Hansel and Gretel had the right idea when "they followed the pebbles that glistened there like newly minted coins, showing them the way. " The deeper you get into the forest or into your data, the more likely you are going to need help to find your way back out again.

I have to admit it; most of my Windowsî Forms controls are an attempt to copy something that already exists. In my October 2004 column I showed you how to create a progress bar that mimicked the one shown during the Windows XP setup routine, and this month I'm at it again.

Hello Every one
I have to create dynamic TAB control which display relivance as tabs using jQuery.
I create a new control. At the new fuction, invoque a ConfigurationManager.GetSection method to obtain a property.
Public Sub New() MyBase.New()
_style As ClassStyle = DirectCast(ConfigurationManager.GetSection("configurationSection"), ClassStyle)
In a new webpage, insert the new control and obtain "Error Rendering Control - Object reference not set to an instance of an object". Debugging Visual Studio 2008, the method ConfigurationManager.GetSection("configurationSection") is Nothing.
Can't vs2008 resolve configuration section in design mode?
Sorry for my english.
I am using Visual Studio 2010. I was debugging a web application and an exception happened and VS 2010 froze. I ended the VS 2010 in the task manager and when I went back to developing, I found on every form for every ASP.net control I get:
Error Creating Control -
Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
Also I am unable to edit the form or add anything from the toolbox.
Any help on this matter will be appreciated.
I'm creating a custom control which inherets the BindingNavigator.
I need do add one ToolStripButton at specific posistion (9 element) on the ToolStrip of the BindingNavigator.
So, I wrote the following code:
.Name = "BindingNavigatorUndoChanges"
.Image = My
.ToolTipText = "Undo changes"
My question is: In which event of the custom control should I put this code?
Many thanks for any kind of help.
I recently downloaded Visual Web Developer Express 2010 and I am having difficulty with the report viewer control. I also downloaded the reportviewer 2010 redistibutable and added a reference to my site. When I drag and drop from the toolbox in design view the controls error is: Failed to create designer "Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer, Microsoft.Reportviewer.WebForms, version=10.0.0.0 culture=neutral PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a. It works when I view it in the browser and the report renders fine but I don't have access to it in design mode. Also, when I attempt to view a rdlc file it's the xml version instead of design mode.
I have a trial version of Visual Studio on another computer so I created a reportviewer website and opened this site with the Visual Web Developer Express 2010. The web.config relating to the reportviewer is below.
Thanks in advance for your assistance. There isn't much on the web to fix this problem.
