Posted By:      Posted Date: September 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
After uninstalling all .net versions, I tried to reinstall them. All available versions were installed including .net 4.0 Client Profile but .net 4.0 Extended did not install. Suggestions? The error log was VERY long so here's the summary: Final Result: Installation failed with error code: (0x80070643), "Fatal error during installation.

Extended MySite: Profile picture uploading to the wrong zone.

I'm experiencing a problem where uploading a profile picture, in a MySite, uploads it to the wrong zone.

What I've done is created one web application and configured SSP to use that same one. As a result, the MySite host location is in that same web application:

Default Zone:
http://my.domain.com  <-- default SharePoint site.
http://my.domain.com/personal <-- MySite host

I then extended that web application to enable FBA & anonymous access:

Internet Zone:
http://extended.domain.com <-- extended default SharePoint site.

Now I"m able to navigate to a user's MySite using the extended URL (http://extended.domain.com/personal)...but when I upload a new profile picture in my MySite... it prompts me for new credentials because it's trying to upload to the Default zone (http://my.domain.com).

I found the following thread that talks about this...but there wasn't any resolution:

What is the best practices when configuring a MySite in an extended web application? How can I fix the situation I'm encountering above?

P.S. I tried to change the MySite Host location (via SSP in the Central Administration)

Why does .NET Framework 4 client profile slow down boot time network creation?

I've been running a Windows XP sp3 KVM virtual machine for a long time now, and some recent update made the initial network startup go from a few seconds at boot time to around 90 seconds. Using Add/Remove program to uninstall recent updates points the finger at .NET Framework 4 client profile. With it installed, if I right click on network and ask for properties right after booting, there is a 90 second delay before the network dialog with the list of network interfaces finally appears. In addition, the network drive I have automounted at login is not accessible for the same 90 seconds. As an experiment, I tried going into the device manager and deleting the network interface, and if I reboot after that it takes 90 seconds for the new hardware wizard to appear. All these 90 second delays vanish if I remove this .NET update. The network comes up as soon as the system boots.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile

I changed from Vista to Windows 7.  Every time I start my computer it says I need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0  When I do that, the installation says it's already in my computer. I have looked and what's installed is Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile.  What should I do?  Also, my bluetooth has stopped working. Is this why?

Why saving to SharePoint library fails from Office 2007 client?

I have test environment where I have successfully able to create Excel document with the client and publish it to the SharePoint 2010 sites. In the test environment I was using my personal Windows 7 workstations for Office 2007. When I repeat process in the customer environment, it fails. I'm using front-end Windows Server 2008 machine for Office 2007. I'm using admin account and machine is certaily in the domain. 1. Open Excel 2007 and modify it 2. Publish 3. Document Publish Server 4. Input http://intra I get error: This location cannot open with program Why the error? What do I miss? Is the Windows Server 2008 the problem?Kenny_I

.NET Framework 4 installs, but .NET4 Applications won't run and verification fails

I have the same problem described in following thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/netfxsetup/thread/d8601382-83a4-4039-a71b-3b68dcdc6e26 I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate I installed the .NET Framework 4 Client Profile and even tried installing the FULL/Extended edition the install appears to go in just fine, no errors or anything. Once I try to run a program it fails to work, I tried to verify my .NET4 installation using this tool... http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx It ALWAYS fails the verification no matter how many times I uninstall/clean up and reinstall... Project builds for .NET 4.0 but not 4.0 Client Profile

Hi, I'm converting some class library projects from .NET 2.0 to 4.0. I've gone through the wizard to get the solution and projects into Visual Studio 2010 and it builds. When I open the project properties for any of my class library projects and set the target framework to .NET 4.0 it still builds, but if I change it to .NET 4.0 Client profile, which is what I want, it doesn't. What is confusing me is that the errors are that a referenced namespace in one of my own class libraries doesn't exist. E.G. I have a class library named IGLT.SMO.Data. Its default namespace is IGLT.SMONET.Data with several classes in that namespace. A second class library named Common references IGLT.SMO.Data and uses it throughout. When I change Common to target .NET 4.0 Client Profile I get errors like "The type or namespace 'SMONET' does not exist in the namespace 'IGLT' (are you missing an assembly reference?)".   I'm not missing a reference or it wouldn't build for any framework. What am I missing?

