List lookup to document library not showing folder names

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi all, I've got a Sharepoint List, which has a lookup field to a Document Library on the same site. That document library library is populated with several folders, each with several Word documents within. I want my lookup (in the List) to only display the top level folders in the document library. I managed to do that in my test environment. But in my production environment doesn't list the folder names. I've compared the settings in the two and they look identical. What could be wrong, and how to I fix it so that the folder names appear? I'm using SharePoint 2007. Thanks in advance for the help.

Item/Document permissions affect Library/List permissions

When I change the permissions on a item/document in a library/list the permissions are also changed on the library/list even though I stopped inheritance.  When I change the permissions on the library/list it also changes permissions on items/documents in that list even if inheritance is removed.

MOSS 2007: list column that lookup to multiple documents stored in doc library

Hi All, I'm trying to understand how to customise MOSS to achieve the following: I need to lookup from a list to multiple documents stored in a documetn library. Example: - List item 1 --------> Lookup to Doc 2                   --------> Lookup to Doc 5 - List item 2 --------> Lookup to Doc 3                   --------> Lookup to Doc 5                   --------> Lookup to Doc 8 - List item 3 --------> Lookup to Doc 1 How can I achieve this? is it possible that in the lookup I have a "search" option? Thanks all Vit

Where is the document library setting "Unique file names"?

Live can be so simple if only… ;-).   When using DMS functionality unique file names must be possible. The name is an unimportant attribute when using Meta data. So why can I not choose somewhere in the document library settings something like:   ·         Generate unique filenames Or ·         Do not allow overwrite existing filenames   Maybe in the first service pack?   MS? Please, please, please

Copy Attachment from List to Document Library

Is it possible, to do that. I always get an error : The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings. InfoPath list definition of type Document Library

Is there a way to create a list definition that is a document Library and deploy to SharePoint 2010 that is based on a InfoPath form?  Meaning that it will deploy and if I select the "add new item" link it will automatically open a new InfoPath form that a user can submit?  I have the infopath forms created already but I need a way to create the form library through visual studio so I can promote through our test and production environment and have it automatically and deploy to the different environments and create the proper list structure.

Document Library Open popup no longer showing

Hi, I am seeing some strange behaviour. I have a collaboration site on exactly the same server as the others and which I click on a document in the document library, I get a popup message with two radio buttons asking if I want to open the document as read-only or in edit mode. This is what I want. However on a seperate site with a document library when I click on a document, I instead get a popup message asking if I Save or Open the document with no radio button! Does anyone know why this is happening?

How do you sort the library list under "Document Library" ?

How do you sort the library list under "Document Library" ? I am using SharePoint Service 2007. So far my SharePoint page is still mostly default and haven't gone far yet. The library LIST under Document Library, named "Document" are all not in order. It just keep adding to the last one in list. I am not talking about the folders or files under each library. I am talking about the Library list on the left hand top side below the section called "Documents". I can't find a way to sort it..... HELP

Request for Proposal Template: "Request Document" list not showing correct files

Hi, I've ran in to a challenge with the standard Request for Proposals (RfP) template. Due to the number of proposals we use, the huge number of documents per proposal and a need to keep historic results I have had to add folders into the "request documents" library for each RfP to reduce the number of documents shown in the list when creating an RfP and confusing users.

All works fine, however when I create a new RfP, I see additional files in the "request documents" list instead of just the folder names. It looks like it is also readin gthe contents of each foldr, but not all files are listed. Versioning is turned on for major and minor releases as default.

As I am unable to view the details of the standard new RfP page I am struggling to work out how to fix this.

Any ideas?

Showing the SPBuiltInFieldId.ItemChildCount Field in a Document Library View?

Is it possible to display the number of items contained within a sub-folder within a document library?  When the user opens up the document library, he would like to see next to any sub-folder the number of items contained in that subfolder without having to navigate into it.

In the MSDN documentation there is a built-in field, SPBuiltInFieldId.ItemChildCount,where the number of items is kept.  Can this field be used to accomplish this requirement?  If so, is there any information on using the SharePoint object model on how to expose it?  It is not accessible from the Document Library Settings.

Getting parent folder of a document library within EventReceiver

Hello everbody,

I am trying to create an EventReceiver which gives me the parent folder for currently added documents. For this reason I created an ASPX Page which I display through a "Page Viewer Web Part" on my Sharepoint. Within this Page I can create new folders in my Document Library. This is working fine. My problem is that I want to create an EventReceiver. The event is firing and I can debug it, but my properties object seems to be missing something. I am not able to get the name of the parent folder.

Is this because I am displaying my site through a "Page Viewer Web Part"? But that would be strange because I am able to write into my document list.

public override void ItemAdding(SPItemEventProperties properties)

            using (SPWeb web = properties.OpenWeb())

                string url = properties.BeforeUrl.ToString();

                url = url.Substring(0, url.LastIndexOf("/"));   URL is ""

Sharepoint 2007 delay in files are not showing up in document library

When saving a file from ie. an email attachment into a sharepoint document library the files show up in explorer view of the document library but there is about a 20 minutes delay before they show up in the default view of the document library.  This is quite frustrating as because you can not see it there the users try to save as again.

This seems to work correctly in our test sharepoint environment.  Does anyone have any ideas as where to start looking.
