Trying to generate dynamic link to a document within approval workflow email message

In the out of the box approval workflow, the fields below are used to dynamically create a link within the email for a user to access the item/document to be reviewed:

Review [%TaskProcess:Item Title%].[%Variable: InternetLink%]

If I create an approval workflow and modify the text around what comes out of the box, the link works.  If I add those exact fields (period and space included) via the "Add or Change Lookup" box (field selector), it doesn't work. It displays the title as a link but without a document extension of XML (for Infopath form for instance).

I don't want to have to delete my workflow and recreate it just to get that link to work.

Any ideas on why the "[%TaskProcess:Item Title%].[%Variable: InternetLink%]" only works when it is created out of the box versus building the string manually ?

Reg: Turn on more accessible mode & Skip to main content link message on Infopath2007 browser form

I have a infopath 2007 browser enabled form with c# code behind . The Infopath form is embeded\hosted in to a custom layouts page (.aspx) on MOSS 2007. The issue is when users use keyboard to fill the form, they often use <TAB> & <Enter> keys. So when they are using the tabbing at one location in the form, I have a "Contact selector" field, I enter a name & then hit <TAB> key the focus now comes to "name cheker" I then hit <Enter> key, I hit <TAB> again, the focus now comes to a button named "Accept", I hit <Enter> key & a filed below is populated with the values from user profile service. Now when I hit <TAB> I expect the focus should now come to that automatically populated field below the "Contact selctor". Because Infopath assings the tab order by default form top to bottom & left to right and I havent changed that default tab order.

But, the focus moves to top of the webpage with a clickable link to "Turn on more accessible mode" I hit tab one more time & the link on top changes to "Skip to main content". This bheaviour does not seem to be happning in other form controls when they hit <Tab>, <Enter>. There are couple of areas on the infopath form where I have such a controls (layed ou

Trying to get to a page via an email link. Could the sitemap be stopping this?

I had this working.  I would email a link to a page (i.e. Work.aspx), and using the code below, the user would be routed to the login page and then sent  to Work.aspx after logging in.

But since I added a site map this isn't working.  I always go directly to my home page.  If I set Work.aspx as my start page in VS it works, but not if I click a link in the email.

Any thoughts?

Sending an email with a link that verifies an id in sql server

I have an online job application program that the user fills out and submits the information to our database and on the last page they give there email address so that we can send them an email that has a link that is associated with the ID that's autogenerated by the sql server database when the user submits the information, when the link is clicked it verifies to the database to keep the information submitted by that user per their autogenerated ID. Below is the code that i've written to send the email I have the link setup to go to yahoo right now but I am not sure how to get this to send the autogenerated link that is associated with the ID that is autogenerated already in my sql server database.Private Sub SendMail()        Dim emailSender As SmtpClient        Dim theMessage As MailMessage        Dim EmailAddress As String = txtEmailAddress.Text        emailSender = New System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient("ppicom")        theMessage = New MailMessage        theMessage. From = New MailAddress("PeerlessProductsInc @mail.com")        theMessage.To.Add(EmailAddress)        theMessage.

Incomming Email Not Working Correctly in SharePoint 2010

Hello everyone, We recently upgraded from SharePoint 2007 to 2010. Prior to the upgrade I had two SharePoint Document libraries setup to receive incoming emails. We had two reports scheduled in Reporting Services and each report emailed a document library once a week. After the upgrade this stopped working. The reason this stopped working was because the file names of the attachments were the same each week, however in 2007, sharepoint would append a random 4 digits to the end of the file name. Was the removed from 2010 on purpose? After discovering this didn't work, I decided to create a workflow on these lists that anytime and item is added go change the file name to include the list ID to ensure that the file names will be unique. Only to find out that items added to the list from the incomming emails do not trigger the workflow. Doing some research on this and it looks like it was turned into Mircosoft as a bug in 2007 which had a fix, but the fix is only for 2007 is doesn't say it applies to SharePoint 2010 so I don't want to install it. Anyone know if there is a fix for this in SharePoint 2010? Thanks in advance, Matt

