We are planning configure a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition on a server with 8 CPUs - two quad core with hyper threading. The server also runs many SSIS packages
and SSRS reports.
We would like to assign the highest priority to SQL database engine. Considering the fact that SQL Standard does not leverage more than 4 CPUs, what would be the
best way to dedicate most of CPU power to SQL Server database engine?
I already found that I can’t dedicate SPUs to SQL Server through this post:
I am a bit concern that manipulating the default settings for Affinity and SQL Server priority might cause harm. That is why I am asking for a good practice for specific
circumstance explained here.
Any help would be appreciated,
