How to install the Css Friendly Control Adapter Source Code

Hi guys really new to ASP.NET I was trying to install the CSS Friendly control adapter but for some reason the instructions on the website seems outdated. I downloaded all the files (Source Code, DLL, Browser) I believe I need to add the DLL file to my website's Bin folder and the Browser file to the APP_Browsers folder is this correct? After I place this files how to I get it working? what do I have to do?

Also if I want to create a new DLL file from the Source code how do I do these? I opened the web-site with Visual Studio 2008 and I can see all the files in the solution explorer? But how do I compile this to a DLL file? I tried doing a build solution but all I get is an .sln file???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Virtual Source Code Control Systems: Promoting and Managing Projects using Visual SourceSafe

Source code control systems like Microsoft Visual SourceSafe can simplify just about any development project, and make it easier for your code to move safely among individual programmers, development teams, and project stages. Visual SourceSafe provides an object model that you can use as the basis of your own customized source code control environment. To give you an idea of what is possible, we'll walk you through the elements of a browser-based source code control system built with Visual SourceSafe, ASP, and VBScript. This simple system lets members of your team build, label, and promote individual files or entire projects, and to reverse promotions.

Problem getting applicaton to run after retrieving it from source control software.

I am restoring my asp 2.0 app from a source control project to my local drive.

The application was originally created on a different PC but was created with Visual Studio 2005,

ASP.net 2.0.

The source control add-in (Harvest) is not working correctly so I retrieving and saving my web app

outside of Visual Studio.

I finally put all the pieces of the web app back together but now when I compile my app I get the following message:

Build (web): Could not load the assembly 'App_Web_myApplication.master.cdcab7d2'. Make sure that it is compiled before accessing the page.

Will I have to start over ?

Thanks for your insights !

VS 2010 and data source issues

I've been banging my head against the wall for the past 4 hours on this one and think I'm going to need a little help here. I must be missing something. I'm in VS 2010 on Windows 7. I've got a web project which has been going fine, but no matter what I do I can't get a data source to show up in the Data Source window. I've added a data source using Data > Add New Data Source, and the "wizard" appeared to complete successfully. I have a data source showing in my solution explorer, and if I open the .xsd file I see all my tables from a remote SQL 2005 database. I have a good data connection to the database server showing up in the Server Explorer window. But no matter what I do I cannot get anything to appear in the Data Sources window, which is greyed out (the commands at the top are grayed out and there's gray text in the middle of the window reading "There are no data sources to show for the selected project"). Under the main Data menu at the top of VS, the "Show Data Sources" and "Add New Data Source" commands are missing. I can sometimes get them to reappear if I restart Visual Studio or reboot the OS, but not consistently. I've been all over Google on this and have tried every suggested solution I can find, to no avail. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Custom Control issues in Business Connecitvity Services

Hi ,

I am working on a BCS project. I am required to create a custom control(DropDownList) for one of the columns in the external list that is being modeled using BDC Model in Visual Studio. I could create a custom control for the list

Here is the code for the custom control and part of the BDCM file.

Source control System

I have a .net web based application which was developed with .net 2.0 framework and the IDE used for development was MS VISUAL STUDIO 2005. I am looking for a compatible source control system for .net application. Unfortunately, our company is offering only the following systems excluding VSS. I dont know which one to choose. Can you please make your recommendation?
1. ClearQuest
2. ClearCase
3. SVN

Binding a DVDropDown control to a XML data source

I'm having a heck of time figuring how to get my DVDropDown control to display items from the SoapDataSource (SOAP web service) or XmlDataSource (REST).

If I create a data view for the same data sources, I can see the data just fine, but when I go to Data Fields dialog, I can select the data source in the dropdown but in all cases, the two other dropdown to pick the value and display text are blank and there's nothing for me to select though I know there should be columns available for selection.

I've also tried manually coding those parameters, accounting for the possibility that I may need fully qualified XPath to get to the column itself but that causes an error.

What could I be missing?

