dynamic creating controls in webpart

Hello everybody,

My webpart (wss 3.0, VS2005) initialy contain a listbox. Depeding on the selection made a certain amount of textboxes are to be created and rendered. Via these dynamically created / rendered textboxes text can be submitted (via a button), for futher processing.

I am not sure how, or where in the webpart code, to dynamically create these textboxes.

Maybe somebody can give me some advise on this topic.

Thanks in advance

Error when creating a webpart using user controls

I received the following error when trying to create a webpart with user controls.

Unable to cast object of type 'ASP._controltemplates_UserControl_ascx' to type 'namespace.class'. I deleted all the files from the location
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files, but still the same error occurs.
Here is the code for referencing the user control.

protected const string defaultUserControlPathField = "~/_controltemplates/myUserControl.ascx";
 protected string userControlPathField = defaultUserControlPathField;
 namespace.class tempControl;
UserControl myControl;
 myControl = (UserControl)this.Page.LoadControl(this.userControlPathField);
                    tempControl = (namespace.class)myControl;

Does anyone have an idea about this error?

if stream is larger than 100KB that user put bigger file

FileStream can not use URI as location only disc location

asynchronous loading user controls

I have 3 user controls that I have to load at the same time.  They each contain a gridview that pulls data from the database.  They are doing a "delay" load of the data so there is a progress bar template that shows that the data is loading however the first gridview fires and loads, then the second, then the third and I need them to all fire at the same time.  Any ideas?

To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: The class Form can be designed, but is not the first class in the file. New Webpart Creating Problem

hi, after the successfully created one webpart in visual studio2008,wen i m creating second webpart then it is showing following error. Error 1 The feature name WebParts already exists in SharePoint. You need to rename the feature before solution deployment can succeed.  I tried to rename the webpart name and deleted from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES location.But still the same error exist.

WebPart has empty viewstate on postback

I have a simple weather web part in the form of a user control.  This usercontrol has an update panel and a textbox to allow the user to enter in a zip code/ city etc and an ok button.  The problem comes in when the webpart is added or dragged outside of Zone 1.  If this webpart remains in Zone 1 everything is fine.  If it is in Zone 2 or 3 after entering a zip code and hitting ok and posting back the value of the textbox is always blank.  It seems like the viewstate is cleared or the control is loading for the first time.  I have checked the Page.IsPostBack property and it is indeed True.  What would cause my control to loose the value entered in the textbox only when it resides outside of Zone 1?

Creating Custom ASP.NET Control for use on a SharePoint 2010 OOTB WebPart

I am currently trying to develop a custom asp.net control that can be deployed to SharePoint 2010 and then included on something like a New item form. I have been able to build the control as part of a webpart but it needs to be done as a stand alone control that can be used on various webparts including the out of the box webparts like the WebPartPages:DataFormWebPart. Are there any good examples of building a custom control, deploying it to SharePoint and then using SharePoint designer to add that control to an existing web part?

Modal Loading Popup on Async Postback

Hi everyone, I have a web application that does some complicated data retrieval tasks and so I am trying to show a modal dialog box with a loading message when the tasks begins. I am using ASP.Net 3.5, the jQeury popup I am using is bPopup. Firstly, I have a table where the rows can be clicked. Im am using a script from http://bloggingabout.net/blogs/mveken/archive/2008/01/02/performing-async-postback-from-javascript.aspx to do an async postback from the table row. Here is my functionfunction Server(eventName, eventArgs) { $("#<%=lDiv.ClientID %>").openPopup(); var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); if (!Array.contains(prm._asyncPostBackControlIDs, eventName)) { prm._asyncPostBackControlIDs.push(eventName); } if (!Array.contains(prm._asyncPostBackControlClientIDs, eventName)) { prm._asyncPostBackControlClientIDs.push(eventName); } __doPostBack(eventName, eventArgs); } so the $("#<%=lDiv.ClientID %>").openPopup();  opens up my loading modal and then the server starts doing its thing. When the server finishes though how would I then close the dialog box? I just need to call one line of code like $("#<%=lDiv.ClientID %>").closePopup(); Thanks for your help

Creating controls at runtime

Hello all, I am creating a calendar tool where you can insert events on certain dates.  Right now I have a textbox where the date of the event is entered and a button that will create another textbox beneath that for a second date.  When I click the add button the second textbox is created just fine, but if I click on it anymore it won't do anything. Here is my code behind for the add button... any ideas?  Dim recurringDate As TextBox = New TextBox() Dim spacer As LiteralControl = New LiteralControl("<br />") recurringDate.ID = "recurringDate" & hdnCount.Text recurringDate.Width = 100 PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(recurringDate) PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(spacer) hdnCount.Text = (CInt(hdnCount.Text) + 1).ToString

1st PostBack only: SelectedIndexChanged events fire AND GridView & ReadOnly controls disappear

On initial load of the page, everything is visible & runs correct. On the first PostBack fired by any one of my DDLs, RadioBtns, LinkBtns that have the AutoPostBack=true property, then ddlPriority_SelectedIndexChanged & ddlPendUserReqType_SelectedIndexChanged events always fire (and only from these DDLs, the others don't fire inappropriately), even when neither of those controls had been selected. Then my GridView gridPendRoles disappears, unless a DataSource & DataBind() is forced. Any ReadOnly controls (lblTicketID, txbxInsertTicketDate, lblPendUserID) will also loose their data/text in the first PostBack. However, every PostBack following will not inappropriately fire events. And as long as a DataSource was set & DataBind() called a 2nd time at any time during any PostBack, the GridView will stay visible with correct data displayed. Again, as long as the ReadOnly controls have their data/text set a 2nd time during any PostBack, they too will retain their data/text for every following PostBack. I've tried debugging with Trace on & walked thru everything very thoroughly, but still cannot catch any reasons why this would occur. And since I am using the Delete & Edit command linkBtns in my GridView, I can't just force a DataSource & DataBind() on every PostBack, or I would loose those Row
