1 aspnetdb for multiple domains

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Background: My GoDaddy Hoste account currently hostes the website for the entire league, and multiple team websites (with hundreds more to come with growth).  Each team website is built from a template, has a unique URL and is hosted in a directory dedicated to that domain. aspnetdb: Each team's administrator logs into the team website to make changes.  I learned to make use of the Login controls and Microsoft's aspnetdb and was inspired to have one, single aspnetdb database to serve all team websites.  It works just fine, or so I thought.  The problem is that the administrator credentials work for all websites - so the adminstrator for team A can have lots of fun with team B's website. The Question: How do I reconfigure the aspnetdb database to allow for the following: Master Adminstrator (me) that can log into all websites Team Adminstrator that can only log into his/her own team website - not the others. Please help!  Thanks.

Multiple domains in single asp.net mvc application

I want to use my asp.net mvc application with multiple domains (maybe of hundreds),

so I have created custom Route class that matches requests including domain.

Each domain could has different routes, so the number of routes in RouteTable can be huge

(eg 500 domains, each 20 routes = 10000 routes in RouteTable).

I am considering how it will be efficient?

I have an idea to replace RouteTable.Routes (of type RouteCollection)

with custom one (of type Dictionary<string, RouteCollection>).

But how I can override default route matching mechanism with my custom mechanism which will be two step:

1) retrieve RouteCollection from dictionary based on domain name

2) retrieve specyfic Route object (standard route matching mechanism)

How can I do this?

Maybe someone has better idea for solving this problem?

Thanks in advance

ASP.NET Windows Authetication under multiple domains

Hi, I hope I will get a solution for my problem here. My question is how users from ohter AD domains can access a web site using windows authentication (web site level) and Automatic logon only in Intranet zone (IE level) turned on?

I just repost my issue here.

I am struggling to set up a web site which sits in multiple domains.

I have two AD domains - Main and Secondary.

My site is configured as below.

<authentication mode="Windows"/>
  <identity impersonate="false"/>
  <roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider"/>
   <allow users="*"/>
   <deny users="?"/>

<location path="Default.aspx">
    <allow roles="Secondary\All Staff,Main\Site-Editor"/>
    <deny users="?"/>
    <deny users="*"/>

Can I use MSMQ across multiple domains?

We had a scenario recently where a high volume of concurrent requests had to be handled. Instead of overloading the server, we thought of using a queued model. With WCF we went for MSMQ binding. My question is can we use MSMQ if we have our server in a different domain?

SSRS 2005: ReportServer: Listen on Multiple Domains and ReportBuilder 1.0

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 - and joined my workstations to our production domain.

I have 2 SSRS 2005 environments: one for test and one for prod.

The prod SSRS instance is joined to the same domain as my workstation (ie. production.domain)

However, my SSRs 2005 test instance is joined to a test domain (i.e. test.domain)

i have my SSRS ReportServer configured to use "Integrated Authentication"  In Production, this works great.

In test environment, when I launch reportbuilder, ReportBuilder automatically detects my workstation domain (production.domain) so when it loads and tries to connect to TEST envrionemtn, it tells me I have no access.

The only way to make it work seems to go to my Test Environment server and add my production.domain\USERID to the Administrators Group.  However, i can't do this for every ReporBuilder 1.0 user.

Can ReportBuilder 1.0 or ReportServer SSRS 2005 be configured to listen and authenticate against two domains? my production and test ones?

SP2010 People Picker & Multiple Forests/Domains

Guys, I'm pulling my hair out here and need some help.

I'm trying to add users, using the people picker, from a domain external to SP. I've read all the articles on what to do, how to do it, the correct syntax of the STSAMD command etc etc and I'm still not getting a confirmation that the user exists in the external domain.

I'm at the point now where I'm following this article:

And have been running wireshark traces all morning. I can confirm from these traces that the WFE is sucessfully querying the external domain and even finding the user I'm looking for (sucessfull LDAP packets can be seen in my trace as per the article) however I'm still not getting the 'magic' underline that confirms that SP has found the user.

Can anyone help please?

Single WCF Service in multiple domains

I am hosting a WCF Service using IIS, I have configure the IIS to map multiple domains to a single website (services1.mysite.com, services2.mysite.com, ...) I kwnow that If I configure my WCF service using a baseAddressPrefixFilters I can filter the domains to accept only one of them and stop receiving the "
This collection already contains an address with scheme http" error.... the problem is that I need to accept the request for al domains... I have come with a solution that consists in creating a Virtual Directory for each domain and to create as many copies of the service as domains I have...

Is there any better solution?

PS. I have also tried a custom ServiceHostFactory but it didn't work either.

Hope you can h

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Multiple Instances of User Control

I have a user control that I place on a page severl times.  When I make a selection on a ddl in one one control the SelectedIndexChanged event fires for all the control on the page for that ddl.  So I get duplication of an insert that I do.  Is there a way to make sure these events are isolated so this doesn't happen.
