Please Help Installing SQL Management Studio (not Express) w/ local SQL Server Express

I have recently formatted my hard drive and over the past few days I've been reloading my software.  I have installed on my machine SQL Server Express 2005 SP3.  I prefer to have SQL Express running on my development machine because that is what my customers primarily use.  I also have a full MSDN license, and I would need to install SQL Management Studio 2005.  However, when I download the SQL Server 2005 Developer ISO from MSDN, and run the setup file I get an error message that states: Installation of Microsoft SQL Server Native Client failed because a higher version already exists on the machine.  To proceed, uninstall the higher version and then run Microsoft SQL Server Native Client Setup. I would assume the problem is that the copy of SQL Server - Dev Edition that is available through my MSDN subscription is using an earlier version of SQL Server 2005 (most likely the version prior to SP1.)  I would just unistall SQL Server Express 2005 SP3 and reinstall it with out any service pack updates.  The problem is that I also see within my Add or Remove Programs list  four SQL Server 2008 R2 entries, that I believe were installed when I installed Visual Studio Pro 2010 (they are, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Data-Tier Application Framework, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Data-Tier Application Project, Microsoft SQL Server 20

Error Attaching .mdf in SQL Server Management Studio Express

I originally had a database setup using SQL Server 2005 Express that was being accessed by a Point-of-Sale client. I would connect to the server using SQL Server Management Studio and everything worked fine. I was out of the office and someone using my machine uninstalled Management Studio. I reinstalled and tried to attach the .mdf file to the database. However I keep receiving this error: TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express ------------------------------ Attach database failed for Server 'FRONTDESK-PC\SQLEXPRESS'.  (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.Smo) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.2047.00&EvtSrc=Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExceptionTemplates.FailedOperationExceptionText&EvtID=Attach+database+Server&LinkId=20476 ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. Error Installing Sql Management Studio 2008 on 64 Bit Windows 7

I am getting the following message when I try to install SQL Management Studio on a 64 bit Windows 7 Premium Dell Laptop.

The message is: Sqlserver 2008 Setup requires Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 SP1 to be installed.

I have downloaded the Service pack and attempted to install as Adminstrator  (Dotnetfx35setup.exe).   It comes up and asks if I want to run it, but nothing ever loads.     I don't know if a registry setting is conflicting with the installation or what.

This computer came with Vista Home Premium 64bit and we installed the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (in case this has something to do with it.)   I have 2008 SQL Express running without problem along with Visual Studio 2008.

Any advice or suggestions to try would be appreciated.

Having problems installing/setting up SQL Server 2008 Express/R2 for ASP.NET user management on deve

I'm a bit new to installing and configuring, well, just about anything regarding databases, so please bear with me. I'm currently building a couple of ASP.NET MVC 2 sites.  I'm following along with the MVCMusicStore tutorial, and am trying to set up user management using ASP.NET's configuration tool.  The problem is that ASP.NET can't 'see' the database. I have SQL Server 2008 installed on my laptop.  It's the version which is available on the Web Platform Installer (I believe it's Express).  When I try running the aspnet_sqlreg.exe program to set up my user management database, it can't tell that I'm running any version of SQL Server at all.  I get an exception about 'named pipes', and some other things I don't understand at the moment. Obviously, this is all a bit over my head.  Is there an idiot proof guide or tutorial available that describes, step-by-step, how to: 1. Install SQL Server 2008 on a development PC 2. How to configure it to be used by Visual Studio 2010 Professional 3. How to properly upload/modify the db on the production server with what's on the development PC Essentially, all the things that the ASP.NET tutorials gloss over.  Any suggestions, links to documentation, or other nudges in the right direction would be immensely appreciated.

SQL Server 2008 Management Studio - Summary Windows.

I am using SQL Server 2008 (10.0.1600), now came across an issue to display Summary Windows but unfortunately found that F7 (Keyboard shortcut to display summary window) is not working and even Summary windows is not available in View Menu of SQL Server Management Studio. Maybe it’s a minor issue but I failed to find solution. Thanks (in advance) for the help.

Error installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 machine

HI all, I'm installing the Developer edition of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit virtual machine (using VMWare Workstation 6.5).  Yesterday I had tried MS SQL Server 2008 R0 with the same results.  Both give an error about 30% into the installation process: "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'VSLangProj80,Version="",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.1826"' When I click the OK button, the install rolls that last bit back and then continues.  Unfortunatly I didn't take a screenshot of the main install window, just the error window. Any ideas what this error means?  The install yesterday seemed to work, but I'm not through the R2 install yet.  The R0 install also failed to install the documentation for some reason (I left it running during the night) Note that I have VS2010 (original release plus downloaded updates) installed and then just some small stuff like Snagit and Skype on this VM.  I updated Windows 7 completely before I started installing R2 so it is completely up to date as of midnight!