Sending email via SmtpClient() not working with smtp.gmail.com :(

Help I cannot seem to send an email via my gmail account using "C#" why not?   <system.net> <mailSettings> <smtp deliveryMethod="Network" from="ian.coetzer@gmail.com"> <network host="smtp.gmail.com" port="587" enableSsl ="true" defaultCredentials ="false" password ="xxxxxx" userName ="ian.coetzer@gmail.com"></network> </smtp> </mailSettings> </system.net> SmtpClient smtpClient = new SmtpClient(); MailMessage message = new MailMessage(); try { message.To.Add(emailTo); message.Subject = ""; message.Body = GetEmailBody(userName, password, url); smtpClient.Send(message); return true; } catch(Exception ex) { throw new ApplicationException("Could not send notification.", ex); }   I.W Coetzer

How do I add additional information to email message

I have a contact form that has the standard email fields such as name, email, street address, city, state, and body.  This is being done with System.Net.Mail.  I understand how to use the body, to/from address, and subject.  I don't understand how to include the street address, city, and state with the email though.  I want this additional information to be sent with the email some how so the recipient can have access to it.  I assume this should be included with the body when the email is sent.  I don't understand the best way to so this though.  I thought about appending the values of these fields to the body of the email.  I don't know how to format this so it looks good though.  The formatting I want to do is very basic.  I would like each of these values to be on a separate line before or after the body of the email.  I'm not interested in colors or anything too fancy.   I prefer to send a plain text email, if possible, if these values can be included on their own line. Can anyone provide an example or a link to an article on this?  Do I have to use an html formatted email and create new lines with in the body for these fields?

Email alerts no longer working- please help.

Hello- I recently had a problem applying an SSL certificate to my MOSS 2007 site where I had to rebuild a lot things in order to get the site back up and running.  Now that it is, I can no longer get email alerts to the users.  The odd thing is that when I set up a calendar event, only me (the site administrator) receives an automated message from 'Administrator@xyz.com'???  This tells me that the smtp settings are correct.  I have found severl posts about this but they are all from developers who think that everyone knows how to program and so their answers are not step by step for me to at least try them out?  Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Windows Forms application Stopped Working message in Windows Vista

A Windows Forms application developed with VB2008 Express that has been successfully run on two Windows XP systems and a Windows 7 system fails to run on two of two Windows Vista systems tried so far.

Attempting to run the app on a Windows Vista system results in a system dialog box titled, Microsoft Windows, with the message, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  A single button at the lower right of the dialog contains the text, Close Program.
The initial form of the application never displayed and the dialog above appeared with little delay after attempting to start the program.

The program uses an SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 database and the program is compiled to include the following .DLL files so the user does not need to install SQL ServerCE.

The Load event of the initial form causes a DataSet to be filled from the SQL CE DB.

How can I edit the link to the document in a Approval Task email?

With the 2010 out of the box Approval workflow, the emails and tasks work just great, however, when a user receives the email, the instructions look like this:

To complete this task:
2. Perform the specific activities required for this task.
3. Use the Open this task button to mark the task as completed. (If you cannot update this task, you might not have access to it.)

Currently, we are using a friendly url for our users, in order to access their SharePoint site.  The <LINKED DOCUMENT> when clicked on, gives them an error and doesn't take them to the actual document in the SharePoint site, because of the fact that we are using a different url name for the site.

If there any way I can edit this auto-generated email so that the links will always be to the friendly url of our SharePoint site with each document?

Thanks in advance!

Create Email Message and Send to Client For Review before Sending

Please read this post carefully. I am not looking to actually send an email using ASP.NET.

I am looking for a means by which ASP.NET can create an Outlook MailItem and stream it to the client machine for the user to review prior to sending. I know that its possible to create files such as Word docs and Excel spreadsheets an then stream them, but I don't know how to do it with ASP.NET.
