Error opening site using SPSite and SPWeb instances using VS 2010, Win Server 2008 R2

Hi I am trying to open my site using SPSite and SPWeb instances and getting an error message as below-

The Web application at http://url could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.

  CODE is -

                    SPSite siteCOll = new SPSite(siteURL);

                    SPWeb oWeb = siteCOll.OpenWeb("url");

I can access site using browser perfectly.

I am running VS as administrator.

I have done permission checking aswell.

please help!

Error occured when using SPWeb or SPSite in webpart

I am creating a custom webpart, in which I have a label control. This label will display the current site URL and here is the code

protected override void CreateChildControls()
            SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.Web;
            string baseURL = wb.Url.ToString();
            Label lblTitle = new Label();
            lblTitle.Text = baseURL.ToString();

But when I try to use SPWeb or SPSite within CreateChildControl method, I am getting an unexpected error occurred message. Also I have used "using Microsoft.SharePoint;" too.

If suppose I comment those two line my web part is displaying the properly. As below

protected override void CreateChildControls()
            //SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.W

IDisposable SPSite and SPWeb fixes

I think those of you who know how to fix this will see the title and laugh....saying oh yea..I remember when I first discovered that.  So here we go.

MOSS2007.  Performance started going bad this week.  Very bad.  MS called in for support.  They ran a scan and pointed us to the stuff that we should address.  They pointed me at this MSDN Article basing on Stefan Goßner's writeup on fixing this stuff.  They asked me to run the SPDispose Utility against all of my custom code.  I did and the output showed no errors.

However, I scanned the log files of my DEV box, where I'm the only user.  I started some of my VS2008 Workflows.  I get the usual error

ERROR: request not found in the TrackedRequests. We might be creating and closing webs on different threads. SQL Server intallation -- Edition Change Check(warning)

I have 10 sql server instance in one single node cluster, 2 of them has been upgraded to sp4, the rest 8 is sp2. I uninstalled one of sql server instance, and recreate a new instance.

During sql server 2005 setup system configuration check, I got a message

" Edition Change Check (Warning)

To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter."

I check the forum, and got this thread:

I would like to know:

is it true that we have to install all instance before we do patch? otherwise, we will get the above message when try to install new instance?

If I ignore the warning, continue the install, what possible result will get? I can not try in my environment, since I do not want to mess up with the rest 9 instance.

Using a CompareValidator to check input is a valid date

The CompareValidator can do more than just compare two controls. You can also compare it against several of the main .net data types such as Date, Integer, Double and Currency.

To do this you would set Operator="DataTypeCheck" and instead of setting the ControlToCompare or ValueToCompare attributes as you normally would you use the Type="Date" (or any of the data types I have listed above).

Check All with JQuery and a Asp.Net GridView

Display a Grid on the screen with a checkbox in each row. At the bottom of the page have "Check All" button.

Typically if I need to do anything interesting I use a template column. So my GridView will look like the one below (most other columns removed for readability). The only interesting point to note is the CssClass="ApprovalCheckBox" in the CheckBox ItemTemplate.

check box control

Hi ,

I have a three check box in my web form ,i need to choose only one check box, if i choose one check box

another 2 check box automatically unchecked

can i use jquery for check box

I thought this would be simple... Trying to create a login does an ajax check before submit

I have the standard .net login control that is working.  (Still learning .net after 15yrs of classic)

What I want to do is OnButtonClick run a javascript function (to do an ajax call to the db to check if login is valid or not) and if it returns true, then submit the form normally, else don't submit. The piece that I can't figure out, is how to correctly override the default click even to hit my JS routine and then submit the form properly afterwards.

Thanks ahead of time

how to check a textbox value in jquery?

I want to perform some action when an asp.net textbox value length is greater than 1 character. And for this I wanted to know how to write this check in jquery?

I have created a check like below-

if ($('[id=txtUserInput]').val().length > 2)
{ do some work...}

But its giving me the following error

$("[id=txtUserInput]").val() is undefined

Can anybody let me know the right way of doing this?

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?

Automatically redirect to HTTPS and check if SSL is active

I've set in the web.config:

    <!-- User Authentication -->
    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms loginUrl="~/Page/View/Content/Login.aspx" timeout="2880" requireSSL="true" />

This works fine. If there is no ssl connection, the login form doesn't continue. But I would like to check if ssl is active (in codebehind) and, if it's possible, to automatically the user to the https page if he's currently on http. (I could do this job by manually redirect with page.response("https://url.../login.aspx"); but this is not really generic. For example if the webapp is moved to another domain it doesn't work anymore... I'm looking for something like: FormsAuthentication.RedirectWithSSL(); or so... :D)

Use Membership but bypass / disable password usage for users

I have an application that does LDAP authentication. The authentication is done on the code behind page of my Login.aspx page. Once the user passes LDAP authentication, a cookie is set and I redirect:

FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, False)

I would like to setup membership in my application and keep track of some user information. But due to company security requirements, I cannot store user passwords on my application. That must stay on the LDAP server only.

Is there a way to store users but disable password storage on the aspnet_membership table?
