Workflow which is activated when infopath form created but need attached to another costing form als

I have a requirement to create an infopath form which is simple enough to create and is pretty much done.

It however has a secret which they didn't really mention in the doc or their "simple workflow requriemetns" and this is  that it goes some where for costing.

The idea of this is to automate a paper trail so I am thinking that this costing which is to be attached to this document should not simple be an upload onto the form but part of the workflow tasks.

My questions are.

If I have the follow workflow requiremetns.

1. User fill in form and submit

2. workflow then starts

3. (cost part next?) one group of people liase with accountants to ensure funding is posible and attach to form. two option I see here.

opt 1

The costing part is part of the workflow but if I do this I need the field to be read only for everyone except for a couple of groups is it possible in infopath to do this?

Opt 2

The costing is in a different library which the workflow create the new file this has it own workflow with a task to complete it and when completed workflow marks a field as complete before the main workflow will move on to next steps.

I would need to link the two forms together preferably in both directions would be nice what the best way to do this?

Issues accessing saved documents in SharePoint

Hello, I believe there is an issue with a current document link in SharePoint.  When we click on the main Document Folder (labelled - Project Descriptions) we are typically provided access to a large list of subfolders and documents.  For some reason now, when we click on the main Document folder, a dialogue box opens up prompting me with the following language:

Do you want to open or save this file?

  • Name: Allitems.zip
  • Type: Compressed (zipped) Folder, 6.13KB
  • From: sharepoint.ambit-consulting.com

If you click "open", you're redirected to a blank page in SharePoint.  Our documents are no where to be found.  Please help.

WSS2.0 opening pdf documents an error message appears: The document could not be saved. The file may

Hi All,. In a WSS2.0 document library, a user is trying to open pdf files. However, an error message is displayed: 'The document could not be saved. The file may be read only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder'. No one else has the file open. When the user saves the file using Save As (as it is apparently Read Only) and then saves the file back to the SharePoint site, all previous versions of the file disappear. The user has noted that this has been happening since today, and she had some other network issues that have been resolved. No other users are experiencing this problem.  Not sure if this problem is related to the network problems the user was facing. I've had the user reboot but this has not resolved it. Any ideas?

Deploy infopath 2010 form template to MOSS (saved as Infopath2007 format)

I saw this post on another site and this happened to me as well.  I am trying to create a web form with controls, chose WebForms for Infopath2007 and changed the code to C# for Infopath 2007 and tried to deploy the form to the Infopath forms solution in Central Admin and was unable to do so.  any suggestions?

I have an interesting issue while deploying a VSTO enabled form today. For

some odd reason while performing stsadm -o verifyformtemplate -filename

foobar.xsn, it returned a "FatalError : The form cannot be converted because

it was designed for a later version of InfoPath Forms Services.".

Has anyone else tried deploying a InfoPath 2010 form with managed code in a

MOSS environment?? I'd hate to go back to InfoPath 2007, I love the new

ribbon. :D

Error when trying to open recently saved documents with Office

Having a strange issue with one of our customers. They are using a drive letter mapping to a SP Document library (WSS 3.0). For some reason out of the blue now, if they create a new word document, save it up to WSS (via drive mapping) and then try and open it again, it gives a "Could not open" error. Trying to open the file via the web interface gives a "No connectivity with the server. The file http://... can't be opened because the server couldn't be contacted". Strange issue is, we can open the files just fine with Wordpad. So something between Office & Sharepoint appears to be causing the issue. Stranger even still, if we save using word to save an office document to SharePoint via the web interface instead of the drive mapping, it appears to fix the issue. From there on we can save and open files directly to\from the drive letter mapping!

So the issue can be temporarily resolved that way, but it still re-occurs every once in a while, and It would be nice to know what is causing the issue and how/if we can permanently prevent it.

Screenshots of errors when opening the docs from drive mapping and web interface:

Document attached to Infopath; will it work offline?

We have a user that has created an editing template using infopath. Part of the process involves uploading documents to the form template. It is part of an editing process they've created. The question is since the document is attached to the form what happens when SharePoint goes offline? I know you can sync the form to Outlook but if you work offline and then sync it back to SharePoint, will the changes you made to the document be recorded or just to the form itself? I hope I've explained this clearly.

I should mention were using MOSS 3.0 SharePoint 2007 server.

Office Services: Merging Word Documents on the Server Side with SharePoint 2010

Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 include a new set of components called Application Services. These put a rich set of tools in a developer's bag for Office automation. We'll show you how to use Office OpenXML, Word Automation Services and SharePoint to build a simple application that merges separate status reports into a single document.

This article describes how to generate documents that contain data stored in SharePoint lists. The example demonstrates how OpenXML content controls can be defined to capture list data in a Word document and how LINQ to XML can be used to query the lists. The documents are generated from a SharePoint Web Part.
