Explorer view losing folder path information

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi all, I am writing a custom webpart to replace SP's default ListWebPart in my document library view page. But I found it can't keep the folder information when showing the "Explorer View". For example, I enter a subfolder "root/folder 1" and select "Explorer View" in  ViewToolbar, it returns the root folders content. But when I click the "Open in Windows Explorer" in ActionMenu, it returns contents of folder 1. I see the Sharepoint's ListViewWebpart does not have this problem. It can return correct contents when I enter a sub folder and click "Explorer View". The page's url contains correnct query strings about folder path (in my own webpart the query string is missing). Is it because I forget some config for the toolbar since I add it via codes? Below is my code to add the toolbar:   SPView view = this.CurrentView; if (view == null) return null; this._toolbar = new ViewToolBar(); this._toolbar.ID = this.ID + "_ViewToolBar"; this._toolbar.RenderContext = SPContext.Current; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(view.ToolbarTemplateName)) { this._toolbar.TemplateName = view.ToolbarTemplateName; } return this._toolbar;   Thanks a lot.

Sharepoint Explorer View - Different Folder Icons Question

I have multiple XP pro clients accessing my sharepoint server and utilizing Explorer View on Document Librarys to access and modify documents and folders.  I have 2 users whose folders show up differently than the others and have some strange capability limitations that the rest of my user base does not experience.  I tried searching around for a solution or at least an explanation to what is happening on these 2 machines.  The  folder icon is different on these two machines and shows 2 small documents over teh folder in the icon.  What does this mean?  How do i fix it so that this machine has the same folders and capabilities as everyone else?  Thank you in advance to any who can shed light on this subject.  I tried to post a screen shot, but this forum does not allow pictures.

Method/Way to know whether a input path of FilesSystem contains any Child file/folder or not

Hi,I am looking for a Method/Way to know whether a input path of FilesSystem contains any Child file/folder or not. To know it currently I am using "Directory.GetFileSystemEntries(Path).Count" and checking if count > 0 then returning True else False. For this first method calculates all the files and folder and then return status to me but I want to exit out as soon as my method gets first element(file/folder) in specified path. Because above method is timing out when my input path contains more than 1 million files. I just need to check whether input folder path contains any child file/folder or not. I have tried to use Win32 API also but on ther server it is crashing so I donot want to use that solution. In .NET any method or way is present to know it. Please suggest me.

Can not copy: The file exists. (Explorer View)

Hello Community,               I used to copy bunch of files from windows explorer to sharepoint 2007 document library in its explorer view. But now I could not. It gives me error "Can not copy xyz: The file exists". The files does not exists already.             I also created many different new files [Different Name/Different File Type] and copy to server but still no luck. I have logged in to SharePoint with Admin Account and verified that no such file already exists.             I have the many machines and using Windows XP and Windows 7. For Windows 7 I never found the problem and Windows XP [with IE 6] if I use normal user for windows logon [Normal user have the “Full Control” permission in SP] I cannot use drag and drop files. It shows the error message “Cannot copy file <filename> The file exists”. For “My Network Places” I created and point to document libraries such as http://serversite/Docs [“Docs” It’s a document libraries list] but no luck. I tried from multiple Windows XP workstations and It works in few but cannot make out any differences between these machines.          &n

Hi Everyone, Suppose I have a document library which can be opened using the explorer view, what happened if someone uploads to this library by drag n drop into the library with same filename? What would be the final story of the file which is overwritten through drag n drop from Explorer view ? Thanks./* Infrastructure Support Engineer */

Can't view the SharePoint Site. Explorer won't take domain account

Hi, I'm having issues viewing the SharePoint 2010 Site that I have deployed from any workstation. It seems that my permissions settings have broken - even though I haven't touched them. Whenever http://start/ is visited (the Intranet top site) it asks for credentials. They should have been taken from the User that was logged onto the machine. E.g. NATWIDE\UserA. After entering the credentials, it doesn't accept them, and asks for them again. And again. And then blank page. I'm not receiving the SharePoint "restricted access" page... HOWEVER, when I log into the website via Mozilla Firefox - it appears that the credentials are fine, and it works according to the permissions set for the site from within SharePoint. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. I'm completely stumped and I can't find a similar issue anywhere else. I have installed a Stand-alone installation of SharePoint 2010 Server Enterprise on Server 2008. The account that installed the SharePoint server and is a FARM Administrator, can't even log in to view the page. Cheers, Stu. Accessing path information

