I am having trouble finding a place to actually purchase the developer edition of Sql Server 2008 R2. I went to CDW and they provide the ability to purchase a developer license but don't provide the actual software. Where can I actually purchase the developer edition without subscribing to MSDN? report viewer error / visual web developer 2008 / sql server 2008 / report viewer add on / win7 x64

hi, i decided to export my local site to iis today, the process wasn't smooth.   anyway. i was able to access my site, the db tables are working as i am able to create new records and retrieve them. my main problem now is with the report object. i've tried the work around found here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2002980.. it helped sort of. i used to have only a big page of error before i did the work around, now i am able to see half of the report (the report interface) but the contents, the field are filled with 404 errors. any idea how i can fix this??

SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition

Post Upgade task, Upgrading SSIS Pacakges to SQL Server 2008.

Hi, I am trying to upgrade sql 2005 packages to sql 2008 after doing in-place upgrade of DE and SSIS. Can I know what packageformat column in msdb.dbo.sysssispackages refer to, as according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc879336.aspx the value should be 2 if the package is in sql 2005 and it should be 3 if it is upgraded. But I am seeing only 0 or 1.   Can I know any other method to figure out version of the ssis packages? I am having issues upgrading SSIS Packages from 2005 to 2008, using SSIS package upgrade wizard.   Thanks for your help. Regards, KRanp.

Upgrading to SharePoint 2010 Foundation on SBS Server 2008

Hi all, I've just tried to install SharePoint Foundation on 2010 on Windows Small Business Server 2008 and whilst the literature I've found suggests that this is supported, I receive the following error: SharePoint 2010 Products cannot be installed in Stand-alone mode on a Domain Controller.  For more information on upgrading, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=975805. What's funny about the KB ID, is that it doesn't exist.  The pre-requisites for SharePoint 2010 Foundation installed OK and the SharePoint installer has detected that it will perform an in-place upgrade.  the STSADM -o preupgradecheck output is below. Any idea's?  It would be really great if we could start using the shared workspace and ribbon features that are inherent with SPF2010. Jason.

Testing setup of SQL Server 2008 R2 developer

The "Windows Package Manager" has the error "Operation failed with 0x80070643" and "Fatal error during installation." I have tried a few basic approaches to the installation problem, including downloading the ISO image to a different computer.  I have burned the ISO image onto four different DVDs using different media and two computers but only succeeded in verifying the burned media is Ok.  I have verified the SHA1 key with the two installation ISO images that were downloaded.  I have tried repairing the installation, but that generated a different kind of error message, "Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file E:\1033_ENU_LP\x64\setup\SSCERuntime_x86-enu.msi".  And then there is the "SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup has stopped working" message indicating "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...". How fatal are the errors being encountered?  Is everything Ok?  How can I test that SQL Server 2008 R2 is fully functional?  T.69.72.

Error while trying to register DLLs for Microsoft Jet on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit

Hello! I'm having issues with importing Excel spreadsheets into Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit server.  After browsing the web, it appears that the problem is with the DLL's used by Microsoft Jet.  I've thus attempted to re-register these DLL's.  However, I am receiving the following results. c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjetoledb40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjet40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjint40.dllThe module "msjint40.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjter40.dllThe module "msjter40.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjtes40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\mswstr10.dllThe module "mswstr10.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found I've set the application pool for this site to use 32bit.  Please note that due to my role on the team, other options such as using ACE are not available to me, unless I can prove that I've exhausted all other options. Thoughts? Thanks,Mike

Can't enable filestream on SQL Server 2008 Express 64bit under Win 7(64 bit WOW)

I have a newbie question.  I am running Win7(64 bit WOW). I installed SQL Server 2008 Express R2 (64 bit), but when I go to enable filestream, it reports that my edition of SQL Server does not support filestream.  I thought that the 64 bit edition would.  It says to install SQL Server 2008 64 bit.  Am I correct that that is not a free download?  Do I have any other options?

Upgrading SQL Sever 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2 on a SBS 2008 Server

Upgraded to SQL Server 2008 Express R2 64bit and now all my VS2010 db apps won't run

I am running WIN764bit, VS2010 and just "upgraded" from SQL server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 Express R2 64 bit.  When I went back into VS2010 and tried to run and test several database apps that I have developed, I find that I keep getting the error "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instrance".  I have read a lot of threads here but I am not getting anywhere.  I can create a new SQL Server database, but can't find any of my existing .dbo connections and can't open any of the .mdf's from within Server Explorer (VS2010).  Any ideas? BTW the install went fine. And I have User Instance set to True in VS2010.

Cannot uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer from Vista 32 bit SP2

Hi, I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer and I now wish to go back to an earlier configuration (2008) but I cannot uninstall it. I do have Visual Studio 2008 and 2010 installed (with their instance of SQLEXPRESS), is this blocking the total removal of SQL Server 2008 or is their another issue here? The uninstall reports that all worked fine. Thanks for your help, Bex

Tried everything, cannot install SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 Professional

I have a legal, purchased copy of Windows 7 on my X86 computer. I have downloaded through my university a copy of SQL Server 2008 (through MSDNAA). I have tried every single post for four days to no avail to get this installed, and it is crucial for my SQL class (obviously).

Everything I do leads to ".NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installation failed. .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 must be installed."
To my understanding, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed by default in Windows 7. This is confirmed by the lack of installer on Microsoft websites for Windows 7, the ability to install other software such as Google Chrome that requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and the availability of .NET Framework 3.5.1 in the Windows Programs and Features.

I have tried installing SQL Server 2008 SP1, which installed successfully, as recommended by Microsoft and then running the setup program using the /PCUSource=c:\SP1 method to have it recognize the SP1, to no avail.

I made sure that all features of .NET Framework 3.5.1 were enabled in Windows Programs and Features.

Windows 7 is completely up to date.

I have tried installing Visual Studio 2008 (which successfully installed), but SQL Server would not install afterwards.