Unable to drag data source to control to bind

I have a simple test application following the directions from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd465159.aspx .  When I attempt to drag the data source onto the design surface I get the following error:

Cannot add the control to the design surface or bind to the control because the type TestApp.AdventureWorksEntities cannot be resolved.  Please try to build the project or add necessary assembly references.

The project as been built and the data source is in the same namespace.  I did a search for this error and the only hit I found was here, and mentioned Tools->Options->Extension Manager, 'Load per use extensions...'.  This option is checked.  I've tried unchecking and restarted with the same behavior.

Any ideas?

Source Control Explorer tab is shown when pressing 'S' key in Workflow Designer

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and I also have TFS Server 2010 Power Tools installed. The problem I'm experiencing every time I load the Workflow Designer is that whenever I press the S key, Visual Studio takes me to the "Source Control Explorer" tab. This would happen if you were editing the title of any activity on the designer or just had the focus on the designer itself.

I checked the keyboard shortcuts for this tab (View.TfsSourceControlExplorer), and verified that there are none assigned to it. Nonetheless, I tried to assign a shortcut to the tab (both at a Global and Workflow Designer level), in order to see if the behavior would be overwritten, but I had no success.

Any ideas on how I can overcome this problem?

ASP.NET newbie - any good open source control packs?

As an ASP.NET newbie I'm trying to get an initial project going without laying out huge sums for advanced visual components. Can anybody recommend any good open source control libraries for ASP.NET?   Something that includes a table, tree, calendar, and the usual mix of input/display controls.

Addressing Source Control on Controller for custom activity

I have read the blog posted regarding of source control address on controller by Ewlad Hofman, but I can't still seem to figure out how to have my custom activity working on my team server.

I have checked in simply everything (solution file, all related folders, codes, .xaml template file, etc.)

I'm just not sure which directory I should put for the controller to recognize my custom activity. Ah, the statement about that HostEnvironmentOption. All thing is already included in the .cs code.

Timer control issues...page gets slower and slower....

 Hi all,

I have a Update panel with a Timer control inside the <ContentTemplate> so the JavaScript timing component is re-created only when each postback finishes. I am testing with static data in a small table. I query this table every 3 seconds. It works great for the first 5 min but then it starts to take longer to retrieve the data.... (I can see that with a time stamp I post back in a Label control).

I am not sure why that is happening. I thought that was because I had the Timer control outside the UpdatePanel (as I was using a Trigger) but I moved that inside the UpdatePanel but still get the same results.

What could be happening here?

Thank you

SSIS - Global Data SOurce - Password issues

I have a simple solution with (right now) 4 packages, 3 configuration files and one "global" datasource.  Here is the View Code on the data source:

<DataSource xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dwd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/DataWarehouse/Designer/1.0" xsi:type="RelationalDataSource" dwd:design-time-name="02d8345e-665e-4bd8-9323-1e846af220e5" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine">

  <ConnectionString>Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Data Source=engsql03.dev.ihs.com;Persist Security Info=True;Password=;User ID=;Initial Catalog=PPDM37_Staging</ConnectionString>

As you can see, the <ConnectionStringSecurity> node is set with PasswordRemoved.  When editing the data source and checking the Keep Password option on it still saves wit

LINQ data source control and db connection string

I have designed a few pages which use LINQ datasources and Gridviews to maintain data.

I have built a data layer which happily uses System.Web.Configuration.WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("myConnectionString").ConnectionString

However, the LINQ data source controls use Settings.designer.vb MySettings class definition which is auto generated and doesn't except the above Connection string.

Any ideas?

Adding solution to source control

I am facing strange behavior while adding solution to source control.

I am using VS 2005 and Visual source safe 6.0.

When I add my solution to source control the source control is creating a folder structure as per my solution structure. e.g. My solution is at location "c:\\sunil\\myProject\\Customer1"

Now when i add this solution to VSS, it create folder structure as follows "$/Project/sunil/myProject/Customer1". Ideally it should create my solution under "$/Project" only.
