Unable to publish two tables for replication. They have a key with a red x.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I am trying to figure out why I can't access the DB that I've replicated.  Two tables have a key with a red x that makes it so I can't publish them for replication.  In addition, how do I replicate all the user roles and permissions with the database that is being replicated?  I am using SQL Server 2000.   More info:  I can't access the replicated DB through the client software.  It is accessible through SQL Management Console.  I had to manually export all users and roles and then run the query to get them into the replicated database.  Is there a more thorough way to replicate a database?  How can I make an exact copy on a different server so all information is intact?

merge replication system tables fragmentation issue

I have Merge replication going on in my environment. The problem is that system tables like MSmerge_content, MS merge _tombstone and MSmerge_genhistory are getting fragmented. We are rebuilding indexes time to time daily. But we want some good fix. Just send some good idea guys?

transactional replication and sp_MSupd tables

Hi thre, My target server keeps running sp_MSupd sp for different values in profiler and synch status shows "delivering replication commands" I keep waiting but this never ends. and ultimately we run a snapshot and it can't be applied. So recreate the whole replication again. It runs fine for a while but again, the sp_MSupd sp starts running on the target server and the replication goes down again. I don't know how to fix this. any advices?   Regards

I tried Verbose history too but I didn't get complete error.

avoid accidental delete on Subscriber tables - transactional replication

Hello pundits..

I am looking to see if we have any way to set on the subcsriber to avoid accidental deletes on subscriber tables to avoid the 20598 error(where the publisher is trying to replicate a record not existing(rather deleted in accident) at the subscriber end). This is for transactional replication

Unable to publish customized DIP's for content types.

The last time I made a custom document information panel (in InfoPath) for one of my MOSS 2007 content types I didn't have any problems. Now, I'm getting errors while trying to publish the form. Here's what I'm doing:

  1. Open MOSS root site, go to Site Settings, Site Content Types.
  2. Open the content type for my document (which uses a Word 2007 template).
  3. Click on Document Information Panel settings.
  4. Click on Create a new custom template, click on finish when prompted.
  5. Click on File, Publish.
  6. Save the file, (click save).
  7. The "as a document information panel..." is selected, click next, click Publish.
  8. "Updating site content type..." window is displayed for about 40 seconds.
  9. The following error is returned: The form template cannot be published because the Web service for updating the SharePoint list and site content type settings was modified. Contact your system administrator.
  10. Click on OK and cancel. If I check the _cts folder for my content type I can see that a zero byte InfoPath form has been created there.

SQL Server 2005 Transactional Replication Fails to Publish Stored Procedure Containing an Index Crea

I've experienced a bizarre problem with a SQL Server 2005 Transactional Publication. The issue is this: If the publication contains an article that is a stored procedure that contains a create index statement, then there is an error thrown when attempting to replicate the schema of the stored procedure to a subscriber.

The behavior is very odd, because even if the create index statement is commented out, it still gives the exception, and it will only work if it is removed altogether.

Here is the exact error that's being returned:

Command attempted: GRANT EXECUTE ON [dbo].[usp_Test] TO [CompanyDatabase_access]

(Transaction sequence number: 0x00000170000008B9000500000000, Command ID: 5)

Error messages: Cannot find the object 'usp_Test', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 15151) Get help: http://help/15151 Cannot find the object 'usp_Test', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 15151) Get help: http://help/15151

The error is accurate, because when I check on the subscriber, the stored procedure wasn't created as expected... but that was the purpose of the publication...

Transactional Replication ISSUE - 487 tables need to be replicated

Hi All!

I have configured transactional replication on 7 databases from an sql server 2005 to another sql server 2005.

One of them has 487 tables and when I check "Replication Monitor" it shows that everything ok, but database above , that shows the message "Performance Critical".

My question is : The tables have been replicated or not ? How can I check this ? It´s not possible check table per table. Anyone suggests any other way to check if tables and their data have been replicated.

Thanks in advance ,

Locking published tables while generating the snapshot infinite (Transactional replication)

I set up a transactional replication, publisher 2005 SP2 to a subscriber SQL 2008r2. The database is about 90 GB. When I want to create a Snapshot, the snapshot agent is running to 96% and then give a error. I have set up some logging, here is the tail of it:

On rebuilding indexes of MSmerge_Contents and other replication system tables

In my previous question leads me to the index rebuild of MSmerge_Contents system table. However, I am still not sure what the explicit and correct way to rebuild index is.

Refering to examples in BOL, the syntax should be something like the following:

ALTER INDEX ALL ON msmerge_contents

After checking system.indexes, I found that the fill_factor of 4 indexes of msmerge_contents are all 0. Does this mean I do not need to specify the value of FILLFACTOR? How about another 2 parameters, i.e. SORT_IN_TEMPDB and STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE?

Do I need to specify ot

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.

Temporary Tables - MS SQL Server

Usage of temporary tables in MS SQL Server is more developer friendly and they are widely used in development. Local temporary tables are visible only in current session while global temporary tables are visible across all sessions.

Temporary tables in SQL Server vs. table variables

When writing T-SQL code, you often need a table in which to store data temporarily when it comes time to execute that code. You have four table options: normal tables, local temporary tables, global temporary tables and table variables. I'll discuss the differences between using temporary tables in SQL Server versus table variables.

Textbox in ItemTemplate inside Gridview, unable to get the value

Hi. I have a itemtemplate inside a gridview.

Why isn't my Views/Home/Home.Master file published when I publish my website?

Hi All,

I spent the better part of today hunting down an elusive error.  I was getting a message saying that it couldn't find the Index view for the Home controller, and it gave a list of locations it searched, e.g., ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx.  This was really confusing as the file definitely existing and was at ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx, the first place in the list of locations it searched for the view!

What I eventually discovered was that there was a file that did not get published when I used Visual Studio's "Publish" feature (this is on the "Build" menu).  That file was Views/Home/Home.master, and (as you can probably guess) is the master file used by Views/Home/Index.aspx.

Once I copied that file into place manually, it started working.  But I am left wondering--why???  Why does this file not get published?  It's a part of my project, I can see it in the solution explorer, and it's obviously a critical file that's necessary for the MVC app to run.  It has the same permissions as every other file in my project.  So why wouldn't it get copied?  And how can I fix it so it does get copied?

Thanks for any suggestions on this!

Using a trigger or anything else to populate two tables

Hi! I'm creating an application that's supposed to first add a record to table1, and then get the ID from that record to use when adding a record to table2, to be able to associate these two records with eachother.

The user gets to type in some values that goes to table1, and some values that goes to table2, but before the insert statement for table2 is executed i need the ID from the recently added record in table1. Some dude told me to use a trigger for the autopopulate purpose, but does that really work when i also need to save some values that's user input, and when those values doesn't get saved in table1?

Are there any other way to do this or can i send values to a trigger? I'm new to triggers and stored procedures, i don't have any particular knowledge of this, any help is appreciated!
