.net 4 framework : Security Exception

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,I have a ASP.NET targeted framework 4.0 application written in VB.In the code I'm executing this line:Today = (Month(now).tostring + "/" + Day(now).tostring)In development this goes great. In production I receive a Security Exception.----Security Exception  Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Insufficient security permissions to set the system date.----In the 'old' frameworks I could play around with the rights. However this is kicked out in .net framework 4.Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Geneva Framework: Building A Custom Security Token Service

A Security Token Service, or STS, acts as a security gateway to authenticate callers and issue security tokens carrying claims that describe the caller. See how you can build a custom STS with the "Geneva" Framework.

Are You in the Know?: Find Out What's New with Code Access Security in the .NET Framework 2.0

Unlike role-based security measures, code access security is not based on user identity. Instead, it is based on the identity of the code that is running, including information such as where the code came from. Here Mike Downen discusses the role of code access security (CAS) in .NET and outlines some key new features and changes in CAS for the .NET Framework 2.0.

As I write this column, version 2. 0 of the Microsoft® . NET Framework is at Beta 1. When I got my bits, I hacked together a little program to dump all of the public members of all public types in the entire Framework and ran it on version 1.

Security: Protect Private Data with the Cryptography Namespaces of the .NET Framework

The .NET Framework includes a set of cryptographic services that extend the services provided by Windows through the Crypto API. In this article, the author explores the System.Security.Cryptography namespace and the programming model used to apply cryptographic transformations. He discusses reasons why cryptography is easier in .NET than it was before, including the easy programmatic acccess developers have to the cryptography APIs and the difference between symmetric and asymmetric algorithms. Along the way, a brief discussion of the most widely used algorithms, including RSA, DSA, Rijndael, SHA, and other hash algorithms, is provided.

GoDaddy - Security Exception

Hi guys!GoDaddy is playing with my emotions! I got the Security exception error when connecting to MySQL database. I followed the steps suggested by the GoDaddy support on this forum at http://forums.asp.net/t/999456.aspx?PageIndex=1 but I still have the exception!i downloaded the latest version of the data connector, added the [assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers] to the AssemblyInfo.cs, built the solution again, put the generated dll in a Bin folder on my website, ran it and nothing happend Have I done something wrong?I'm pissed because they posted the solution here and when I sent them an email asking for support they said "The error you are encountering is due to the Trust Level that is set on shared server hosting. Your program is attempting to use Full Trust settings, however, shared hosting is set at Medium. In order to have Full Trust enabled you will need to move up to a Virtual Dedicated Server."That's redicolous!!!! Do this DLL thing work for real? This is my code, in case you have some doubts of what I am doing. <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="DKName" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="data2" HeaderText=&

CLR Profiler for the .NET Framework 2.0 : A bug (with possible fix!) - It throws exception - null ob

CLR Profiler for the .NET Framework 2.0   I tied to profile a service on my machine. But when I try to see the heap data (during reading of the log file) it throws exception that the object reference is not set (null object).   I debugged the CLR profiler and found that in class ReadNewLog, there is method "ReadFile" internal void ReadFile(long startFileOffset, long endFileOffset, ReadLogResult readLogResult, int requestedIndex) ...     if (matched > 0 && c != -1)     {         /* use some other stack trace as a reference */         int otherStackTraceId = ReadInt();         otherStackTraceId = stacktraceTable.MapTypeSizeStacktraceId(otherStackTraceId);         int[] stacktrace = stacktraceTable.IndexToStacktrace(otherStackTraceId);         if (matched > stacktrace.Length - hadTypeId)             matched = stacktrace.Length - hadTypeId;         for(int i = 0; i < matched; i++)         {             int funcId = stacktrace[i + hadTypeId];             Debug.Assert
