Error trying to open WPF Xaml windows from Visual Studio 2010 in Blend 4

Hi I have Visual Studio 2010 ultimate, and expression Blend 4. I have created a WPF 4 project in Visual Studio and when i try to open the MainWindow.xaml file in Expression Blend 4 - i get an error stating that the file or folder is not a valid blend project. Is there something i need to install for visual studio to make blend able to edit WPF Xaml files in Blend 4? I can open blend4 and create WPF applications with no problem - its just trying to open a mainwindow.xaml created in Visual Studio 2010 in blend 4 when i get the error. I am running windows 7 32 bit. Dataform in Expression Blend

Can Expression Blend 4 handle a Dataform control? I added a Dataform control to my xaml in VS 2010 and when I now open the same project in Blend it throws an exception. Also the reason i added it in VS 2010 was that I could not find the Dataform control in Blend. Am I missing a reference/namespace etc...?

Where is "projection" in Expression Blend 4???

I've just installed the demo version of Blend and I created a new wpf (.net 4) project. I drew a rectangle and now I want to change it's projection values. I can't find it in the "properties" anywhere, nor how to make it show there... Help????   Thanks

Cannot create unknown type when loading WF Service from loose Xaml with ActivityXamlServices

I am trying to host a WF4 (RC) Service dynamically. I have a test solution with two projects. The first is a declarative workflow service library with one root Flowchart activity in it, and a simple custom code activity. The workflow service library does not depend on any other custom assemblies or references. The second is my host app, which in my test solution is just a console application.

In my host app, I am attempting to the use ActivityXamlServices to load the Xaml for the workflow service into an activity, and then use the WorkflowServiceHost to fire up a workflow instance using that activity.

As soon as I try to new up the WorkflowServiceHost object, I get this exception...

Cannot create unknown type '{clr-namespace:DeclarativeServiceLibrary1}CodeActivity1'.

If I remove CodeActivity1 from my Flowchart designer, everything runs fine. If I add a direct reference to the workflow service project from my host project and then create a WorkflowServiceHost using an instance of my Flowchart activity instead of the activity created from the Xaml, it also works fine.

It seems to not like using my CodeActivity for some reason when loaded dynamically.

Load Silverlight XAML file into WPF application

I want to load the XAML file of a Silverlight application to set data bindings into WPF window. I am able to load when x:name=classname is removed. But I want to load when it is present. Please help me if there way to achieve this.

"Could not find default endpoint element that references contract " @ Expression Blend @ Design Time

so, in Expression Blend, and only there, during design time i get an error:

"System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code

Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'GBAUploadService.IGBAUploadService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element."

this doesn't happen in Visual Studio 2010, and of course the service itself works flawlessly.

any ideas?

the code triggering the exception is part of a ObjectDataProvider, which consumes a web service in code-behind:

  public class FileGroupsDataProvider
    public BaseUploadJob[] GetFileGroups()
      if (Assembly.GetEntryAssembly() != null)
        using (GBAUploadServiceClient gbaUploadServiceClient = new GBAUploadServiceClient())
          BaseUploadJob[] baseUploadJobs = gbaUploadServiceClient.GetFileGroups();
          return baseUploadJobs;
      return null;

An Expression Blend behavior to return the TreeView SelectedItem

Like all developers I eventually needed the SelectedItem of a TreeView in my ViewModel.  My requirement involved allowing a MenuItem to be enabled or disabled depending upon which TreeView node was selected.  My solution is a behavior based off of a forum answer provided by the good Dr. WPF.  The code  for the TreeViewSelectedItemBehavior class and some simple examples of using it are below:  Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

    public class TreeViewSelectedItemBehavior : Behavior<TreeView>
        public TreeViewSelectedItemBehavior()
        public static readonly DependencyProperty SelectedTreeViewItemProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("SelectedTreeViewItem", typeof(System.Windows.Controls.TreeViewItem), typeof(TreeViewSelectedItemBehavior), new PropertyMetadata(null));

        public System.Windows.Controls.TreeViewItem SelectedTreeViewItem
            get { return this.GetValue(TreeViewSelectedItemBehavior.SelectedTreeViewItemProperty) as System.Windows.Controls.TreeViewItem; }
            set { this.SetValue(TreeViewSelectedItemBehavior.SelectedTreeViewItemProperty, value); }

        protected override void OnAttached()

Programmatically create a package... in silverlight?

I've succesfully managed to programmatically create and alter packages, but now I was wondering if it would be possible to do this in a fancy Silverlight 4 application.

Because you can't reference the Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll assembly in Silverlight, I tried the AutomationFactory.CreateObject("ProgId") approach.

That's where I got stuck. What's the progid, and is this actually possible?
