Can't reset DefaultTemplates.ascx to original state after some changes

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hello everyone. I've made some changes in DefaultTemplates.ascx and save the file. Nothing serious, just added some plain text to RichTextField template to test it. This changes are immediately applied to my site so i can see them. But when i decided to rollback changes and return template to it original state, it didn't have any effect. Control is still in customized state. Iisreset doesn't help at all. Maybe anyone know what it can be? It really makes me crazy. Please, tell me how i can reset my page and this template to its original state. I am using SP 2007. Thanks. P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

Get original model in an ascx template

I'm writing a custom editor template.
I display my template like that:
 <%=Html.EditorFor(model=>model.MyProperty, "MyTemplate") %>

Customize DefaultTemplates.ascx in sharepoint

I have wiki site. When I click on History link of any document, it takes me to versiondiff.aspx page.
On this page at the left hand side there is HyperLink control for each version number which contains the UI version number followed by the Modified timestamp – for example, “3.0 9/20/2008 1:02 AM”. Each HyperLink control that is built as child control points to the VersionDiff.aspx page located at the _layouts folder.

Instead of showing modified timestamp in hyperlink, I'ld like to display my own custom properties values (custom date and time entered by user).

Please advice, how to achieve this. I am trapped in this problem since last week.

Page refreshes back to original state

Hello everyone,

First off, I'd like to apologise if this is not the correct section to be posting in. I am currently having a problem with my page that I am working on. The problem is essentially this:

- Page is loaded

- User can click a button (BUTTONS PURPOSE: once this button is clicked it reveals a hidden table that displays some data)

- When this button is clicked the table is revealed (for a split second) then the page is refreshed and the table is then hidden again.

I want the table to remain visible, but am unsure of how to go about doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if I have not been specific enough or if I need to provide some more information.

Truly Understanding View State

This article provides a detailed understanding of the ViewState.

Design Patterns - Using the State Pattern in C#

What is the State Pattern?

The State Pattern is a behavioral pattern that can be used to alter the behavior of an object at run time. As the state of an object changes, the functionality of the object can change drastically. This change of behavior is hidden from the Client and the Client interfaces with a wrapper object known as the Context. The State Pattern is a dynamic version of the Strategy Pattern.

Code works on aspx but not ascx

Not sure which category to put this question in, so I will put it in here.

Just to give you an idea of the layout of my solution, I have the main project, along with 2 class libraries, BLL and DAL.  (Business Logic Layer and Data Access Layer)

The BLL refers to the DAL and the main project refers to the BLL.

I had a test website and the code worked fine, but the same code will not work on the real project. The only difference is that in the test project, the code was on an aspx code behind, whereas in the real project, it is an ascx code behind (Web User Control )

The code is:

Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString
        Dim recordEntry As New UserRecord(connectionString)
        recordEntry.UserName = "TestName"
        recordEntry.BMI = bMI
        recordEntry.BMR = bMR
        recordEntry.FTM = fTM
        recordEntry.TDEE = tDEE
        recordEntry.TodayDate = dateForToday

Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString

view state vs request parameters

If  the view state is the data entered into the form fields then they are supposed to be available in the request parameters or request body. Then why would we need view state for?

SQL Server Session state problem.

Hi to all,

I have some things that I want to know. I am right now using a free asp.net webhosting ("somee.com"). The problem is that when I am visiting a page, there's a tendency that values stored in my session variables are lost. Therefore, it causes an error when the requested page is loaded.

1. I am thinking of using sessionState mode="SqlServer". Will it solve my problem?

Actualy Im working on it but Im having problems when connecting to the sql database.

2.  Is that a problem in the webhost?

3. Do free webhosting sites provide allow session state in the sql server?. Because ive tried it locally into my computer and error say's i should intall the ASP.NET Session State SQL Server version 2.0 or above.

View State Encryption

Hi All,

Why is it that I see the same hash value generated when I use different algorithms for viewstate encryption. I have added below lines to the web.config file

<pages viewstateEncryptionMode="Always"

browser gives jibberish when State manager (sql) is turned on

Hi all, we're testing our web app with a state manager so that we can do distributed rollouts. We're not getting any errors, but we are getting jibberish returned for every page request.

(it won't even let me paste it in here)

HOw do I get it to serve the pages normally?

Custom Server Control Property not maintaining state

I have created a server control consisting of a TextArea and a div under it.  My goal is to create my own asp:TextArea type control.  the div is for a Character count of the text area and seems to work ok but i added a CharacterCountVisible property to the control that is always returning true.  See Proptery definition below

<Bindable(False), Category("Appearance"), DefaultValue("True"), Localizable(True)> Property CharacterCountVisible() As Boolean
        Return _CountBoxVisible
    End Get
    Set(ByVal value As Boolean)
        _CountBoxVisible = value
    End Set
End Property

Note the _CountBoxVisible variable is define inside the class as :

Dim _CountBoxVisible as Boolean = True

What I am trying to do is give the user/coder the option to show/utilize the char count feature.  Can make it disappear with textarea1.CharacterCountVisible = False but setting it to true will not make it display.

What am i missing

Count words in the ascx file

I have 163 .resx files. I want to count the words in these files, because my want to translate the sentences (my task is the localisation).

Now I'm opening each file in Ms Visual Studio and I count words manually. How can I count words in all files? And the second question: can I use a program what grab strings from .resx into an editor where I can translate them and save bacn into .resx files? Or must open the files one by one and edit the text fields manually?

Thanks for helping, unfortunately I'm not a programmer.
