How can I reduce the .sql file size?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
The program in our office has program called eSRE. My Database server is called Wamp Server. In Wamp Server there is a MySql 5.0. MySql is my Database. Now, I already encode a lot of records in my database. When my computer encounter an error, I backed up my database and has named of lgusresystem.sql with 3,895KB. Now, after I reprogrammed my computer and reinstalled the said program, I imported such backed up database file (lgusresystem.sql) into a MySql Server but the computer prompt a message like this "No data was received to import. Either no file name was submitted, or the file size exceeded the maximum size permitted by your PHP configuration". Here in MySql Server, I can see here that the maximum file to be imported is only 2,048KiB. So, what am I going to do so that I can restore my latest records in my database? I hope you will give an appropriate immediate action on this matter. Thank you very much.   JEFFREY R. DAWATON from Philippines

Reduce ASP.NET Page size and complexity using JQuery

This is my first post on asp.net blog. ASP.NET Ajax and JQuery are two different ajax framework. In this post I will show, how we can enhance gridview using ASP.NET Ajax and JQuery. I also compare the implementation of these frameworks. In next posts i will explain more about JQuery and ASP.NET Ajax and also tell you "How to combine the power of both framework". My Future post will related to ASP.NET and related frameworks.

Reduce Image Size

How to reduce the image weight using asp.net, without lose of image quality and image pixels. For example i have an image with the size of 4 MB (3024*2045), so how to reduce the image weight ie 4 MB to 1 MB without lose quality in the same pixels ie(3024 * 2045) using asp.net.

Log file size question

I recently setup transaction log backups after we had a log file get near its capacity. I noticed after log files are truncated, they still use up the same amount of disk space. Is it safe to shrink a log file?  If so how do you determine what is an appropriate size to shrink it to? I ask this because some databases, like a sharepoint content database, have log files that are 130 GB in size when their data files are only 5 GB.  I assume that now that I am running hourly log backups they dont need logg files that huge. -Edit - Also most of the logg files are setup with the default settings

check file size before uploading process in c# with asp.net

Hi All,

Thank you for Advance.

currently we are configured execution Timeout="1200" (The default is 110 seconds)  and maxRequestLength="12288"  (The default is 4096 KB)

but some times users upload files above 12MB so we are getting "Maximum request length exceeded" error.

we are checking the file size using client side javascript ActiveXObject object. but ActiveXObject only works in IE not in others like mozilla,crome,...

Jacescript Code are

function GetSize(file)
  var fso=new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
  var f=fso.getFile(file);
  return fso.getFile(file).size;

how can i check the file size before uploading process with support all the browser.

any posiblities for checking file size before server side script/object?

Restore database from file and reduce datafile while restoring

SQL 2005 Standard.

I want to restore a database from a .bak file. This bak file is referred to a database with fixed size datafile but they are bigger than I need for the new database.

Is there a way to reduce datafile size, during restore process ? I ask this because I will have to do this operation programmatically.

How can I shrink the size of LDF file after BACKUP LOG?

Ive just done BACKUP LOG against particular database and found no changes in size for the appropriate LDF file. It is shrunk only after I issue:

But this approach breaks all logs chain. Is there any way to shrink the LDF file for FULL backup model without destroying the whole sequece of log backups?

Does re-indexing job increase log file size?

I have a multi databases SQL instance with a total size of 886GB.

I ran a large delete records and drop tables script in a purging process, Then I ran shrink script on all databases.

The size went down to  517GB, Yet after running the re-indexing job it went up to 635GB.

Does re-indexing job increase log file size? or else what cause this size increase?

SharePoint 2010 Incoming Email cannot process file attachment with zero size.

When sending email with attachments to SharePoint list, if one of the file attached to the email is of size 0, then none of the files will be saved and NO new item will be created in the list.

The SPEmailHandler's ProcessAttachment method should check the length of the "contentStream". If the length is 0, it should return immediately.

As you can see in the ProcessAttachment method none of the arguments are validated before they are used. This an example of poor quality code.

It should do at least

if (contentStream == null || contentStream.Length == 0) return;

if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(fileName) || item == null) return;

Finding client file size before uploading

I need to upload images from client to server as follows:

1. Server is passing the client a file name
2. Client is checking file extensins to ensure it's an image then issues a __dopostback to the server.
3. Server uses the FileUpload control to save the image on the server.

I have that all covered, but, if image is too large, the upload fails with the following error: 'System.Web.HttpException: Maximum request length exceeded.'

Is there a way to check file size on the client (without the use of ActievX which also errors out), before it is passed back to the server?

Sample code will be greatly appreciated.

SSAS error log file size growing

We have a SSAS server 2005 running on a 64 bit server.

This server generates a error log file under D:\MSSQL\MSSQL.2\OLAP\Log\Error_Log.Log

This file is growing enormously. its current size is around 112 GB which is 5 times the size of the cube itself.

Is there any way we can control the size of this file by setting any max size property in the SSAS server.

any help would be highly appreciated.

Multiple tempdb file size

Hello there,

I am little bit confused about multiple tempdb files.

Suppose i want to place tempdb on its own disk of 100 gb, and want to set the size of tempdb to 100 gb. So in near future it probably do not need to autogrow. To impliment multiple tempdb file i.e. 8 (as per MS recommendation), because we have 4 quadra core processor that is total 16 processors. So how to set size for 8 tempdb file.

Pl provide detail with step.

Validation on file upload size

Hey all

I have an application that lets the use upload a pdf, I wanted to put a limit on the size the pdf can be. If the user tried to upload something too big I wanted to display a message to the user. I am trying to use a custom validator where it checks the size of the file and if it is too big it will set the "IsValid" to false. Is this the correct way to go about doing this? Is there a better way? When I test it, everything works in IE 8 and FF, but it does not work in IE 7 and can't figure out why.

Here is what I have so far, this is on my aspx page:

			<td>Upload Board Book PDF:</td>
			<td class="required">*</td>
			<td><asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="PdfFileUpload" /></td>
                <asp:RequiredFieldValidator runat="server" ControlToValidate="PdfFileUpload" ErrorMessage="*PDF is required" Display="Dynamic" ForeColor="Red" ValidationGroup="add" /><br />
                <asp:CustomValidator ID="FileUploadCustomValidator" runat="server" ControlToValidate="PdfFileUpload"
					OnServerValidate="FileUploadCustomValidator_ServerValidate" ErrorMessage="*File must be less then 20mb
