Reporting Services timeout problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi, We just started to use Reporting Services in integrated mode (SQL Server 2005, MOSS 2007). The huge problem is we unable to build models of big databases: "Server was unable to process request. ---> The operation has timed out " The process teminates correctly if database is small enouth to finish model building under appoximatly 100 sec. Curently I increased timeout values in site and RS service config files:  rsreportserver.config: <Add Key="SQLCommandTimeoutSeconds" Value="2400"/> <Add Key="DatabaseQueryTimeout" Value="9000"/>  site web.config    : <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="51200" executionTimeout="9000" />   Still having same problem. Any suggestions where I can find that 100 sec value? Please help.

Problem with Subreports in Tablix in 2008 SQL Reporting Services

Hi,  I have set up a report to get data from an SQL Table to build a matrix of possible combinations of 2 products, works fine. For each combination a subreport should be called with row and colum value as parameter - also OK. But for most of the first and second column are the same column values handed to the subreport, for all other columns it works Deleting and recreating the matrix does not help   Thanks in advance

Problem in starting the SQL Server Reporting Services

Hi All,   I have a problem in deploying the reports. when i try to deploy the reports it shows that  Report Sever not working but when i try to start my SQL Server Reporting Services will get the below mentioned error so please can one could suggest me on  this. Problem Deploying the Reporting Services Web Parts to SharePoint

I am trying to install the RSWebParts.cab file - which contains the Report Viewer and Report Explorer web parts - to my SharePoint 2010 server.  I ran the following command in PowerShell: stsadm -o addwppack -filename path/to/RSWebParts.cab -globalinstall. And received "The solution was successfully deployed" message.

However when I go into the SharePoint Server web front-end, I cannot find any trace of the new web parts.  Going back into PowerShell I ran the Get-SPWebPartPack command and the following was returned:

Name                             SolutionId                                                Deployed

rsswebparts.cab               00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000    False

So it appears to me that the cab file was loaded but not deployed.  But I'm not sure what I need to do next in order to get this pac

Reporting Services 2008 - footer problem when exporting to Word

I have a footer that I want to show up on the last page only.

I use the following expression for the text box under text box properties --> visability

=IIF(Globals!TotalPages = Globals!PageNumber,

False, True)

When I run the report in reporting services, it does only print the footer on the last page.  When exported to Word, footer prints on all pages.

My questions:

1.  Is my expression ignored in Word for the footer, so I will not be able to do this in the footer?

2.  Is there another way to have something print at the bottom of the last page that will be recognized when exported to MS Word (report size will vary based on data returned)?

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards.

Reporting Services Chart in SharePoint Web Part, Broken Image Problem

I have a reporting services report that displays a dundas chart, it is a snapshot report executed daily.  When displaying the report inside a page viewer webpart or a report viewer web part in SharePoint, the first time after a recent snapshot occurs, the image shows up broken.  On refresh of the page the image is visible.

MOSS 2007
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services NOT running in SharePoint Integration mode.

Any ideas or work arounds to get the image to display on the first load of the page or why the image is broken?  I've tried different report parameters, Format, ClearSesson with no luck.  Viewing the report in Report Manager works fine and also going directly to the ReportServer page is fine.  It only occurs when it's inside of SharePoint inside of the Page Viewer or Report Viewer web parts or even if I manually create an iframe in a content editor web part.

Reporting Services Report Parameters Problem

I have the next table, & I have the Id of the account as a report parameter @AccountID

|account |LastYear |Jan |Feb |Mar |Apr |May |jun |Jul |Aug |Sep |Oct |Nov |Dec |YTD  |Plan
| 00001  | 10.00    |  1   |  2  |  3  |   5 |  32  | 12 | 11| 10  |  8   | 87 | 54  | 54  | 123 | 250

I tried to build a Query that return me

Jan       |  1
Feb       |  2
Mar      |  3 ...

I already tried to build  a temporary table, but then Ignore my report parameter saying Must declare the scalar variable "@AccountID".
But If I eliminate the code of create #Table, The parameter works just fine.

