VS2010 Professional .NET 4.0 Remote Debugging ASP Website Project

Trying to remote debug ASP website from VS2010 Pro to Windows Server 2003 machine.  Specifically, trying to debug a Web Service, but breakpoint says, "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document."  This happens for all compiled code though.  I have read this is due to missing PDB files and the work around is to manually copy them, as noted here.  Problem is, I cannot find any PDB files for my project, except referenced libraries, which I can remote debug.

  • web.config has <compilation debug="true">
  • Debugger is attached to wewp.exe process on remote server
  • Installed VS2010 remote debugger from DVD (as I can remote debug referenced libraries)

This is beyond frustrating.  I migrated my code from VS2008 .Net3.5 to VS2010 .Net4.0 to take advantage of the inherent multithreading framework.  Debugging works when using local host and was stable until deployment to test server.

Thanks in advance,

Controllers AccountController IFormsAuthentication MVC 2 error vs2010

I finally got around to trying vs2010 and MVC 2 ... I'm glad I did not put them on a production computer.

My first compile (I have not had a chance to investigate because I just did this and I am too tired).

All I did was create a MVC 2 solution with MSTEST Unit Testing selected too.

I compiled it and get four unexpected errors (because I have heard ASP.NET MVC 2 "alpha" and vs2010 Beta 2 are supposed to be somewhat robust):

In both HomeController and AccountController:

"The type or namespace name "Controllers" does not exist ins the namespace "mvczzzzz001" occurs twice, once for HomeController.cs and once for AccountController.cs.

AccountControllerTest.cs has two errors:  can not find "AccountController" namespace and can not find "IFormsAuthentication" namespace.

With ASP.NET MVC v1.0 there are errors when one uses xUnit.net (version at time of ASP.NET MVC v1.0 RTM) as the test framework but not errors with MSTEST (I prefer xUnit.net to MSTEST).

I am just so surprised to find such errors in vs2010 + MVC 2 ....

is this happening to anyone else?????????????????

Thank you ~~ regards, Gerry (Lowry)

WPF+ VS2010: Design mode error "The URI prefix is not recognized"?

our application uses VS2008 and WPF. To apply the styles in the design mode, we have used the "BlendMergedDictionary" class (see the following link) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/995101/how-do-i-get-wysiwyg-design-in-blend-vs-without-merged-resourcedictionary-in-ever It works very well in VS2008 IDE. Now we plan to move our application to VS2010. In VS2010 Design mode (click on ~.xaml design), we get error message:  "The URI prefix is not recognized."    at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri, Boolean userUriBase)    at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri)    at MS.Internal.WpfWebRequestHelper.CreateRequest(Uri uri)    at System.Windows.ResourceDictionary.set_Source(Uri value) the styles does not apply at the design time. It works fine in runtime. The following are the code: public class BlendMergedDictionary : ResourceDictionary { /// <summary> /// This class the purpose is allow we reference the "themes" and "styles" in resource dictionaries in separated assemblies /// by using StaticResource. The big problem using StaticResource is that it will complaints at design time can not find the resources /// So we use this class in xaml file, if it is design time, it will load the resource dictionaries in. /// If it is not in design time, it will use the reso

2008 R2 Tuning Advisor reports "Error: Exception encountered(DTAEngine)"

I am encountering an error when I try to use the SQL 2008 R2 Database Engine Tuning Advisor. I create a very simple workload (either by right-clicking a query in SSMS or by loading a file), and click Start Analysis.  In the "Consuming Workload" step DTA aborts, and in the message column displays "Error: Exception Encountered(DTAEngine)". When I click on the error message, I get a dialog box with a title of DTAEngine, and a message "Error: Exception encountered". This is a clean test environment (SQL 2008 R2 Data Center Edition 64-bit, on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, in a VM) against a local database. Any ideas about what the problem is or how to resolve it? VS2010 Reportviewer - subreport - web server

