Post Upgade task, Upgrading SSIS Pacakges to SQL Server 2008.

Hi, I am trying to upgrade sql 2005 packages to sql 2008 after doing in-place upgrade of DE and SSIS. Can I know what packageformat column in msdb.dbo.sysssispackages refer to, as according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc879336.aspx the value should be 2 if the package is in sql 2005 and it should be 3 if it is upgraded. But I am seeing only 0 or 1.   Can I know any other method to figure out version of the ssis packages? I am having issues upgrading SSIS Packages from 2005 to 2008, using SSIS package upgrade wizard.   Thanks for your help. Regards, KRanp.

Upgrading to SharePoint 2010 Foundation on SBS Server 2008

Hi all, I've just tried to install SharePoint Foundation on 2010 on Windows Small Business Server 2008 and whilst the literature I've found suggests that this is supported, I receive the following error: SharePoint 2010 Products cannot be installed in Stand-alone mode on a Domain Controller.  For more information on upgrading, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=975805. What's funny about the KB ID, is that it doesn't exist.  The pre-requisites for SharePoint 2010 Foundation installed OK and the SharePoint installer has detected that it will perform an in-place upgrade.  the STSADM -o preupgradecheck output is below. Any idea's?  It would be really great if we could start using the shared workspace and ribbon features that are inherent with SPF2010. Jason.

Cannot Browse cube correctly after upgrading SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008

I upgraded to SQL Server 2008 from 2005 and now when browsing my cubes only one measure displays at a time e.g. i can view two measures actual month and YTD the two displays but when i drag a dimension to the row, the actual month disappears and only YTD displays. if i remove the YTD measure the actual month shows again. Without the dimensions in the rows they both show. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to resolve this? it worked perfectly well before the upgrade.

Upgrading SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Evaluation to SQL 2008 Enterprise

Dear users,

I ran Upgrade successfully. After upgrading when I checked the version of SQL Server it is still evaluation version having 20 days to expire. I am expecting to see something different. I don't expect to see remaining days of expiration. After applying upgrade I logged off and logged back on. Was I supposed to shut down my desktop?

What went wrong? While upgrading I didn't encounter any error.

Thank you for your support.

Error Upgrading from SQL Server 2000 - > 2008 R2 Reporting Services

Hello, I am having some trouble upgrading an existing SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services installation from an old server to a new one commissioned for this purpose, which is running SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services.  I have been following the instructions here:

but after trying to connect with reporting services 2008, i get this error:

The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.54'. The expected version is '147'. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)

before starting the process, I ran upgrade advisor and got back the following results:

Setup can upgrade a SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services instance that uses a SQL Server 2000 Database Engine in the same instance. However, upgrade is blocked if the report server database is in a different instance, on a remote instance, or runs on a remote SQL Server 2005 instance in SQL Server 2000 compatibility mode.

*note, our reporting services IS in the same instance as the SQL Server 2000 database engine.  However, upgrade advisor still reported that this instance can not be au

Upgrading from SQL Server 2008 to Sql Server 2008 R2

We want to upgrade a current sql 2008 server to sql 2008 R2.  Is there any problems with this usually or can this be accomplished from the R2 setup?

Upgrading from SQL server 2005 to 2008 and get an error message

I am halfway through the process and get this error message "Use the Reporting Services Configuration tool to configure the database source name (DSN) and connect to the database." on the Reporting Services Authenication page.

This is the runtime version that is distributed with Amicus Attorney, a lawofffice management program.

I can barely spell SQL and have no idea what this is about, but Amicus told me it wasn't their issue.

System.DirectoryServices.Protocols problem after upgrading to Windows Server 2008 R2

Hopefully this is the correct forum...

I have a block of code (VB.NET) for creating connection object for an OpenLDAP directory that looks something like

_OL = New LdapDirectoryIdentifier(DirectoryServer, PortNumber, True, False)
_Conn = New LdapConnection(_OL)
_Conn.SessionOptions.SaslMethod = "GSSAPI"
_Conn.SessionOptions.ProtocolVersion = 3
_Conn.SessionOptions.Sealing = True
_Conn.SessionOptions.SspiFlag = _Conn.SessionOptions.SspiFlag Or &H10 'auth-conf
_Conn.Timeout = New TimeSpan(0, 20, 0) ' 20 minutes
_Conn.AuthType = AuthType.Negotiate

On a Windows Server 2008 computer, this block of code gives me an ldapconnection object
On a Windows Server 2008 R2 computer, this block of code throws an exception when attempting to set the SaslMethod property (Also tried setting to "SIMPLE", "GSS-SPNEGO" or "EXTERNAL")

Not very helpfully, the error message states simply "An unknown authentication error occurred" Error code = 86 in System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.LdapSessionOptions.SetStringValueHelper(LdapOption option, String value)

I have matched as much as possible except for OS version. Same .NET Framework version, same processor, same Windows edition

Any suggestions?

Upgrading from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and problems with 64 bit server

I upgraded from VS2008 to vs2010. I converted my web project to vs2010.

I built my solution and was able to run it locally on my developmenet machine (32 bit). I publish it to my web server (Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x 64 Edition). Then I got an error message that said -

Could not load file or assembly 'interop.adodb' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

I rebuilt my solution changing the target platform to x86. The error is then replaced with

Could not load file or assembly 'ProjectName'or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

Assembly manager loaded from: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\clr.dll
Running under executable c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\w3wp.exe

It worked when it was 2.0 and it wouldn't use the framework64 folder but just framework.

How do I force my server to run a 32 bit application since I'm assuming I must have other 32 bit dlls resulting in the same error as the interop issue.

Seven reasons to care about SQL Server 2008 R2

Microsoft begins to fully realize its vision of SQL Server as an information platform and not "just" a database. Hence the main theme for this release -- at least according to Microsoft -- is self-service BI. The PowerPivot plug-ins for Excel 2010 and SharePoint 2010 are easily going to make the biggest splash of all the new features, not least because they're the most complete. But then, SQL Server 2008 R2 isn't strictly necessary for PowerPivot for Excel, which works with plenty of other data sources.
