I installed the August Cumulative Update, but the version number didn't update on my system. The install processed successfully (at least no errors showed up). How do I confirm the installation?
I noticed that cu should apply to affected system that with specific issues with fixes. cu4 contains fix that allow to use "Locked pages in memory". Is that safe to apply cu just for that?
Please note: running as a Domain Admin, FTData folders all exist, SIDs are correct for the relavnt user groups, Full Control permission given to Administartors group for WMI yet stull:

I installed Service Pack 1 for SQL 2008 on one of my servers. This server has multiple instances. In this case, it is the instance "SHAREPOINT2010" that is giving me difficulties.
For Sharepoint 2010, we need to install cumulative update 5. This update fails due to the fact I do not have the correct SQL version. It is expecting version 10.0.2531 (SP1), but it says I have the 10.0.1600 (RTM). When I check in my management studio and
via the @@version, I do see the confirmation I have version 10.0.2531. (also see attached screenshot).
Does anyone know why the cumulative update fails to see the correct server version ? If I try to install it on another SQL 2008 SP1, it works fine..;
Thank you !
Cumulative Update 3 completely destroyed my SQL 2008 R2 installation. We were hoping it resolved some of the issue we are seeing with R2 but unfortunately now SQL will not
start. Is there any way to completely remove cumulative update 3 from the server? We are running SQL 2008 R2 on Server 2008 r2 x64.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
Lately i applied CUmulative update 1 for SQL 2005 SP3 in one of our production sharepoint database clusters.Today some users reported that they cannot open the macro's enabled excel spreadsheets in sharepoint. spreadsheets that do not have
macros or other file formats do not have any problem.I wanted to check if this issue could be due to SQL CU1 patching.
I installed a new Virtual Machine running Server 2008 and SQL 2008 on a 2 node Cluster. This was to replace an existing Virtual running the same (which we had issues with so decided to replace). Once I installed SQL on the Primary Node I then
installed SQL Service Pack 1 which installed fine. The next step was to install Cumulative Update 5 (we are using this version as its the only one we have fully tested with all our Databases). However it would not install this Cumulative Update,
the error I got was:
“The patch installer has failed to update the shared features”.
I referenced KB 1216468 but nothing worked that was suggested within this article.
Can anyone please offer some advice on what the problem may be?
I currently need to install Cumulative update package 2 for SQL Server 2008 service pack 1.
It is located at :
When i click on
View and request hotfix downloads it has the following error :
Unfortunately it says "The system is currently unavailable. Please try back later"
Where can i fin this package ?
I need to install this to finish off the installation of Sharepoint 2010.
I've been asked to install SQL 2008 CU 10 for SP1 and was wondering if the sql server is still available during the install of the cumulative update. Is a restart necessary after installing a cumulative update? I don't have a test machine and
I need to apply it to a production server.
The KB2276474 returns that the expected product version is not installed on the server.
The KB2276472 installs without problems.

What might i be missing?
Edit: The installer returns the message in danish, and i have no language pack installed, and my OS is in english. Could this be what is wrong?
I have a server running SQL 2008 SP2. I am having trouble with the ExecuteSQLCmd erroring out when I try to run a batch file to execute a series of .SQL files. This has been reported as a problem in SP1 and was fixed in cumulative update 10 for
SP1. How can I get this fix applied on a SP2 server (SP2 only included cumulative update 8 from sp1).
I need to install the Feb 2010 CU for SharePoint 2007 (x86). This is KB978395. When following the link to request the hotfix, I am presented with the error message "The system is currently unavailable. Please try back later, or contact support..." I have
tried accessing for several days. Have checked firewall settings, turned off anti-virus. Tried using Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, IE8, Firefox, Chrome - all with the same result. Although this particular update is what I need (to get a development VM to
the same build number as a client's production system for troubleshooting a problem), ANY hotfix request returns the same error. I am in New Zealand, but have used this service fine in the past. The specific URL in question is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978395 (but
any hotfix request has the same problem). A search on the error message shows other people routinely have the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have created a small farm with a default installation. I have 2 web application configured using Claims authentication.
The first web application is hosting a site called
http://sharepoint.domain.com running a standard team site.
The second web application is hosting a site called
http://my.sharepoint.domain.com and is running the Mysite.
When I install the October cumulative update the My Site links vanish and the My site is no longer accessible showing a sharepoint Access Denied page.
Has anyone else experience this? Do you know how to fix it?
Has anyone succeeded in downloading this in the last week? Whenever I click on the link to request a hotfix (i.e. download the update), it says "try back later":