Part of my query is :

Declare @IddeCuenta varchar(50)
set @IddeCuenta =

(Periodo varchar(30),
Informe_Ventas money)

INSERT INTO #VentasGraf VALUES ('LstYear',0)

    UPDATE #VentasGraf
    SET        Informe_Ventas =
    (SELECT  ISNULL(sum(new_acumula

Problem with Reporting Services -- Report Hangs sometimes, need to restart server

We are having an application in which we generate several kinds of reports. We have one report- person addresses, through which we generate the report for all the people whom we have to deliver the cards. This is one of our most frequently used reports.

Some time back, we started getting problems of reports hanging on blank white page and nothing comes up. We restarted the server and everything wents fine. After some more days, the problem occurs again and again we restarted the server.

From that time the problem is coming up again and again and everytime we needs to restart server to make it work. But we cant do that every time ..Can anyone please suggest what may be causing it?

Database server: sql 2000

reporting services : Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 8.00.1062.00

operating system on which report is running: Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790.0

Application is build in .Net 2003

Sometimes the problem comes in 2 weeks, and sometimes it comes twice in a week.

Problem with install Reporting Services 2008

I'm configuring a new installation of SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services, but the Reporting Services doesn't work.

When I open the page http://localhost/ReportServer, show the HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.

At the first time the error was:

Failed to initialize the AppDomain:ReportServer_MSSQLSERVER_0 Exception: System.Web.HttpException Message: The current identity (NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE) does not have write access to 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files'.

I fixed this error givin permissions to Network Service to this directory. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb418935.aspx)

But now show this message:

Failed to initialize the AppDomain:ReportServer_MSSQLSERVER_0 Exception: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException Message: Unrecognized element 'folderLevelBuildProviders'. Problem integrating SharePoint with Reporting Services across different servers using Kerberos

Hi Folks

Apologies for the long post but wanted to include as much detail as possible...

Edit - Sorry just realised I hadnt mentioned we are using SQL Server 2005 SP3

We have a problem with our SharePoint Reporting Services integration, we are using Kerberos authentication and our SharePoint installation and SQL Server databases are on separate servers.  I have listed details of our setup below and also the symptoms we are experiencing....

Setup details

ServerA (SharePoint Server) Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition SP2

Reporting Services 2008 R2 - slow response on first report and after a certain timeout period

We are using Reporting Services 2008 R2.

We have a Windows Forms client with a main form using a webbrowser control to display the report Home page provided by Reporting Services.

We are finding that the loading of this page is very inconsistent. The first time we load the Windows Forms client at the start of the day the page takes too long, more than 10 seconds. After the first access, the Home Page displays in less than a second. If we don't access the Reporting Services for 20 minutes (estimate), we are back to the 10 seconds for initial load. Can someone explain what is going on?

We have tried to create a subscription to a simple report, this didn't help. We tried to create a console app to make a web request to the reporting services url every 10 minutes, this didn't help. We have looked at the rsreportserver.config and the RecycleTime entry put that doesn't really make sense why this would need to be increased considering it's at 12 hours by default. The issue that we seem to be having is happening on a shorter interval.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Integrate Reporting Services with Silverlight and RIA Services

One of the most wanted future features in Silverlight is the possibility to create business reports using Reporting Services. In this article, I will show how to use the existing Reporting Services technology with Silverlight and RIA Services combination.

Reporting Services SQL 2005 .Net 4 compatibility?

I've been working on my first asp.net application and for the most part it's been pretty smooth.  Right now I'm having trouble getting reporting services working under SQL Server 2005.  I developed the site with Visual Studio 2010 and didn't think about any of the .Net 4.0 compatibility issues that have arisen.  I'm having no problems with the site communicating with SQL Server 2005 for the regular database stuff.  The only problem I'm having is with setting up Reporting Services.  I have the .Net 4.0 framework installed on the server, however Reporting Services is still using 2.x.  I'm not sure if this is a problem with SSRS or with IIS.  When i go to localhost/Reports it's reading my web.config for my application and throwing an error: "Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'."  This is referring to a line in my web.config where targetFramework is set to 4.0.

Software that I'm using:

  • Visual Studio 2010
  • SQL Server 2005 Standard
  • IIS 7.0
  • .Net 4.0

Any suggestions?
