How to upload files to remote machine using FTP or other method in VB.Net 2005 (Windows Application)

I have to create an application to upload and download files using FTP.
Are there any classes, methods in VB.Net 2005(Windows Application) to do this?

I have created a small GUI for this.

It contains 4 text boxes - Path of Local file to be uploaded, IP address of remote machine, User name and password of remote machine At last there is one Transfer button when I click on this transfer button that file should get copied to the remote machine.

I tried this using FTPWebRequest class by reading example in msdn.

But to connect to remote machine it requires URI format of FTP and I only have IP address of that remote machine. I think there is no web server on that remote machine.

Should I need to install web server on that remote machine.

Or is there any other method to do upload files to remote machine ?

Download & Upload Files to https

I hope i'm on the right forum. If not my appologies.

I want to have the posibility to upload & download files to a Https server.

I have found a way to do this with http but what is the difference between http & https.

I know https is secured thats why I want to use it but what way do I make a connection to it?

for http I found this article: http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/mahesh/WebRequestNResponseMDB12012005232323PM/WebRequestNResponseMDB.aspx

I don't want to use third party software.

Also a side question:

Is it possible to send data using FTPS. I've managed to upload and download data from a FTPserver using the WinInet.dll but this isn't possible to do it on a FTPS server (i think)

Is there a way to connect to a FTPS server and upload and download data to and from the server?

How to download multiple remote files?

Hi all!

We need to download multiple files from remote servers. It is a process that would take few hours to complete, since we are talking about images ~50kb each and more than 250.000 in total. Each images will downloaded, resized and then imported to SQL.DB, so we do not need to write files to the disk. Also the applications need to use network credentials, since it is behind ISA.

From your experience, what is the best method to implement this? Should we use WebClient or HttpSockets? Should we use Async methods or Threads ? How can we implement for example 5 simultaneously download to achieve better speed, since we may getting files from many different servers at once?

FtpWebRequest - how to upload two files on FTP server using only one connection?

Hi I am using FtpWebRequest with option KeepAlive = true. When I upload first file I create ftp request object: FtpWebRequest result = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create(""); I set KeepAlive = true and I do upload file. When I want upload second file I have to create new FtpWebRequest object using new URI FtpWebRequest result = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create("");   I set KeepAlive = true and I do upload file. The problem is that I have to create new FtpWebRequest so I create new connection to FTP server (I have checked using netstat -b command that my application uses another port number for second file). How can I upload two files (or more) using only on FTP connection/session? Regards

Cannot Upload Files Larger Than 30mb

We've followed the steps outlined in the MS KB Article here: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=925083 however we continue to be unable to upload files larger than 30mb to document libraries in our production MOSS farm.Web App set to allow 250mb uploadsUsing 10mb a file called "test20.mp3" - No issues, upload works fineUsing a 31mb file called "test31.mp3" ...When we attempt to upload into a document library using upload.aspx, we get a 404 page with the following URL (domain removed):http://WWW.THEDOMAINNAME.EDU/about/_layouts/Upload.aspx?List=%7b4945146E-FB11-4E80-8D2F-954996EB47F4%7d&RootFolder=%2fabout%2fDocuments&Source=http%3a%2f%WWW.THEDOMAINNAME.EDU%2fabout%2fDocuments%2fForms%2fAllItems.aspx  When we attempt to upload using the Explorer view of that same document library (all other document libraries tested exibit the same behavior), we get an error pop up box: "An error occurred copying some or all the selected files."  (NOTE: we appear to be using FPRPC in the Explorer view, not sure if that is relevant or not)We've tested this behavior on two other test farms we have running.  On both farms, (one WSS, one MOSS) uploading the same 31mb test file works fine with all the default settings in place.MOSS Environment2 Node Windows NLB FEsSQL2000 BEWindows 2003 Standard SP2Any input would be greatly appreciated.

display files to download based on who is logged in

I have an asp.net web app. I have secure parts to the website and currently I have it setup so that people can login with their domain accounts. The are three secure sections to the site, all of which require files of interest be displayed to the user so they can download them.Okay so this is how I see it working, people come to the home page and select on one of the three options. At this point they are prompted for there domain password then they are navigated to the secure page and a bit of code populates the page with file downloads based on who they are logged in as.The files themselves will be uploaded to the website and kept in folders named after the username. so for instance the user edwardh would be displayed the files in the folder /downloads/edwardh.I'm not sure where to start with this, any direction?

Upload large files from a web page

I am trying to figure out a solution to upload large files under a web page. I know WCF + Streaming is a proper solution for large file transfers, but I am not sure how to get the WCF client implemented under ASP.NET. Here is the link: http://mark-csharp.blogspot.com/2009/01/wcf-file-transfer-streaming-chunking.html Please advice if you have any solution.   Besides, is there anyway I could implement a progress bar showing the upload progress while the file is being uploaded, and voiding page timeout?
