SharePoint Data Source for InfoPath Issue

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I've setup an InfoPath form which uses web services to pull an XML data source into the form.  The form works great internally, but when users on the extranet try to use it they get a "Cannot Access Data Source" error.  I have tried connecting to the web service via the extranet and it works just fine, but as a data source in the InfoPath form, extranet users cannot access it.  I've tried using both the intranet and extranet paths to the web service with no luck.  Any ideas?

InfoPath Data Source Issue with SP List

I have a problem with a drop down list in my InfoPath form that gets it's values from a list in SharePoint.  The error is:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: MasterList
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
The SOAP message cannot be parsed.

I read several posts on the subject but none are exactly like this.  The last sentence indicates to me the XML is mal formed and can't be parsed.  Does anyone know the answer to this?

Submitting InfoPath data to a SharePoint 2007 List

Clayton, i sure hope you get this.  I would like to let the form get published to the form library and then workflow can create the new list item with all the required metadata mapped.  if data is updated i would like for the list item data to update as well.  currently i have an infopath form that is web-enabled.  i several views based on a status field as which view to open to.  this form have drop-down fields linked to list already on the sharepoint site.  i have tried using the "Submitting Data from Infopath 2007 to Sharepoint List" and it works as designed but unfortunately i cant customize the fields.  i need a dynamic user friendly form with drop downs etc.  any suggestions?

Connecting a Sharepoint Custom list with an external Data-source

Hi I am planning to connect a Sharepoint Custom list with an external Data-source. External DB will be in Access 2007 format. More Information: I need a solution that we can connect our sharepoint list (one-way) to online db in a way that new  information is directly updated in the sharepoint list, whilst other info changed in sharepoint list  is not synced back to original value. Is there a way to solve this? -saumil

Microsoft Excel and Sharepoint KPI's (External Data Source)

This is my first post i hope i get a clear answer for my question. I recenty have been working on KPI's drawn from Microsoft Excel documents that i created. However, as we know, external data sources in excel don't work with sharepoint. If that was possible it would have saved the company a lot of time and effort My questions are: Is there any way to have external data sources with some advanced modifications, or any other way that would simulate this process? (External data update) Can i directly update my data by tampering the database where the excel file is saved?   I don't know if the files uploaded in sharepoint are stored in a database, so i want some validation around this. (Name of the database, path etc.)   Hope you can shed some light to my questions Thanks in advance Theo

External Lists and Infopath forms issue with Secondary Data Sources

I've followed this tutorial for creating and customising forms for external data (http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2010/03/11/customize-an-external-list-form-in-infopath-2010.aspx).  The only difference being that my seconday data source is not an XML file (I've tried database connection and existing sharepoint lists both internal and external) When running the design checker I get the message "Additional Data connections not supported" and my form won't publish.  Any ideas?

Infopath Form Data submitting to Sharepoint 2010 List

Making a Client intake form that once submitted will send data to  a sharepoint 2010 List called contacts. Short Summary the form will have repeating fields and alot of information to submit. I have looked and read all over but I cannot find an easy step by step guild on how to submit the form data like that. Long Summary on the sharepoint site a button will open a form for adding a new client.  once the form has been filled out and the user hits submit sharepoint will then create a User File, in clients file, and take the data and put it into contacts list. I am trying to make use of Sharepoint as I would with access, meaning the more information I have on a client the easier it will be to mail merge letters, motions, basicly any file prepaired stuff. So once I have css designed forsharepoint to make it look the way I want then the forms should intergrate perfect

Getting error while retrieving data from sql server 2008 to infopath 2007 in sharepoint 2007

Hi, I have created an InfoPath form in InfoPath 2007. In this form I am getting data from SQL Server. To do this I have created data source for SQL Server 2008’s Tables. I have created 4 connections for 4 tables. When I am previewing this form from InfoPath Designer 2007, it is working. But when I am publishing this, it is giving me an error ‘Can not update content type’. If I skip this error then my form published but when I open this form from Share Point 2007. It gives me an error:   There has been an error while processing the form. Click Continue to resume filling out the form. You may want to check your form data for errors. Click Start Over to load a new copy of the form.   An error occurred accessing a data source. An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server. Log ID: 6932 G. Goyal

Binding the sharepoint treeview to the quick launch data source

Is there any way i can bind the sharepoint treeview navigation to the same datasource as the quick launch bar? I'm trying to create a consistent navigation structure within a 4-site deep structure so the quick launch bar is rather clunky to use, but the treeview picks up on document libraries i don't want it to (i only want it to show subsites and pages).

