WSS2.0 opening pdf documents an error message appears: The document could not be saved. The file may

Hi All,. In a WSS2.0 document library, a user is trying to open pdf files. However, an error message is displayed: 'The document could not be saved. The file may be read only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder'. No one else has the file open. When the user saves the file using Save As (as it is apparently Read Only) and then saves the file back to the SharePoint site, all previous versions of the file disappear. The user has noted that this has been happening since today, and she had some other network issues that have been resolved. No other users are experiencing this problem.  Not sure if this problem is related to the network problems the user was facing. I've had the user reboot but this has not resolved it. Any ideas?

I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am getting an error message. MS Message Queueing 4.0 HTTP Support - 500 Internal Server Error

Hi all,   I've been trying to set up MSMQ 4.0 with HTTP Support to allow one of our partners to send messages to us. However, whenever I make any call to the msmq page I get an internal server error 500 (See below). My platform is Windows 2008 SE (64-bit) running as a DC (though MSMQ is running in workgroup mode).   Any hints on what might be causing this or how I can investigate further? Are there any log files for the ISAPI extension, or the MQISE.dll, or the MSMQ service that might help me shed light on this problem?   I've seen blogs about an issue with MSMQ 3.0 where the machine name can't be 15 characters long, is this still the case with MSMQ 4.0?   The error details are as below,     Server Error in Application "WWW.MYDOMAIN.COM/MSMQ" Internet Information Services 7.0 HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, so it cannot be displayed. I have a Tx Replication in place. The Publisher db and the subscriber db have different names. Now, we have a view that references two databases. One of them is this replicated db and the other is a db restored on the subscriber server. How can i go about replicating the view without running into errors?

Serve to server Transaction Replication error

I have windows 2003 sp2 servers each hosts SQL Server 2008 SP1 standard edition. I am trying to replicate both servers, using the tutorial available in the online documentation <Tutorial: Replicating Data Between Continuously Connected Servers> which can be found at: ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v10/MS.SQLSVR.v10.en/s10rp_1devconc/html/9c55aa3c-4664-41fc-943f-e817c31aad5e.htm

I have created the users (repl_logreader, repl_distibution, repl_snapshot, and repl_merge and setting their security. Then I have created the distibutor, setting database security as mentioned in the document, and last creating the publication with a snapshot to be run immediately, distributor and publisher are on the same server and the publication will be pushed to the subscriber. Once the publication is created succesfully, I am checking the agents to see the errors. I am always stuck with the following two error messages:

1- snapshot agent error:

How to view merge replication error (sql 2005)

We're using 2005 merge replication and we found that some records deletion cannot synchronize from publisher table to other subscriber table. (This table have very small size(<1000 records). We want to view those replication system tables or any logs for diagnostics this serious problem. Can you suggest any replication system table or logs that can indicate the reasons or hints of records deletion outsync?

Thanks and regards,

Opening SharePoint List Attachments - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

We are getting "HTTP 500 - internal server error" upon opening list attachments. The list attachments are added programmatically to the list item.

This doesn't happen for all the items in the list, but only for few items.

There is no error in the SharePoint logs and the event viewer.

Has anyone encountered this issue/error?

throw exception message giving internal server error on live site

using vb.net/asp.net 2005

when a user enters a bad email I am doing a check on this and throwing an exception message as follows, this works fine on the test site but for some reason the same code on the live site gives a "internal server error" (http code 500).  The code below:

            If isThisEmailValid(strEmailThatTheUserEntered) Then
		'do something

                Throw New Exception("You entered a bad email address.")

            End If

not certain why this is happening, I assume that it's some server or config difference between the test and live sites.  has anyone seen this before?  For a quick fix i'm registering javascript alert and showing the same text so it works but I would like to figure out why the code above is not working.

as always, thanks for your feedback

error message on clicking a specific view

Hi there,

Please find below the description of my problem:

When I click on a view(eg. Doc Type/Sub Doc Type in our case), I am shown the error message "<!-- #RENDER FAILED -->". Basically what we do is a migration of data(mostly documents) from Webdocs to Sharepoint. So each Business Unit that we migrate has variable item count as 750, 2500, 13000 and so on. There is no problem with Business Units(BU) having, say less than 2000 items in Doc library, but for BUs more than this item count we get this error msg.Is there a workaround for this?. Also I've tried to limit the no. of items shown and other options but in vain.

Datasheet view, I get this error message: The lists are access DB lists.

  When I try to edit any of the lists by typing directly in the Datasheet view, I get this error message: The lists are access DB lists.

"An unexpected error has occurred. Changes to your data cannot be saved. For this error, you can retry or discard your changes."

I get this error message when I try to
1. add a new row by typing directly in the Datasheet view,
2. edit an existing row by typing (or selecting from a dropdown menu) directly in the Datasheet view, or
3. delete a row by right clicking on a row and selecting Delete Rows.

The error does not occur when I add new items to a list in the Datasheet view by clicking on one of the dropdown menus at the top of the list (such as New, and selecting New Item; or Actions, and selecting New Row). Using these options works fine for adding new rows, but I see no way now to edit or delete existing rows.

The problem seems to have developed sometime in the past few weeks.
I'm using Internet Explorer 7 with Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.

Opening SharePoint List Attachments - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Hi All,

We are programmatically attaching documents/attachments to the list item through a web-part.

I'm using the below code to accomplish this. (Fileupload control is rendered in the webpart)

Stream inputStream = this.fileUploadCtrl.PostedFile.InputStream;

byte[] buffer = new byte[inputStream.Length];

inputStream.Read(buffer, 0, (int)inputStream.Length);

spListItem.Attachments.Add(this.fileUploadCtrl.PostedFile.FileName, buffer);

The attachments are getting added fine. But in some cases, only the file is attached but not the contents. when we click on the attached file name, we get the following error:

Has anyone encountered this issue? Any help is highly appreciated.
