I'm trying to configure an integration environment that hasn't been used for a few weeks - it's configured in the same way as multiple working development machines. I do a package in visual studio then run our deployment scripts to destroy and recreate the
solution on the server - in the same way that I do on my development machine, it's probably best to assume that these scripts 'work'.
The problem is that the user control i'm testing with (probably not the only user control with this problem, again assume it applies across the whole solution) doesn't update on deployment. When i try to access the page in SP I get an error referencing code
that was in that web part over a week ago!
I eventually found where the GAC web part is located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES\MyRootSiteDefinition.Webparts\MainNews
- If I delete the single .ascx file inside this directory and redeploy my solution the user control doesn't get created again! There's obviously some permissions or deployment setting that i'm missing, can anyone shed any light on this?
Note: looking at the .ascx in that directory it is out of date - but why oh why would this be? Can anyone tell me which deployment step will be sending these items from my workspace to this directory? That's a bit of a gap in my knowledge at the moment