Sharepoint list as Report Data Source

My current environment is Sharepoint 2007 with SSRS 2008 in Sharepoint Integrated Mode. SSRS 2008 uses trusted authentication to communicate to Sharepoint 2007. Sharepoint 2007 is configured to use NTLM authentication (configured with a domain account). My settings within Central Admin are Authentication Type: Windows IIS authentication settings: Integrated windows authentication with NTLM. My question is: Do I need to configure Sharepoint to use kerberos to use Sharepoint Lists as a Report Data Source?

import data from infopath xml forms to SharePoint list

Hi. I have this issue, a customer has an old application that consists of a SharePoint 2003 site and a 'forms library' with forms listing information about physical servers. The infopath (2003) form is pretty straight forward and has a few dropdowns from lists and so on. Now, we need to move this to 2010 and preferably to a list only using oob functionality. I would like to know if anyone has a clue as to how I can get the data from the hundreds of xml files into a list, could be to excel and then to SharePoint, or any means Necessary. I would prefer it if it can be scripted or done using standard tools from Microsoft, no 3rd party custom xml importer...(if it's not really good and free :-) ) ThanksThomas BalkestÃ¥hl - Technical Specialist - SharePoint

Infopath bug in windows 7 to convert datasource to data connection library in sharepoint?

Any ideas about this bug: Windows 7, infopath 2007, did not check in the data connection file when converting a data source? Also it did not set title and kept the file checked out so that you can not even update the items by SharePoint UI. I did everything successfully with Infopath 2007 on a windows xp machine. Is the OS related in this case? Thanks,

SharePoint Designer 2010 External Content Types Data Source Already Exists in Business Data Connecti

I used the Secure Store to create connection in SharePoint 2010 Designer External Content Types Data Source Explorer.  Later I changed some column names in the table.  I deleted the connection from Data Source Explorer and recreated it. I right clicked on the table and selected Create All Operations. When I clicked the Finish button, I got "The system definition with the same name as this data source already exists in the Business Data Connectivity Metadata Store and it refers to a different data source.  Cannot complete operation generation.  Add a connection to this data source with a different name and try again."

I re-created the Secure Store using a different name in SharePoint 2010 Central Administration.  I didn't find the option to choose the connection name in SharePoint 2010 Designer. After I clicked Add Connection, I entered the Database Server and the Database Name, selected Connect with Impersonated Window Identity, entered Secure Store name, and clicked OK. The connection created with the database name as before.

Using Infopath rules and filters off an XML data source

Hi Everyone:

Using InfoPath browser based form, I have an drop down menu connected to another list using an XML data source (I am doing this so I can use the view to control the data in the drop down menu).

When the user selects a value from a drop down, I also want other fields in the form to populate with the corresponding data for that item from the other list. I can't get the filters to work and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I originally had just a regular secondary source for the list and the filters worked just fine but I need to use the XML source so all items will show up in the drop down, not just part of the list. So the XML data source shows odd field names like ows_Project_x0020_Number in the zrow of the XML source. I set up all the filters but when I select an item from my drop down the other fields are only showin the first items from the list and not filtering to my selection.

Hope you can help.

Sharepoint Designer 2010 - Collect Data from User Issue

I am currently running Sharepoint 2010 Foundation and Sharepoint Designer 2010

I am creating a custom workflow where I am asking 1 user for input using collect data from user.  Following this I am asking a different user the same question using another collect data from user.

Since these creates 2 tasks (1 for each user) I wanted to store the information in the same column, but I seem unable to do so.  Each collect data from user seems to create it's own column even if you name both the same (you end up with 2 columns with the same name but different column id's).

Is there a way to point them both to the same column?  Is there a better way to do this?

More the less I am asking the both persons a yes/no question.  in my workflow if they both say yes I send an e-mail but wanted to have only 1 column in the vew to see the results on the tasks.

SharePoint 2010 External Content Type and InfoPath 2010 - Numeric data type fields missing in InfoPa

Connected SQL data table to SP 2010 ECT from SQL table.  The SQL table has several fields that have a type of "numeric(3,0)".  The SP 2010 list shows all fields form SQL.  When we open up InfoPath Designer and reference the SP List data (from SQL) all of our numer fields are missing from the available fields list.

I amd going to try another data type but that hardly feels like a solution.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know!
