ModalPopup containing a Wizard

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi All, I have wizard control inside a Modal Popup initiated on a button click. The trouble is the next/previous buttons close the popup. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Code below.   Thanks.<%@ Page Language="C#" %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="asp" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <script runat="server"> protected void btnStart_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ModalPopupExtender1.Show(); } </script> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title>Popup Wizard</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <asp:Button ID="btnHidden" runat="server" Text="Button" style="display: none"/> <asp:panel runat="server" ID="Panel1"> <div style="width: 20em; height: 15em; border: 2px solid black; background-color "> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1&

A better way to reference your wizard steps using named steps

Note: this article uses the plain vanilla but the concepts apply equally well to its popular counterpart .

By far the most common way that I see wizard steps reference in code snippets is by their index.

Publishing SQL Server Database using Publishing Wizard : Tips & Tricks

We can use SQL Server Publishing Wizard to deploy our local Database to remote hosting server/production server.This feature is available in SQL Server 2008/VWD 2008.

Below is the complete step by step guide of this process.

Database Export Wizard for ASP.net and SQL Server

A step wizard for ASP.net to export database objects to CSV, TXT, HTML, XML, or SQL. it guides users through a few simple steps to choose a database object (table, view, or query), select columns, and export the data in any of the standard formats CSV, HTML, XML, or SQL.

no intellisense, smart tag, extender wizard etc

Development Environment:  VS 2008 Pro, IIS 6, asp.net 2.x, sql 2005 server

Installed the version of AJAX Toolkit and Library for the .net 2.0 compatibility (as IIS is still using 2.x)

The problem is as that within the vs 2008 pro, when I select for example a button control...there should be an additional pop-up intellisense indicating...add extender.

to compound this, within the extender control ... the TargetControlID -- should be a drop-down list, indicating which controls are compatible with the extender ... there is no drop-down list.

even if I manually type the control to associate the extender with, this has no effect on the control (such as textbox control) -- as there should be another option appear indicating the association has taken place).

 below is the steps to take (as written by MS) -- but this is what I am not getting:

"If the Button Tasks shortcut menu does not appear, right-click the Button control and then click Show Smart Tag."  -- the smart tag is not appearing

To add an AJAX extender control
Switch to Design view.

If the page does not already contain a ScriptManager control, from the AJAX Extensions tab of the Toolbox, drag one onto the page.

form feild hints are not displaying for textboxses inside create user wizard?

I'm using following JS code to display input hint box besides the textbox whenever that asp.net textbox receives focus.

I'm doing this for a registration form and all of the textboxes are inside the asp.net create user wizard control.

<script type="text/javascript">
function addLoadEvent(func) {
  var oldonload = window.onload;
  if (typeof window.onload != 'function') {
    window.onload = func;
  } else {
    window.onload = function() {

function prepareInputsForHints() {
	var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("TextBox");
	for (var i=0; i<inputs.length; i++){
		// test to see if the hint span exists first
		if (inputs[i].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0]) {
			// the span exists! on focus, show the hint
			inputs[i].onfocus = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "inline";
			// when the cursor moves away from the field, hide the hint
			inputs[i].onblur = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "none";

create user wizard login error message dont show in a message box?

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?

Modifying connection String in Web config using Install Wizard

Im trying to create a Web Deployment Project, the built in setup and deployment is very good in Visual Studio, i need to able to add an additional step in the setup to change the connection string in the Web config file. Cutting Edge: The ASP.NET 2.0 Wizard Control

ASP.NET has a lot to offer to both the low-level programmer willing to control every little step of the code and the busiest of developers who needs to point-and-click his way through Web app development using just a few existing components.

ModalPopup/UpdatePanel from codebehind, inconsistent behavior onClick

First post bear with me please:

I have a simple form with a list of linkbuttons, each fires the same onclick event which sets an indicator image.  I have a dummy button with style="display:none" which I have set as the TargetControlID of the modal.

onClick event from the imagebutton, the modal is shown via modal.Show().  The cancel button inside the modalpopup fires an event which turns off the indicator image and hides the modal via modal.Hide().

The events fire perfectly, it's very simple!  Although after doing some testing I noticed the modalpopup is not presented after the 6-10th cycle of clicking the open event, then clicking cancel.  The grey background appears but it is behind the main panel and the modal is either presented behind this or is just simply not displaying.

I spent hours researching various methods, implemented the CancelControlID to see if it was somehow tied to my call of modal.Hide() that fails.

This occurs with an updatepanel only.  The behaviour is much cleaner this way, so I would hope to be able to implement this.  I have basically eliminated everything but these two events!  Please help

file upload in Create User Wizard Created User event with UpdatePanel Tag wont work?

In my Create User Wizard1 Created User Wizard Event, I am collecting extra information from text boxes and allowing

the user to uplad a file.

I have put the Submit button within an Update Panel Tag but since I have done this it does not work.

Is there a way round it. In this situation would you use a trigger.?

Unable to select any stored procedure while creating TableAdapters in wizard

I'm using VS 2008 and SQL 2008.

I have created the tables and the stored procedures in SQL 2008.

In VS 2008, I created DataSet1.xsd in App_Code and created the connectionString in web.config file.

Then when I go into the DataSet1.xsd and try to add a TableAdapter, strange things happened.

First I chose the data connection, then selected "Use existing stored procedure", then there was nothing listed in the dropdownlists (in Select, Insert, Update, or Delete).

I'm sure the connectionString is correct because if I choose "Use SQL statement" and type in a "select * from mytable1", the TableAdapter can be created without any problem.

Any suggestions?

Wizard in an Update Panel

Hi everybody. Heres the deal. I have a three step Wizard with various textboxes in it. I out the Wizard inside an Update Panel and Content Template. I launch the site and the first step of the wizard is executed nicely but when I click next to get to the second step, nothing happen. If I take the wizard out of the update panel then it works fine.

Any help would be very much appreciated cause I am a bit new in ASP.NET.

Thanx a lot.

Should I be able to use a wizard created in Visual Studio with webmatrix?  I've tried creating a sample in VS2005 and it runs in Webmatrix but the "wizard" isn't there (the next button, etc).  I tried in VS2010 and can't even get it to run in Visual Studio.   Any advice?
