Can you render cahnges in the curent and send a Response?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I am generating Word docs from a gridview.  The Word doc gets sent to the client using a Resposne object.  However, I would also like to highlight the row in question and update a file generation log display (another gridview).   All the data fucntions on the server side fire fine, but any visual updates to the current page never hit the client.  The Response object seems to take over the entire response.   Is there any way to accomplish both: execute the Response and update the current page?

WCF - data send/response

I'm a junior programmer, and also new to WCF. I have built working "stubs" for a WCF client and a WCF service. Now I want my WCF client to send some data to my WCF service, and then get a computed data result back from the WCF service and show it in a web page.

What's an easy way to do this type of send/response using WCF?

Much thanks

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.

Response.BinaryWrite help needed

Hi all

Im new to .NET and stuck now, so i hope anyone can help my with my problem.

I have a MS SQL database where i have stored some documents as Binary data. I cant figure out how to retrieve them and show/download them in my browser.

I found some guides online and have try to put something together.

private void Write()
 int id = 0;
 string strID = Request.QueryString["id"];
 int.TryParse(strID, out id);

 var db = new ModelDataContext();
 var doc = db.DocumentDatas.Where(x => x.ID == id).FirstOrDefault();

 byte[] byteArray = File.ReadAllBytes(doc);

How do i fill the byteArray with the data?

Thanks in advance :)

Response.Redirect slow

I'm in the middle of migrating servers and on the new server Response.Redirect is extremely slow. It takes around 20 seconds for the browser to get the redirect. This is something that was quick on the existing server. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 application, both servers are running IIS6.

Additionally, if I "manually" do the redirect, it's fast. For example:

Existing way:

takes around 20 seconds on the new server

New way:

Response.Status = "302 Moved Temporarily";
Response.AddHeader("Location", url);

is fast on the new server.

Any ideas why Response.Redirect would be so slow on the new server?

animate effect work but the render items are messed up.

Hi all,

     I have a very unique problem, humm i think. I am using a jquery effect that animate bounce effect, i have a line in my javascript pageLoad function $("#UserBrowserInfoDIV").show('bounce'); - the effects run smoothly but what it does is mess up the bolded text in the div. I have try the items inside the div without bolding and it works fine and no render problem but when bolded the text that are bolded is quite messed up, and barely readable.

Please let me know is there anything else i can do i really would like use this effect.

P.S all the effect have the same render problem, and i am using ie8 under compatibility mode.

Send object from one page to another

I want to create object in 1.aspx, and then send it to 2.aspx. This methods are bad, because:

1)Send object with url, like this:

This is not confidential.

Session["field1"] = "12345"; // set
Object foo = Session["field1"]; // get

This is bad too, because in 2.aspx this fields send to textboxes, and if user go to 2.aspx without 1.aspx, he'll see old data.

How to send an email with information in query string

First I will say I googled (Binged to make Bill happy) for this but could not find anything, perhaps I am not stating what I need correctly;

I have a website that a customer creates orders (for a printing company) and after the order, I would like to email the customer a link to view the status of their order;

I need to send the CustomerID in the link so on the returning page if a CustomerID is detected in the querystring, I "auto login" the client and open the "Dashboard" for the order page for that customer.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to send the link and how to parse the querystring to get the values from the link;

Thank you if you can point me in the right direction.