.NET Framework 4 installs, but .NET4 Applications won't run and verification fails

I seem to have the same problem as these good people, http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/netfxsetup/thread/58ff584d-e849-49e7-8c17-563296602017 http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/netfxsetup/thread/d8601382-83a4-4039-a71b-3b68dcdc6e26 .NET 4 installs (reporting no overt errors).. but will fail verification with this message. .NET 4 applications fail to run. SQL Server Native Client install fails during prerequisites

Hi I'm trying to install sharepoint 2010 on a new windows 2k8r2 which is a member server on our domain. The server is fully updated. The SQL Server native client installation fails. This is the entry in the error log;   2010-09-15 08:57:26 - Beginning download of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client 2010-09-15 08:57:26 - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=160387 2010-09-15 08:57:28 - Size of download of "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client" in bytes is "8073728" 2010-09-15 08:57:28 - Download of "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client" completed successfully 2010-09-15 08:57:28 - Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client 2010-09-15 08:57:28 - "C:\Windows\system32\msiexec.exe" /i "C:\Users\myadmin\AppData\Local\Temp\SQLCF11.tmp.msi" /quiet /norestart 2010-09-15 08:57:28 - Install process returned (0X660=1632) 2010-09-15 08:57:28 - [In HRESULT format] (0X80070660=-2147023264)   If I run the SQL native client installer manually I get the following error; The installer has encountered an unexpected error. The error code is 2755. Server returned unexpected error 1632 attempting to install package.   Any ideas why this is happening? I've had a quick google and can't see anything for SQL Native Client for that error code. Thanks   Olly

Cannot deploy .net framework 4.0. client profile via wsus

I would like to deploy .NET framework 4.0. client profile via wsus.

I failed to import .NET framework 4.0. via Windows Update.

Does anybody try to deploy it via WSUS? Is it possible?

HTTP, .NET 4 and the Client Profile

We're about to release our new WPF application that's based on the .NET 4 framework. I'm trying to see if we can use the client profile rather than the full framework since installing the latter has turned out to take a loooong time (>15-20 minutes post-download) on our users' computers.

With that said, I've determined that our WPF application has two dependencies that don't exist in the client profile:

  • JavaScriptSerializer
  • HttpUtility (specifically the UrlEncode() method)
Are there any alternatives to these classes in the client profile that I could use instead?

Can I use managed client OM to retrieve user profile?

I don't think managed client object model can be used to get user profile. I don't see anything similar to Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfile namespace...

Microsoft .net framwork 4.0. client profile

I have just encountered problem with Microsoft .NET framework 4.0. client profile for Windows XP.

The feature pack is approved and the right one Microsoft .NET framework file is in right one directory.

But in WSUS 3.0. SP1 interface is in column install 6% and approved  (1/67).

I can send printscreens.

Have anyone solve this problem , could it be wsus bug?

bcp queryout using $PARTITION fails with Native Client error: Invalid Object $PARTITION

Using bcp queryout, in-line queries of the following form fail with the invalid object error on the $PARTITION keyword:

bcp "SELECT S.* FROM Support_Prod.ADSK.Session S INNER JOIN ##Session #S ON (S.SessionId = #S.SessionId AND S.LastInquiryId = #S.LastInquiryId AND $PARTITION.AdskInqPF(S.LastInquiryId) = $PARTITION.AdskInqPF(#S.LastInquiryId))" queryout I:\Data2\AdskBCPout\ADSK.Session.dat -fI:\Data2\AdskBCPout\ADSK.Session.format.xml -q -t\t -r\n -SINTDEVSQL1\DEV1 -T

Here, AdskInqPF is a well-formed partition function used to partition Support_Prod.ADSK.Session.  ##Session is a table of semi-joins derived from the former, but is not partitioned.  LastInquiryID is the partitioning key on the Session entity.

The resulting error is:

SQLState = S0002, NativeError = 208
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name '$partition.AdskInqPF'.
SQLState = S0002, NativeError = 208
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name '$partition.AdskInqPF'.
SQLState = 37000, NativeError = 8180
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared.

The platform is SQL Server 2008 SP1 and the bcp is

can the .NET 4 client profile run 3.5 client profile?

What if a person has only .NET 4 client profile installed on a old OS which does not has any other version of .NET installed

Can that computer run my application, mostly designed for .NET 4 client profile but some assemblies had to be .NET 3.5 client profile

Thanks in advance

Edit: I have found something about backwards compatibility http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff602939.aspx
I need to be sure this works for client profile installations, too

Starting User Profile Synchronization Service Fails

Hi All,

While performing a database attach upgrade from SharePoint Server 2007 to 2010 with this article http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/cc263299(en-us).aspx as my guide, I'm stuck at the 'Start the User Profile Synchronisation Service' section. When I use Central Administration to start the service, after a few minutes being on the status 'Starting' it reverts back to 'Stopped'.

When reviewing the logs I find the following error message:

UserProfileApplication.SynchronizeMIIS: Failed to configure ILM, will attempt during next rerun. Exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Specified collection 'StringSchemaCollection' cannot be dropped because it is used by object '<DOMAIN>\<FARM ACCOUNT>.GetObjectCurrent'.

The account used is already added to the local administrators group.

One solution I did find is in the following thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010setup/thread/58a404c0-af55-476c-84ad-8720de0a3292. The problem I have with this solution is that I should manually modify the user profile database, setting the correct default schem

Setting up user profile service.

Following the excellent harbar guide as usual which normally results in a working service.

The service gets stuck on starting when provisioning (go to services and server and start as the farm account)
