Feature with wsp for creating specific groups on any site creation

hi, i need to create a sharepoint feature for wss 3.0 with .wsp (wsp for easy deployment) which do folowing funtionality: Ability to run some custom code for creating specific custom groups on every site creation. Feature needs to be activated when deployed so when user create new site it creates groups based on our custom code( i have custom code for creating gorups just need to know how to attached it to feature which works on every site creation event) Any workable example is very helpful for me because i am very confuse and already did reasearch on that. i guess feature stapling is not the solution in my case. sharepoint security groups, ACL of site collection or subsite need to move in to sql server 2008 usi

HI Team,

I am new to sharepoint here is my query. i am working on MOSS 2007, SQL server 2008

I want to move the sharepoint security groups, ACL(access control list), user groups all the security and permission related data to sql server 2008 from a particular site collection or subsite. After getting the data in to sql server we should be able to update the users from sql server itself which should reflect in sharepoint sites.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Asp.net web site security database

Hello all, I'm new to asp.net and I'm currently practising some few stuffs. I'm creating a hotel reservation system using ASP.net Web site in visual studio 2008 and I currently don't have an App_Data in my solution explorer unlike visual web developer.

1. I have planned to make users of the website login before making their reservations.

2. I have also planned to develop the website such that I will be able to know all reservations made by each user.

First and formost, I will like to know how I can access/View the security database?

Secondly, how do I link my custom made reservation database and the security database in order to achieve my second plan above.?

Someone help me.

Thank you.

Security Briefs: Customizing GINA, Part 2

GINA, the Graphical Identification and Authentication component, is a part of WinLogon that you can customize or replace. Last month I introduced GINA customization; this month, I'm going to drill down to implement each of the GINA entry points.

Provisioning: Use Web Services Provisioning to Control Access, Usage, and Billing on Your Site

Building Web Services to provide enterprise-level solutions is only the first step. You need to take care of the infrastructure aspects of your solution as well, including provisioning, billing, security, and reporting. In this article, the author uses the .NET Framework and SQL Server 2000 to design a provisioning system that will take care of all these housekeeping tasks. He discusses the general requirements of a Web Service provisioning system, walks through the implementation, and then outlines various scenarios for putting this system to work.

Web Security: Part 2: Introducing the Web Application Manager, Client Authentication Options, and Pr

This article, the second of two parts, continues coverage of Web security for Windows. It introduces the Web Application Manager in IIS that allows Web processes to be isolated, decreasing the security risk associated with running in a logon session. The article then picks up where Part One left off-it discusses authentication methods such as basic authentication, digest authentication, integrated Windows authentication, and anonymous logons, and the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Redirect to Security Questions if Site accessed from unrecognized computer?

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and i'm using the Membership Provider.  I have the need to do similar to some banking sites. Baically I need to track "authorized" computers/ip's for a user.  If the user accesses the site form a recognized Computer/IP then the user is allowed into the app after successful login.  If the computer/IP is not recognized I need to redirect them to a screen to answer the security question setup in fhte Membership Provider.

Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone point me to any examples?  I did a search, but can't seem to find anything.

My idea is to maintain a list of authorized computers/IP addresses and check them on initial login.  If the IP address isn't found I can redirect them to the questions.  My concern is that they are then actually authenticated and could enter any of the site URL's as an authenticated user.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Why feature with event receiver doesn't activate properly after site provisioning?

I have defined feature with event receivers for my document library and for users List .

I try to activate my feature in onet.xml in section <WebFeatures>. After provisioning a new site from onet.xml  all work fine and my feature is shown as activated, but event receivers doesn't fire. It fires only after reactivating my feature (deactivate, then activate it again). But I need my feature works immediately after site provisioning without deactivating and activating it again. Who knows how to solve this problem?
