BDC Picker only displays 200 items and the filter "search" does not filter or search!

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
What’s wrong? It doesn’t work like the people picker of filter by first few entries. The picker just seems to display the first 200 results in the database table but does acknowledge that there is more data! I am using the specific finder method - having created the Application Definition File using BDC MetaMan. Many thanks to anyone that can help. If you need further information to get more of an understanding - please do not hesitate to ask :-)

Filter search over multiple text columns

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a library that stores information on various cases. The case table has several columns that contain descriptive strings on what happened in the case. I would like to create a single filter that returns all cases where the search string is found in any of the columns. I've looked at Dynamic Data Filtering, but as far as I can tell, the "Contains" filter only allows you to connect to each column individually. Has anyone tried this?

How to filter the search result based on a column value?

I do have search scope scoped at a list which contains attachment. I will use this scope to search (full text search) on this list then I need to filter the result based on a column which is in the same list. How do I do that? Thank you.

SharePoint 2010 Search mapped properties and BDC filter descriptors

Are the mapped properties in SharePoint search at all related to the BDC FilterDescriptors? I have a custom datasource crawled using a BDC which is all working fine but I want to make use of the refinements panel to do further filtering in the results set based on fields in that custom datasource. I'm wondering if filter descriptors are the place to start?

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!

filter search results to specific document library

Hi all.  I have a sharepoint 2007 subsite, which is a small part of a large corporate sharepoint 2007 system.  I only have admin rights on my chunk.

I would like to limit a search to a specific document library within my subsite, and further would like the search results to return additional non-standard meta-data from this library.

Is this something that I can do without creating a new search scope?

Full text search not working for pre-existing data on table after installing docx filter. However wor

Hello All,

I have a strange issue. I have pre-existing data in my table with full text index defined along with catalog. I noticed that I did not have the docx filter ,so I installed the filter and performed the steps below. After installing the filter  I added a couple of new records. I noticed that the full text search pulled up the new records matching the criteria but did not return any pre-existing records. Could you please let me know the issue. Please note – currently I am using sql 2008 , but also would like to verify the same in sql 2005 as well.

Also could you please verify the steps below for installation in sql 2008 and sql 2005 and with different architectures (Eg windows 2003/2008, 32bit, 64 bit etc)

This was tested on VM image on 64 bit architecture Windows 200

Filter Parameters/Search Form

I've got a gridview that I need to perform filters on. All works great until I try and add a date range..

Below is the code. Basically I have 5 dropdown lists which all filter as expected giving them the option to use each one or just the ones they need.

The problem is they want to also have the option of filtering by date i.e date range or greater than or less than or equal to etc..

As soon as I add the date parameter it stops the other filters working. I'm guessing because I have a null value in the date field (textbox) if they dont use the option??

Does anyone have a sample on how to filter by dropdown lists and dates keeping in mind they wont use all the filter options?

Thanks for any help.

Filter out documents from search based on metadata value

I currently have a document library that contains over 1,800 records in it. Each document has a metadata column called "Archived" associated with it. This property can either be True or False. Currently, every document in the document library gets indexed by the Search Engine Crawling service. I would like to filter out the documents that have the archived property set to True, so that they don't appear in the search result. Is there a way to create a crawl rule that would be specific to a particular Document Library, and that could filter documents out based on metadata?

My alternative is to create and event handler that would move the document out into another document library that won't get indexed whenever the property gets set to true. However, I would prefer to use a cleaner out-of-the-box way to achieve this. Anybody knows if it is feasible?

My event log is filled with the following information message every second:

The search service stopped the filter daemon because it was consuming too many resources. A new daemon will automatically be started, and no user action is required.

What I'd like to do is somehow affect MOSS search such that when it finds relevant items that come from replies to a discussion, it references the original discussion itself, rather than the reply?

Thanks in advance

Filter items with a date column with parameters start date and end date on a sharepoint list?

If I have alist with a view that has the columns Title, Status and Status Date and the view has some items. How Can I add a filter with two parameters, start date and end date, to only show records with status date equal to or greater than parameter start date and status date is less than or equal to parameter end date? This is a sharepoint online site and I can't create and deploy custom code, can use SPD though. Do I need to use SPD or is this something I can do in the list settings? Thanks in advance.   Edit: I had a look here http://www.endusersharepoint.com/2009/09/29/sharepoint-date-filter-filtering-a-list-by-greater-than-or-equal-to-date/ but I don't have the Date Filter web part.

SharePoint 2010 Search Service Application: "All Content" scope contains 0 items?

I've encountered a nasty bug in our setup. Our Search Service Application manages to crawl all content just fine. However, the scopes don't work. We've got a total of 570 items currently in our crawl database. 350 of these are of class 'People', and appear in the 'People' scope. The remaining 220 items should appear in 'All Content' as part of the intra (sites, documents etc), however the 'All Content' scope reports 0 items. I've tried the following: -Creating custom scopes (still 0 items) -Recreating the Search Service Application twice -Tried different accounts as the content access account. -Ensuring that the content access accounts do have 'full read policy' -Checked the crawl log for successful content (such as sites and documents). However, despite my efforts I still get 0 items for 'All Content'.  Has anyone else encountered this problem, or do you have any recommendation for us? Currently I don't see any other option than to reinstall everything.

User Filter web part: how to show items with no value in it

I want to set up a document library View that shows the current user all items with their Department name in a column, as well as those items that don't yet have a Department name. I thought I could do this with the User Filter web part, but I am struggeling to show the items that don't yet have a department name. The problem I have is this: I created a view called "My department's items". I use the User Filter web part on it to show the user all items that have got the user's department name in a column. However, when a user forgets to fill out the department name after uploading a file, or even when they upload the file but then cancel filling out the compulsory fields, the uploaded file disappears from the "My department's items" view (because the department column is empty). How can I set up a filter to show all files that match the current user's department name as well as those that don't have a department name yet? Thanks.

SharePoint 2010 Search Crawler excluding items

Hi All I'm trying to setup the Search functionality in SharePoint Server 2010, but I'm having trouble getting it working. I have set up a crawler for the site with a user that has Full Read permissions to everything. I also set up a crawl rule for the site including all items in the path with the "Follow links on the URL without crawl itself" option checked. The crawler runs across the entire Site Collection and sub-sites, but I keep seeing warnings that content was excluded and the search can return no results. The error message I keep seeing is "The content for this address was excluded by the crawler because this item was marked with a no-index meta-tag. To index this item, remove the meta-tag and recrawl." I have looked for a no-index meta-tag, and have been unable to find it anywhere. I have also done searching on this issue, and set site settings to Always index all WebParts and to Appear in Search Results. Neither of those settings appear to have helped.   Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, or know of good documentation that could point me in the right direction? Thanks
