I get alerted with an exception error. This works, but I was wondering if there is a way where I don't have to call my ping function?

I don't want to use a dual connection binding and I was hoping to use the connection state variable? But, I don't know how to get it to update by itself. The client user application could just wait until it goes to invoke a service method, but I was wondering if there was another way.

Thanks in advance!!

Sharepoint infopath forms problem / state service

Hi,

I am uploading an infopath form to sharepoint.  Infopath reports that the form uploaded successfully, however when I click the link to open the form in the browser, I get a message:

The form cannot be rendered. This may be due to a misconfiguration of the Microsoft SharePoint Server State Service. For more information, contact your server administrator.

I've google about and it appears that setting up the state service and associating it with the application solves the problem.  I've followed the instructions, but the problem still persists!  Do I need to stop/start something else to get it to work?  The service application pages report the service is running and associated with the applications.

Thanks for any help - it's driving me nuts

Is a multiple administrative and service accounts a MUST for MOSS 2007/2010?

Want to set up a MOSS 2007 server farm and was reading up on how to do it. One Msft article insist that I need multiple accounts. My sys admin tells me that I can use one account for everything. This account is a domain account and is a member of the domain admin group, it has dbcreator, public, secadmin, serveradmin, sysadmin roles on the db server.

Any thought on the topic?

Thanks,

EJM

User Profile Service Synchronization Service Stuck in "Stopping" State

Have a customer who's UPS Synchronization service is stuck in a "Stopping State"

The UPS service Application has been deleted.  A Stop-SPServiceInstance command has been run and the Get_SPServiceInstance command shows the service is "unprovisioning"

Any ideas on what can be done next to get the service in a stopped state?

"Service Unavailable" after installing MOSS 2007

I have just installed MOSS 2007 on a machine with 64-bit Win 2K3. It installs fine but after installation navigating to the Central Administration site yields a "Service Unavailable" message.

I tried searching for reasons for this, but the event viewer has no significant logs, and the relevant services (World Wide Wed Publishing Service, Windows SharePoint Services Administration, and Windows SharePoint Services Timer are all started.

I had previously installed and run MOSS 2007 successfully on this machine, but had to uninstall and reinstall for an unconnected reason. After reinstalling, I am now getting the "Service Unavailable" error.

Can someone give me an idea what to look into to debug this issue? Thanks in advance.

MOSS 2007 Shared service provider failed (SSP) in "Search settings"

I click on "Search settings" in SSP then the following error: "The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress. ".

My SSP work fine last time, but for now it fails in "Search settings". I checked very carefully.

Office Sharepoint Server Service (OSSS) is started, "Index Server Default File Location" in OSSS is D:\MOSS_index.

"Path for index file location" of SSP is D:\MOSS_index with full right permission is ok and shared. But i checked folder D:\MOSS_index and folder   D:\MOSS_index is empty, guid folder in D:\MOSS_index was lost.  I checked "Search Administration" in SSP and found that "Items in index" is 0 and "Crawl status" is error, "Default content access account" is error.
