Reporting Services 2008 - Repeating Headers when Headers are in a rectangle in header cell

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hello,I had the same problem as others where the tablix header will not repeat on multiple pages of the report.  I followed the instructions here http://blogs.msdn.com/robertbruckner/archive/2008/10/13/Repeat-Header-And-Visible-Fixed-Header-Table.aspx and it did not solve the problem.  After trying several scenarios, I found that it was not repeating because I have each header value in a rectangle which spans one column, rather than having each header value in it's own tablix column. For instance, if we have fields CompanyID and CompanyName on the report, the repeating headers work if I have them in separate columns like this:                              Tablix Column 1  |  Tablix Column 2Tablix Header row    Company ID        |  CompanyNameTablix Detail row      [CompanyID]      |  [CompanyName]It DOES NOT work when it is designed like this:                             Tablix Column 1Tablix Header Row   Company ID    Company Name  (tw

Tablix headers not repeating in SSRS 2008

I have created a new report & add a table to it. When I select "Tablix Properties" and check on Columns Headers -> "Repeat Cheader columns on each page" the header columns do not repeat on each page. I also tried "Repeat header rows on each page". "Add page break before" seems to work ok. I am using VS 2008 9.0.30729.1 SP

I also tried deploying but it still does not work on the deployed version.

Interestingly, reports migrated from 2005 & unchanged seem to be ok.

Any ideas? Am I not setting soemthign up properly?

House of Web Services: Mandatory Headers in ASP.NET Web Services

The ASP.NET Web Services infrastructure includes support for programming with SOAP message headers. Unfortunately, the model for handling mandatory headers is flawed in that you need to write additional code so that a Web Service will not execute when a mandatory header is not processed. This column explores a specific problem that arises when you deal with mandatory SOAP handles and presents three solutions.

Excessive Deadlocking Reporting Services 2008 Integrated.

Hi, we have a major issue with deadlocking on our reporting Server TEMPDB (REPORTSERVERTEMPDB). The platform is a Sharepoint Integrated platform allong the following lines 2 WFE Servers (NLB) 2 Sharepoint application servers 2 SQL Reporting Services (NLB) Cluster hosting Sharepoint DB's Cluster hosting Reporting Services DB's and the Data. This error is occuring for both manually running reports via sharepoint and load testing, and is happening on our testing platform as well which is slightly different in configuration. Reported back to the users is "An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database" Running a profile with 1224 set, we are finding deadlocks on the REPORTSERVERTEMPDB on PK_SNAPSHOTDATA. We have tried the following 1. Dropping the PK - The deadlock was then showing an OBJID which we could not identify. 2. Change the database properties to READ-COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT and ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION to ON 3. Re-create and change the PK to ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS OFF None have these have had an impact on the issue This has become apparent since the following actions were taken 1. The setting of caching has been enabled by the developers 2. The Report Server DB's were moved from the Sharepoint Cluster to the Data Cluster. I do have an XDL file from Profiler but it is to

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Select Log Files: SUMMARY GLOBAL RULES LOG: Overall summary:   Final result:                  Passed   Exit code (Decimal):           0   Exit message:                  Passed   Start time:                &n

Windows service can't use Reporting Services on SQL Service 2008 R2

Hello. I have a Windows service that run as Local System account. The service uses the Reporting Services ReportService2005.asmx web service. When I have SQL Server 2008 installed, I have no problems and my service is able to browse and create report. After I have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 I get the error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." when the service tries to use the web service. If I change my service to log on as a user with administrator rights, it is able to use Reposting Services again. What has changes in SQL Server 2008 R2, that doesn't allow the Local System account to use Repoting Services? And is it possible to configure Reporting Services to allow it?   - Per

SSRS 2008 - repeating a non column header column on every page

Hi - I am working on my first SSRS report and I have mostly all of it down except one issue. Per requirements, I need to display a column that is a non header column to repeat on every page while printing and or when I save the generated report in SSRS as a PDF file. I have seen some previous blog from 2007 where RepeatWith property is recommended to be set to the same name of the Tablix in which the column(s) are embeded, tried that but it is not working. Can any one help me on this or guide me how to resolve this? Thanks, Manny

SQL Reporting Services - Page X of XX counts in header

I have searched high and low for how to calculate page numbering in the header where the global values do not apply.   I have a report that generates 300+ invoices and I need the page numbers to reflect page x of xx for that invoice only.  My report page breaks for each customer invoice.  I have found code to get the page number in the header and I have found code to get the total pages in the body.  These two solutions cannot be combined.    Has anyone found a workaround in code behind or some other method?I would appreciate any guidance.   Side note: thank you all for all your postings and solutions.  They have been highly valuable as I am new to SSRS.

Problem with Subreports in Tablix in 2008 SQL Reporting Services

Hi,  I have set up a report to get data from an SQL Table to build a matrix of possible combinations of 2 products, works fine. For each combination a subreport should be called with row and colum value as parameter - also OK. But for most of the first and second column are the same column values handed to the subreport, for all other columns it works Deleting and recreating the matrix does not help   Thanks in advance

WSDL not working for SQL Reporting Services 2008

I have seutp reporting services successfully, but now i want to generate a proxy to be able to interact progromatically with the reporting services 2008 like I did in 2000 and 2005.  I have tried viewing the WSDL from a command like this:   http://localhost/reportserver/reportservice.asmx?WSDL and I get an error like this:   The path of the item 'WSDL' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath) Get Online Help Any thoughts?  I also tried from WSDL.exe, no dice. Thanksl Ben

How to save Windows credentials to a data source in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 using Visual

I am trying to create a shared data source for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 that uses a specific Windows user ID and password to connect to the database. Using the Report Manager web interface, if I create a shared data source and specify "Credentials stored securely in the report server", I can check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. This tells SSRS that the user ID and password I specify are from a Windows user, not a SQL Server user. I want to create the shared data source using Visual Studio though. In Visual Studio I have an option to use stored credentials but there is no equivalent of the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. SSRS always assumes that user and password are for a SQL Server user, not a Windows user, and thus the connection fails. Does anyone know how to tell Visual Studio that the stored credentials are for a Windows user?

Reporting Services 2008 - Anonymous Access

Hello,   In SSRS 2005 I was able to grant anonymous access to my reports by changing the authentication mode for the Reporting Services virtual directory in IIS to Anonymous and then adding the 'account used for anonymous access' to the permissions on the appropriate Reporting Services directories (in report manager).   Now with SSRS 2008 there are no virtual directories in IIS.   I tried to follow the instructions given:   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281310.aspx (Authentication Types in Reporting Services)   Which instructed me to use the custom AuthenticationType, and following the instructions here:   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281383.aspx (How to: Configure Custom or Forms Authentication in Reporting Services)   which just got me an error: The Authentication Extension threw an unexpected exception or returned a value that is not valid: . (rsAuthenticationExtensionError) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors   Any ideas on how to set up anonymous access to SSRS2008?   Thanks for any time and help!   -Tim