Hi all,I have ASP.NET web application(vs 2010). I'm trying to use subreport with reportviewer. The report is working with my machine, it returns both the main and sub report. But when I deplyed to web server, the main report display, but not the subreport and no error indicate. I did something like this with VS2005 and deployed to web server without any problems. Here is my coding:Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load      Dim ReportViewer1 As New ReportViewer        Dim rptDataSourceMain As New ReportDataSource("dsSRC", GetDataSet("p_SRC_completed_main").Tables(0))        With ReportViewer1            .ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Local            .AsyncRendering = False            .LocalReport.ReportPath = "content\SRC.rdlc"            .LocalReport.DataSources.Clear()            .LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rptDataSourceMain)        End With        ' HANDLE the sub-report        AddHandler ReportViewer1.LocalReport.SubreportProcessing, AddressOf SetSubDataSource        ReportViewer1.LocalReport.Refresh

Converted reports don't work anymore in VS2010

Hi, I have an web application which in converted from vs2008 to vs2010. This app. has one simple reports, which is also converted. Now I have a few problems. The converted report doesn't render anymore. Somehow the dataset I used is not visible to the report anymore. So I decided to delete this datasource and create a new one, using the new interface in VS 2010. The annoying with this is that the new dataset, which is created when I follow the wizard, in the root of the application. As soon as I move this dataset to a folder (in my case the DataSet-folder), the reports doesn't see the fields anymore. So I copied the dataset back to the root, to solve this problem. However, when I render the report, i got an error message saying "A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'name-of-the-dataset'"I tried to search the inet, but I cannot find any possible solution.Does anyone of you know how to solve this issue? Or provide me with some links showing good examples.Sorry, but I was able to find the datasource problem myself. What I still would like to know if it is possible to change the location of the DataSet. I don't like the dataset to be in the root of my application.TIA

Using ReportViewer for multiple reports by way of radio buttons

Hi all, Thanks for taking the time to read over my scenario.  I am using one ReportViewer with already established SQL Stored Procedures connected to three report files (*.rdlc).  There are three radio buttons which are to be associated with each report that needs to be displayed in the ReportViewer.  Here is an example if a radio button is selected:ReportViewer1.Reset() Dim rds As Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportDataSource rds = New Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportDataSource ReportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear() If RadioButtonList1.SelectedIndex = 0 Then rds.DataSourceId = ObjectDataSource1.ID rds.Name = "spEx1" rds.Value = ObjectDataSource1 ReportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rds) ReportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportPath = "Ex1Report.rdlc" ... The ReportViewer works for the first radio button selection but then for the other selection I get the following error: A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'spEx1' I'm not sure exactly what is going on or where it's still tied to the first data source.  Any help would be great!  Thank you.

ReportViewer not working in vs2010 framework4

I cannot get my reports to work when combined with a master page. I have a webpage with a reportviewer that has always worked in VS2008 framework3.5.  However, When I rebuild this for vs2010 it looks like this: <%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/TopMenu.master" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="TestControl2.aspx.vb" Inherits="TestControl2" %> <%@ Register assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" namespace="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms" tagprefix="rsweb" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">     <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">     </asp:ScriptManager>         <rsweb:ReportViewer ID="ReportViewer1" runat="server" CssClass="CornwallReports"             Height="475px" ProcessingMode="Remote" Width="900px">             <ServerReport ReportPath="/Cornwall/Reports/FindSales"      &

Help - Serious ReportViewer Problem upon upgrade to VS2010

I upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010 and none of my reports work! First, I had to replace all the existing ReportViewer controls with new ones.  Then, when the page finally runs, it is stuck in a loop: I see the "Loading..." word and icon while the ReportViewer is loading, then a quick flash, and the page loads again! What's going on?  What am I missing that should obviously be changed to make these ReportViewers work?  These reports were designed in VS2005/2008, and have been in production for several years. Please help - I have a screaming client... (I know, we all do...)
