Remote Process Call

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Long time developer however somewhat relative newbie to SSIS ( I've developed a few packages successfully) SSIS 2008 After writing a file, I would like to execute a remote process passing the data file as input.  Additionally I would like to execute the remote process asynchronously and be notified when the process is complete. What tools in SSIS might I look at to accomplish this task?   WMI?  Execute Process Task calling powershell and run a command file?   Any direction would be helpful.  Thanks, RJ

Accessing memory of a remote process (x64) from application (x86) - and the other way

Hi everyone, My program access a remote process, e.g. to get the text of ListViewItem. It uses ReadProcessMemory, WriteProcessMemory, SendMessage, LV_ITEM via PInvoke. Below is a little codesnippet. This doesnt work, when i compile for x86 and the remote process is x64 (or the other way). I know that is because the size of IntPtr - and so of the LV_ITEM-Structure - is different. Is there any way, to access x86 and x64 remote processes from the same application?  Is there any way to find out if the remote process is x86 or x64 and make my call's with a suitable LV-Item Structure? thanks Torsten Codesnippet: LV_ITEM lvitem = new LV_ITEM(); // Allocate memory in the remote process's address space string s = string.Empty; IntPtr pszTextMemory = VirtualAllocEx(hProcess,IntPtr.Zero,  1024, (int)(AllocationType.MEM_RESERVE|AllocationType.MEM_COMMIT), (int)(AccessProtectionType.PAGE_READWRITE)); lvitem.pszText = pszTextMemory; ... IntPtr pLVItemMemory = VirtualAllocEx(hProcess, IntPtr.Zero,  Marshal.SizeOf(lvitem), (int)(AllocationType.MEM_RESERVE|AllocationType.MEM_COMMIT), (int)(AccessProtectionType.PAGE_READWRITE)); IntPtr lvItemPtr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(Marshal.SizeOf(lvitem)); Marshal.StructureToPtr(lvitem,lvItemPtr,false); WriteProcessMemory(hProcess, pLVItemMemory, ref lvitem, Marshal.SizeOf(lvitem), ref written); SendMessage(hListView, LVM_GETITEM

SSIS Script Task wait for remote process completion - WMI & C#

Hi All: I have a C# script task that uses WMI to create a process on a remote machine. What is the best way for me to make the script task wait until the remote process has completed before moving to the next task in SSIS? TIA!

Calling remote batch file using Execute Process Task

Hi,

The requiement is to create excel file. I cannot run this code using SSIS vbscript task because this requires Microsoft.Office.Interop DLL which can not be installed on the dev / prod server. Hence using the SQL task the data exported to excel.

But now the excel is required to be updated to merge some cells. The approach we are thinking is to keep VBS file with required code to UNC path. Keep the BAT file running VBS file using CSCRIPT command in same location. Call the BAT file from SSIS package using Execute Process Task. This approach is tested in local system and also works on dev server. But somehow the sample code used to create excel is not creating excel to UNC path.

VBS code below

Const xlSaveChanges = 1
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
objExcel.Visible = False
objExcel.Workbooks.Add
objExcel.Cells(1, 1).Value ="Test value"
objExcel.ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs(\\server.com\folder$\Demo\Excelfile.xls)
objExcel.Quit

The BAT used to call above VBS file is given below

cscript \\server.com\folder$\Demo\Excelfile.vbs

The above UNC path is used in execute process task package which runs fine. But the file is not yet created.

Execute process on remote machine from windows service

Hi,

I am using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to connect to a remote system. I am connecting to a remote system and executing an exe on the remote system. This works if it is a normal exe. I am passing the user name and the password as well.

But when I use the same code in a Windows Service, I get an error which says "Access is Denied." My requirement is to invoke the exe (every 2 hours) on client system from a windows service on the server.

My code looks like this:

Dim

processHandle As Integer
Dim connection

System.Management WMI Remote Process start

Couple questions here, some of which depends on the answer of other questions.....fun stuff

1) So I have a program that starts a remote process on a PC. When trying to run this program, it's a VBscript it's attempting to run, I get a response code of "8" which is an unknown error. Can you run VBscripts using the System.Management class and WMI?

2) This Vbscript is launching iexploer.exe and browsing to a designated webpage. Instead of using the VBscript can I start iexploer.exe [I know I can do this] but pass it arguments so it starts at a certain webpage?

3) Even if I can do option 2, which is preferable, I'm having a problem with even launching iexploer.exe. On the remote PC it starts the process, but it never is shown. It appears as if it's running in the background but have no visuals of the application whatsoever. This occurs no matter what I run: notepad.exe, calc.exe, cmd.exe....you name it. Again, I see the process start [task manager] but no visual representation of that program.

is it possible to process the cube using vb.net/c# which exists in the remote server?

Hi

If the process duration greater than 5 minutes on HP server with MS 2008 server, remote SOAP request

We have a simple SOAP web service running on ASP.NET Web Services over IIS6, the service waits for 5 minutes and the returns "Hellow World".

If the wait duration more than 5 minutes then IIS never sends the response back to the remote client, but there is no problem; when the service called on local machine.

We turned off the firewall and another limitation, but problem still continue.

Hi All,

I have a web application. This application collects some information from the user and the details needs to be passed to a .EXE. It processes the parameters and gives the output as a text file.

The .EXE is hosted in another server (Application Server). I need to call the .EXE with the a set of parameters from the Web Server. Is there any way to call this .EXE through an web service? If yes how to call the .EXE with parameters within the web service?

Thank you.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

ASP.NET Architecture - ASP.NET Worker Process - HTTP Pipleline - Http Modules and Handlers

"ASP.NET is a powerful platform for building Web applications, that provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and power for building just about any kind of Web application. Most people are familiar only with the high level frameworks like WebForms and WebServices which sit at the very top level of the ASP.NET hierarchy. In this article I'll describe the lower level aspects of ASP.NET and explain how requests move from Web Server to the ASP.NET runtime and then through the ASP.NET Http Pipeline to process requests.
