I couldn't find how to get existing claims added by IP-STS in my custom SPClaimProvider.FillClaimsForEntity. I need to add some custom claims to entity depending to claims added by IP-STS. unfortuantly SPClaimProvider.FillClaimsForEntity just give me "entity" claim, i need other claims already added by IP-STS so by that claim i can do my own claim augmentation. Please tell me if anyone has idea

New site columns added using xml,not shown in existing site collection

I have added new site columns to the existing content type using xml,deployed to a sharepoint application as a feature using VS2010. Now my problem is the site columns are not updated in existing pages under site coolection,it is showing only the existing site columns and not the new site columns. I then tried adding those site columns to the pages library manually,after that it is displaying those columns in pages and i can enter text in edit mode but whenever i save the page it is rendered with some tags like <span id="msrterangecursor">. It is shown for only new site columns.

Could anyone help with this.

URL Routing and Existing HttpHandler problems

Hello everyone,

I have a problem:

I am currently using 2 features:

1. HttpHandler

Registering the path="res.aspx" verb="*"

2. URL Routing:

Registering with this pattern: "Company/Edit/{*companyId}","~/CompanyEdit.aspx"

In my CompanyEdit.aspx page, I used httphandler res.aspx to generate some images at client.

  • res.aspx?img=1
  • res.aspx?img=3

Now the problem is here, the page is load success with companyId = "12345", but when the images was loaded at client, it loaded the CompanyEdit.aspx again and show error with wrong id.

I have debug and find the problem that because when image's urls were generated to client with url=res.aspx?img=1, url=res.aspx?img=3, the asp.net will understand that they are Company/Edit/res.aspx?img=1, Company/Edit/res.aspx?img=3 when it maps with URL Routing pattern.

=> So the CompanyEdit.aspx was load again with wrong id (id now is "res.aspx").

So, do you have any ideas to solve this problem, or other design.

Thanks, and best regard

Claims-Based Apps: Claims-Based Authorization with WIF

Over the past few years, federated security models and claims-based access control have become increasingly popular. Platform tools in this area have also come a long way. Windows Identity Foundation (WIF) is a rich identity model framework designed for building claims-based applications and services and for supporting active and passive federated security scenarios.

XML Schemas: Take Advantage of Existing External XML Schemas with a Custom Import Framework in ASP.N

Over the years, many industry-standard XML schemas and dialects have been developed. These industry-specific schemas embrace the original purpose of XML and are extremely valuable in promoting and supporting B2B interaction. Unfortunately, the ASP.NET Web Services runtime does not allow developers to directly reference external schemas from within their XML Web Services interface (the WSDL file). This article builds an external schema framework as an extension to the ASP.NET Web Services runtime to enable you to reference external schemas within your XML Web Service interface.

Connect to existing sql 2005 database

Hello There,

I had successfully restored sql 2000 database to sql 2005. It works like charm

Now i am creating a database model in MVC

I follow these steps

Right click on model > ADO.NET entity data model > Generate from database > New connection (Microsoft sql server) > server name > select or enter database name

But no server name AND database name show in both drop down lists. When i mannually enter database name (which exists in sql 2005) then click on TEST CONNECTION. It gives follwoing error

"A network-related or instance-specific error while establishing a connection to sql server. the server was not found or was not accessible. verify that the instance name is correct and that sql server is configured to allow remote connections.

Kindly help me with this

Question on using variations on an existing site

I've been using MOSS 2007 for my company's CMS system for the last 2 years or so. Recently, the marketing department has asked us to include the option for multilingual support so naturally, I looked to using variations to accomplish this, however, the site was setup without variations since this was "definitely" not a requirement back when we setup the site.

My problem is when I enable variations, it seems to create new sites off of the root (e.g. English, Spanish, French), however,  it isn't copying anything from the Root site that already exists or any of it's subsites or pages. Is there any to keep my existing site content intact and still use variations, including all of the update features?

Thanks in advance

Is it. Is it really?

Workflow field not being added to list or views when adding a workflow

This problem just started happening in my entire site collection.  Anytime I associate a workflow to any list or doc lib the Workflow column that shows the status and links to the history is not beind added to the list or any views and is nowhere to be found.   Here's exactly what I'm doing:

1.  Go the List settings -> workflow settings -> add a workflow (for this example the OOB approval workflow)

2.  After adding I go to the List, the workflow column doesn't exist.

3.  I go to "modify view", and the workflow column is not listed in the available columns.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Overwriting Existing InfoPath 2003 Forms

I'm having a big problem in my Sharepoint Environment.

So far I've created a form in InfoPath 2003 and successfully published it to a Form Library. It's also submitting correctly (at least at first).

Now after I added a couple forms, let's say three forms with unique file names, and then I open the second one, make a change and submit it again, it disappears from the "All Items" list. I can still see it sitting in the "Explorer View", but it's missing in the other. Now when I try to "Fill out a new Form", it either won't show up in the list or it will show up but with the column fields that have been populated previously.

We're using WSS 2.0 and InfoPath 2003.

I used this guide to create the unique filenames: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/SharePointSubmitInfoPath.aspx

In my view, the issue lies in trying to overwrite existing files and not appearing in the list.

Any help is much appreciated !!!

Thanks in advance.

Info Path form when modified by using UTF-8 encoding having issues with existing 'iso-8859-1' char

I am modifying the infio path form 2007 from my state machine workflow to constantly update the status fields in the request form.

below is the method i created for the same..

private void updateInfoPathRequestForm(string xpathNode, string nodeValue)
            SPUserToken token = workflowProperties.Web.CurrentUser.UserToken;
            using (SPSite _site = new SPSite(workflowProperties.Site.ID, token))
                _site.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
                using (SPWeb _web = _site.OpenWeb(workflowProperties.Web.ID))
                    SPListItem item = _web.Lists[workflowProperties.List.ID].Items[workflowProperties.Item.UniqueId];

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I get this message when I try to launch a report (.rdl) from Windows Sharepoint 2007.  I have followed the steps to integrate SQL 2005 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007.  I can launch the report by navigating to "http://server:880/reportserver/.."  I am using a shared datasource that I created within sharepoint.  Any help would be appreciated.

Walkthrough: Writing a Claims Provider in SharePoint 2010

By using claims authentication, you can assign rights based on claims without knowing who a user is, or how they are authenticated. You have to know only the attributes of the user.

Download a code sample that shows how to write a claims provider in SharePoint 2010 to augment claims and provide name resolution.