Hi,I'm developing an application where the user needs to browse to a particular folder( network folder) and then I need to pass the name out to a text box.For example if the user browsers to a folder "//Myfirst/test/ABC/ " then I need to retrieve the last directory name which is "ABC". So textbox1.text = ABC .Currently using a file uploader to browse to the directory but I find that the path information cannot be retrieved throught a file uploader as the browser security does not allow this information to be passed out. Would appreciate any help/suggestions in getting this information needed to the text box. Thanking in advancePS: The folder which the user browsers to ( in the above  "//Myfirst/test/ABC/ ") is a blank folder and does not have any files in it.

Windows explorer view doesn't work on Windows 7

We are running Office SharePoint 2007 with SP2 on windows 2003 server. All windows 7 with IE 8 gets this message: " Please wait while Explorer View is loaded. If Explorer View does not appear, your browser may not support it". when click Windows Explorer in View. All Vista and XP work fine. I have tried these: 1. Added the SharePoint site on a Trusted Site. 2. Web Client is set to Automatically start, and that it is started. 3. We have Office 2003 installed on all computers. 4. We also tried to enable Comtability View. When I restart VS 2008 and DatabaseEngine service then only it opens the Database. Also sometimes I face problem of memory corrupt. May I know what could be the reason for this issue?  How can I permanently resolve it? Regards, Nandkishore

How to link Title to it's associated page in list view without URL path column visible -bug?

I don't know if this is a bug or if I'm an idiot (or perhaps both, I'm open minded).   My site I'm developing is a site with publishing features activated where all my news stories are pages. What I want to have is a sortable list (the type hypothetically achieved using the XsltListView Web Part) the lists these pages with 3 columns visible: The Date created, the title (not the page name), and the author. The tricky part is that I would like the title, when clicked on, to take the person to the page. I'm actually almost there. I've created a new view with these specifications except for one issue. To make the title linked to the page, I have to have the column "URL Path" in my list view. When I remove this column, the titles instead all link to the root of the directory I'm in (ex: if I'm in Pages/Forms/My_List.aspx it will link to Pages/Forms/) Is this a bug, or is the URL Path required for the link to work? Is there a way to hide the column? Thanks.

Windows 7, Office 2007, and WSS 3.0: Losing file path when saving to Document Library.

A client of ours recently purchased 5 desktops with Windows 7 and Office 2007.  They use Sharepoint to share all documents for their company. The computers that have Windows XP on them can browse the Sharepoint site, open documents (read only or edit), and chose to Save or Save As.  A new window pops open with their current file path of the Sharepoint Document Library so they can save the file in the same folder they opened it from.  I have tested this with Office 2003 and 2007 (Word and Excel) on XP and it always works. The 5 new desktops running Windows 7 cannot do this.  When a user opens a document by browsing to it from Internet Explorer and chooses to Save or Save As, they are kicked back to their last successful save point (usually My Documents or Desktop). The current work around is mapping a drive to the root Document Library directory and having them traverse through the folders to save it back in the original location. I've tried changing the Check Out save settings in Word 2007 and Excel 2007 to edit directly on the server, but I run into the same problem.  I've also made sure that IE sees the site as a Local Intranet site and Protected Mode is off. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

SharePoint 2007 - Windows 7 - Explorer View (Leaves a copy in recycle bin)

Hi All, I am facing a strange problem with SharePoint 2007 & Windows 7. I open an existing word document from my PC(Windows 7) and click "save as" and provide a SharePoint document library file path (\\machinename\sitename\DocumentLibraryName) and save the file. The word file becomes visible in the Shared document library, BUT it leaves a copy in the recycle bin of the SharePoint site. Works Normal from Windows XP PC. Any clues. Would greatly appreciate anybody's effort. Regards KCM

View content of a specific folder in customized view

I would like to create a customized view (edit current view] that only shows the content of one specific sub folder of a document library. So far I have used meta data to show only specific content in a view, but I am wondering whether there is any easier solution, such as "filename" begins with ../../.../foldername
